More Refugee Boats This Year Than in Previous Seven Years

The Adelaide Advertiser reports http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,26106481-5006301,00.html that this year has seen the largest arrival of refugees on Australian shores since 2001. In all it totals twenty-five boats – the same amount of boats as in the last seven years combined.

As per usual, the Opposition is blaming the Federal Government for watering down policies that they implemented during their time in government. Meanwhile, the Fed claims that it has retained the most stringent of policies relating to refugees that were in place when they took the reigns of government.

A MOTORIST has been robbed at gunpoint at a set of northern suburbs traffic lights, after thugs smashed their way into his vehicle with an iron bar.

As the man waited at the intersection of Kings Rd and Fairbanks Drive, Paralowie about 4.30am, two men approached him, one of them smashing the windscreen with the bar.

Police spokeswoman Senior Constable Rebecca Stokes said the other man was armed with a dark coloured handgun and threatened the driver and demanded money.

A VICTORIAN man was chased by a group of up to six Asian men and stabbed several times early this morning in the western suburbs.

The man in his 20s was chased along Hanson Rd by the group and into Alison St where he was stabbed numerous times.

The man “received severe lacerations to his hands, arms and body and is in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital undergoing emergency surgery,” police spokesman Senior Constable Mick Abbott said.
