Excerpt: A report from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has asked Scandanavian governments to help contain the threat of the Neo-Nazi organization called the Nordic Resistance Movement (NRM) - which is based in the region, according to a Monday report by Algemeiner citing ADL.

NRM has reportedly made their antisemitism the base of all their content. Multiple senior officials have also reported that the Neo-Nazi group is very prone to violence.

Richard Sivell tracked the arrival of police and his arrest through a series of posts to a Telegram chat group by himself and supporters.

It was the same social media account carrying Sivell's name that was used to make what could be considered to be threats to kill the Prime Minister and a number of journalists.

A spokeswoman for police said a search warrant was presented at the Te Puke rural address this morning.

"During this operation, a man refused to leave the premises and was arrested. He is due to appear in Tauranga District Court on April 4 on charges that include obstructing Police."

In audio messages to the Counterspin channel on Telegram, Sivell has used an account in his own name to say of government politicians: "They are going to die. We are not going to allow them to share this world with us anymore. Same as Jacinda. She is going to die. Execute these motherf***ers. I look forward to hearing their necks snap."

The Disenfranchised: The Telegram social media channel has become a popular alternative for anti-vax and other groups opposed to public health measures after a number were banned from mainstream apps. It has become a popular channel for far-right groups and extremists including Islamic State.

It was the same account and forum to which Sivell reported police interest this morning with an audio message.

Sivell's message announcing police said: "The pigs are up here." He then gave the address of a rural Bay of Plenty property. "They turned up first thing this morning - four masked goons. They tried to detain me and steal my property.

"I managed to fend them off and got in touch with a couple of people. They produced some f***ing bull* paperwork saying there was a search warrant. It was not signed by a judge. I asked him to leave it. He didn't leave it.

"They've been f***ing harassing me and they're staking me out at the moment up on top of the road."

Sivell asked for anyone in the Tauranga area to come to the address and "help me out".

"I don't even know why they are persecuting me," Sivell told the supporter. "I was told that they received a complaint from something I said online. They are going to all this effort against me just because I have an opinion. I haven't broken any laws."

Sivell said he wasn't going to let police in and hadn't had a chance to properly view the search warrant. "I've just got up and locked the door," he said. "Then they said they were going to smash their way in."

Sivell said police had spoken to him for an hour before agreeing to retreat back to the roadside.

"I'm pretty scared bro," he told his caller. "I don't know why it justifies this sort of behaviour. They have been looking for me for a long time just because I have a loud voice and an opinion."

While Sivell was on the phone, he began shouting to police who appeared to be approaching with the search warrant again. He called to officers to put the search warrant under a car tyre and to leave the property.

"You don't need to explain anything to me. Just put it under the wheel of the vehicle and I'll come and get it and have a read of it myself."

A minute later, sounds of an altercation could be heard over the phone line along with a dog barking. A voice can be heard calling: "On the ground", while Sivell is heard shouting: "F*** off. Leave me alone."

In a message, he said: "We are going to hang you Jezebel. You are such an evil c**t. I curse you to hell. I look forward to hearing your neck snap."

In messages posted by Sivell, he makes reference to holding trials he aligned with those held at Nuremberg after World War II.

Calls for "Nuremberg 2" trials are popular among groups opposing public health measures including vaccines and have seen photographs distributed showing rows of people hanging dead. The idea is based on the belief that Covid-19 vaccine rollouts - a primary tool in combating the pandemic - are violations of human rights.

Sivell said: "I think this government is completely rogue. They are enemies of the people. They are poisoning our country, they are poisoning our children and they need to be executed. I want to see them hung."

In 2020, Stuff reported Sivell had come to police attention after harassing a South Waikato District Councillor who had fled East Germany in the 1980s. Sivell, who was working in Tirau at the time, distributed flyers in which he called councillor Peter Schulte a "Nazi immigrant".

He also sent text messages, including one that said: "I'm coming for you Peter, this is not Nazi Germany, we are Anzacs, watch the wrath of God fall upon you".
So, everything's Nazi? ... He just lost any support he might have gained here. Let Sivell be martyred!

