if it wasn't for "the dirty tricks" played by the main-stream media and the two "main-stream" political parties, Pauline Hanson almost certainly would'v been elected as Prime Minister.....@ her "peak", she had the same or more support than Howard......prblby up to ¼ of "the primary vote"......more than enough to get elected with first & second "preferences"!

but.....it seems....that her "support base" is still out there.....maybe even more so, eh?!?

AWU boss Paul Howes has trouble with Labor's past:

Calwell also famously stated: "Two Wongs don't make a White."



Pauline Hanson's maiden speech in Federal Parliament where she praised Calwell:

"Arthur Calwell was a great Australian and Labor leader, and it is a pity that there are not men of his stature sitting on the opposition benches today. Arthur Calwell said "Japan, India, Burma, Ceylon and every new African nation are fiercely anti-white and anti-one another. Do we want or need any of these people here? I am one red-blooded Australian who says no and who speaks for 90% of Australians." I have no hesitation in echoing the words of Arthur Calwell."

This main article exemplified the debilitating ignorance of liberal thought. They attribute the reason why N.S.W. is the most 'racist' state to the 'quality of debate' in this jurisdictions. Always choose some absurd route of logic when the evidence is overwhelmingly due to demographics. I am not demographer but I would imagine that Sydney and the state of N.S.W. is one of, if not the most populous regions in all of Australia and unfortunately has the largest ratio of non-white to white. Clearly it has nothing to do with skyrocketing crime rates, lack of jobs/affordable training for our people and general feeling of depression and indignancy at being dispossessed of our country.

Deakin defined himself as an "independent Australian Briton," favouring a self-governing Australia but loyal to the British Empire. He certainly did not see federation as marking Australia's independence from Britain. On the contrary, Deakin was a supporter of closer empire unity, serving as president of the Victorian branch of the Imperial Federation League, a cause he believed to be a stepping stone to a more spiritual world unity.

Deakin was elected to the first federal Parliament as MP for Ballarat, and became Attorney-General in the ministry headed by Edmund Barton. He was active, especially in drafting bills for the Public Service, arbitration and the High Court. His second reading speech on the Immigration Restriction Bill to implement the White Australia Policy was notable in avoiding blatant racism by arguing that it was necessary to exclude the Japanese because of their good qualities, which would place them at an advantage over European Australians. His March 1902 speech in favour of the bill establishing the High Court of Australia helped overcome significant opposition to its establishment.

The Australian colonies had passed restrictive legislation as early as the 1860s. This was directed specifically at Chinese immigrants, but later a popular cry was raised against the increasingly numerous Japanese—especially after Japan's victory over China in the 1894–95 Sino-Japanese War—and against South Asians and Kanakas (South Pacific islanders) as well. Fear of military invasion by Japan, the threat to the standard of living presented by the cheap but efficient Asian labourers, and white racism were the principal factors behind the White Australia movement. In 1901 the Immigration Restriction Act of Australia effectively ended all non-European immigration by providing for entrance examinations in European languages. Supplementary legislation in 1901 provided for the deportation by 1906 of the country's Kanakas. Popular support for White Australia, always strong, was bolstered at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 when the Australian delegation led the fight to defeat a Japanese-sponsored racial-equality amendment to the League of Nations Covenant. From about 1950 on, the policy became less stringent, first under Liberal governments and also (more markedly) under Labor, from 1972 to 1975.
