A COUNCIL has ordered an ex-soldier to take down the Australian flag which flies outside his house because it has been deemed “offensive” by a neighbour.

Aaron Wilson erected the 5m high flagpole eight weeks ago, in honour of his friends who served in Iraq.

But on Tuesday, Logan City Council called to tell him a neighbour had made a complaint, labelling it “offensive”.

He was told to remove the pole or risk legal action. Mr Wilson, whose father fought in Vietnam, said he was disgusted.

A RAT-infested Prospect food shop traded for nine months without the knowledge of either health authorities or the local council before it was forced to close in July.

The contaminated food collected from the Indian Warehouse, on Prospect Rd, was enough to fill a six cubic metre container, according to the Eastern Health Authority (EHA).

The case only discovered by chance has exposed major flaws in the way food outlets come under official notice for health breaches.

AUSTRALIAN revisionist historian Fredrick Toben faces a hearing in London tomorrow to determine whether he will be extradited to Germany to face allegations of Holocaust denial.

Gerald Fredrick Toben, 64, was arrested on a plane at Heathrow Airport today, while in transit from the United States to Dubai, by Metropolitan Police executing a European Union arrest warrant issued by German authorities.

The arrest warrant accuses Toben of publishing material on the internet “of an anti-Semitic and/or revisionist nature” in Australia, Germany and other countries.

TWO taxi drivers were assaulted in separate attacks overnight, with one cab stolen by a man and woman.

Police arrested a Christies Beach man, 26, and a Woodcroft man, 27, after they allegedly assaulted a driver and attempted to run off without paying the fare in Hindley St at about 2.30am.

The driver chased the men and one assaulted him leaving the driver with minor injuries to his face and hand.

A 14-YEAR-old girl who ran away from hospital was beaten with a lump of wood by a younger girl before being dragged into bushes by boys who tried to rape her as she was dying, a coroner has been told.
