THE new Families and Communities Minister has conceded her department has more to do in addressing the Gang of 49 crime culture in Adelaide.

Earlier today, the man charged with addressing the social ills behind the Gang of 49 – Monsignor David Cappo – said government departments were not doing enough to help.

Father Cappo, the chairman of the State Government’s Social Inclusion Board, singled out the Family and Communities Department as not doing enough and not working quickly enough.

South Australia: THREE KNIFE-WIELDING ABORIGINAL MEN robbed a WHITE WOMAN at an ATM in the western suburbs earlier this morning.

The victim was withdrawing money from the machine on West Lakes Boulevard about 7.30am when the trio approached her and stole an amount of cash.

Police said she was uninjured in the robbery.

The men are described as Aboriginal in appearance.

A PARA Hills man who went to investigate noises outside his house at 4am today was threatened by two men who stole his car.

A short time later, his blue Holden Commodore sedan was driven through the doors of a tavern on Golden Grove Rd at Surrey Downs.

Police said cleaners at the tavern heard a crash and alarms being set off at 4.15am.

They told police two men of Aboriginal appearance then ransacked some of the poker machines, stealing the cash drawers.

A WOMAN had her purse taken in an attack by another woman on Franklin St in the city this morning.

The victim was not hurt when assaulted just before 10am.

A NORTHEASTERN suburbs family was terrorised by four hooded men who broke into their house at 2.30am.

Early yesterday – as a man and woman were watching television while their children were asleep in bed – the four intruders broke into their house after forcing open a window.
