AFTER six months waiting for answers, the family of a young Sydney man whose life was turned upside down by the drug ice is a step closer to knowing who killed the 20-year-old. 
 
Dane McNeill had been a star ice hockey player in his teenage years, with dreams of playing in the NHL.

But in the months before his death last July, the 20-year-old fell in with the wrong crowd.
A month later, his badly burned body was found dumped in a leafy reserve at Picnic Point, in Sydney's southwest.
This morning, a large contingent of police, assisted by riot squad officers and homicide detectives, arrested a 24-year-old man at a home in Bankstown.

Two hours later they arrested a 24-year-old pregant woman, who has a two-year-old child, at Liverpool.

The man this afternoon was charged with Mr McNeill's murder while the woman is being questioned. She is expected to be charged in relation to the killing this afternoon.

A third person, the woman's partner, is also likely to be charged with murder. He is currently in jail on unrelated charges, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The arrests come after a six-month investigation by Strike Force Halfrey.

Police will allege Mr McNeill was assaulted at an address in Heckenberg on July 19, and kept captive overnight.

He was then taken to an address in Cartwright where he died after allegedly being assaulted and stabbed.

It is alleged Mr McNeill's body was taken to Picnic Point and set alight in the early hours of July 21.

It is understood his body was found in a suitcase.

A MAN who stabbed his girlfriend, slashed another man's neck with a Stanley knife and "exposed himself" in public is "sorry" for his crimes. 
 
Miguel Da Silva admitted charges of going armed with weapons at night, unlawfully causing serious harm, gross indecency and aggravated assault when he faced the NT Supreme Court.

Defence lawyer Ian Read SC said his client was sorry for the harm inflicted on his former partner.

"He tells me he has reflected on his conduct ... he has no intention to contact her again," he said.

Da Silva, 36, masturbated in front of two women on the university campus last January.

Three months later he used a Stanley knife to slash a man's neck, leaving a 7cm gash that exposed "vein and neck tissue" in Peel St, Darwin.

The pair had only just met.



Da Silva was remanded in custody when he stabbed his then-girlfriend in the back three times with a hunting knife on April 24. He went to her house after she told him to stay away.

The couple subsequently argued. Da Silva slapped the victim, pulled her hair and punched her in the head, chased her when she tried to escape and pushed her to the ground. Then he attacked her with the knife.


The victim was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery and was transferred to intensive care.

Da Silva, an East Timorese national, was released from prison in June 2013, after serving more than 18 months for committing similar offences on another woman.

In 2012, he was embroiled in an alleged "jailhouse conspiracy" regarding an armed robbery of the KFC store in Coconut Grove.

The court heard Da Silva had a history of drug and grog abuse but his mental state at the time of the stabbings and indecency couldn't be ­confirmed.

A MAN accused of indecently assaulting a teenage girl at a US rap band's concert in Sydney has been released on bail. 
 
POLICE allege Mohamed Hamdin groped the 15-year-old girl during a sold-out concert for US rappers YG + Ty Dolla $ign at the Enmore Theatre on Monday night.

The 24-year-old appeared at Newtown Local Court on Tuesday after being charged with indecent assault.

He was granted bail on strict conditions, including that he not leave his home at night without being accompanied by at least one of his parents.
Hamdin must also report daily to police.
His matter will return to court next month.

Police say they went to the theatre at around 7pm to help control the crowd of about 2500 people.

VICTORIAN police are on the hunt for a man who ejaculated onto the back of a woman at a Melbourne music festival. 
 
A 20-year-old woman told police she was standing near the main stage of the St Kilda Festival on Sunday, February 8, watching hip hop group Thundamentals perform when a man standing behind her ejaculated onto her back.

He then disappeared into the crowd.

"Everybody was touching each other but I noticed this guy was a bit too close to me and I tried to manoeuvre away," the victim told reporters at a press conference this morning.

"It made me feel uncomfortable, I'm pretty angry towards men."

The suspect is described as being of Indian appearance and aged between 18 and 30, with a dark brown complexion, average build, short black hair and brown eyes with acne scars on his cheeks. He was wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt at the time.

QUEENSLAND sports star Karmichael Hunt has been charged for supplying cocaine, after a sting involving the state's Crime and Corruption Commission. 
 
The Queensland Reds fullback and vice-captain, 28, met with detectives last night where he was issued a notice to appear in court over four counts of supplying the drug.

Hunt's charges follows that of former rugby league stars Jason Smith and Matt Seers who police and CCC allege were part of a multimillion-dollar cocaine cartel.

The CCC this morning released a statement that said the charges stemmed from an investigation into a cocaine trafficking syndicate in southeast Queensland.

Hunt and two men and a woman were last night issued their notices to appear in court, with the CCC alleging they "arranged for the supply of cocaine for personal use or to on-supply cocaine to friends and colleagues between June and December last year".

Hunt has been listed in the start up side against the Western Force at Suncorp Stadium tomorrow.

Highly-decorated and known for his successful "code-hopping", he previously played for AFL team Gold Coast Suns and rugby league team Brisbane Broncos.

He won the Dally M Rookie of the year for the Broncos in 2004, later playing in the Queensland and Australian league teams.

Holden Hill Police are seeking information from the public after a woman was assaulted by four men at Pooraka last night.

At about 8.30pm, the woman was walking along Carr Street when she was approached by four men in a car.

The men grabbed the woman from behind, assaulted her before she managed to scream and the men left in the vehicle.

The four suspects are all described as men of African appearance with dark complexions and thin builds.

One man was about 180cms tall, about 20-25-years-old, wearing a red 'Chicago Bulls' baseball cap and matching singlet with white numbers on it.

Another man was about 20-years-old, wearing a black jacket with orange stripes down the sleeves and black silky looking pants.

The third man was wearing a black hooded jumper with a 'Nike' logo on the front.

While the fourth man was believed to be wearing all black clothing.

All four men were travelling in a dark blue Holden Commodore sedan with damage to the front bumper bar and displaying P plates.

The woman reported the incident to police this morning, Wednesday 1 April, with police patrols door-knocking Carr Street seeking witnesses to the assault.

Holden Hill Police investigating the incident have concerns as to the motive for the attack and ask anyone with information on the assault to please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police also wish to remind the public to be aware of their personal safety at night and walk in well-lit areas or in the company of others.