Excerpt: The IMF's latest staff statement on the New Zealand economy was released last week. On my reading, the statement unfortunately falls into the cringeworthy praise category.

The overall thrust is that New Zealanders are doing well under the guiding hand of a competent and benevolent government.

The statement praises the government for its "strong economic and health policies". Its management of Covid-19 has been "successful" and "sound". It provides no evidence in support of these conclusions.

It endorses the government's ad hoc interventionist measures in housing. It recommends they "be maintained". Yet the longer anti-landlord and distortionary mortgage lending policies remain in place, the more serious the unintended consequences.

It even endorses "complementary measures" to further reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Yet, measures such as subsidies for electric vehicles cannot reduce net national emissions. Under New Zealand's emissions trading scheme, net zero carbon emissions by 2050 can be achieved at lower cost without such measures, given the public will.

It commends the government's Income Insurance Scheme. It argues that it "closes an important gap in social protection". This is not a wellbeing consideration. A wellbeing approach would establish that employees have no better way of spending the estimated annual cost of $3.54 billion. Tell that to struggling households.

Nor is there any obvious "social protection" gap. New Zealand has had an unemployment benefit for all of living memory.

More disturbingly, the argument seems to assume the desirability of cradle-to-the-grave social security. That proposition ignores costs and assumes a benevolent but necessarily dictatorial government.

Such utopian thinking is dangerous for our freedoms and prosperity.

In short, the IMF's unqualified endorsement of the government's success in responding to Covid appears to lack any analytical basis.

The future cost is a worry. News media reports of householders struggling against the rising cost of living are proliferating, independently of the latent increased debt burden.

Meanwhile, under the "strong economic management" the cheap and plentiful money contributed to skyrocketing house prices that put home ownership beyond the reach of many.

To cap it all off, the document considers that there is fiscal room for further spending increases but, according to one report, not for tax cuts.

It is hard to see anything in this statement that the Prime Minister's advisers would not have written, given the chance.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that antisemitism has been tolerated for too long in universities and needs to be eradicated in a series of Prime Minister Questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

These comments were in response to a question posited by Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Against Antisemitism MP Andrew Percy.

"We heard from Jewish students recently who are suffering record antisemitic attacks on university campuses including allegations of them being marked down by their own professors," said Percy. "This is completely outrageous and we would expect the National Union of Students (NUS) to be on their side, but instead of helping them, the NUS has been inviting someone who has been engaging in antisemitic conspiracy theories to a conference."

"Our universities for far too long have been tolerant of casual, or indeed systematic antisemitism and that's why it is very important that we now have rapid and irreversible change," Johnson replied. "But it's also important that we have an antisemitism task force devoted to rooting out antisemitism in education at all levels."

A report from November showed that in 2021, antisemitism on UK campuses rose by 59% from 2020.

A mass shooting late Saturday night has left one dead and five injured after Portland-area Antifa held a gathering in solidarity with Amir Locke, a 22-year-old black man who was shot by police in Minneapolis earlier this month.

A woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, and two men and three women were taken to nearby hospitals, according to the New York Times. Two suspects are reportedly in custody in response to the shooting, according to KPTV.

The shooting occurred at around 8 pm near Normandale Park.

Tweets from Antifa members and groups told far-left comrades that were present not to talk to police investigating the shooting, to delete evidence posted on social media, and to keep posts including photos, videos, and first-hand accounts related to the incident to a minimum "so that you don't receive a knock."

That was the call from about 40 people who gathered outside Rotorua Lakes Council on Tuesday morning to protest against its pursuit of "iwi co-governance".

However, a Māori academic who observed the demonstration said, in her view, it was motivated by "ignorance and fear".

Waiariki MP Rawiri Waititi says it's "disappointing" people are "threatened" by Māori wards.

Demonstration organiser Jo-Anne La Grouw told Local Democracy Reporting the council's adopted governance model, of one Māori ward seat, one general ward seat and eight at-large seats, was not democratic.

She said a blog post prompted her into action.

"I thought, everybody's against it but nobody's doing anything."

She believed many wanted to remove Māori wards, which the council adopted in May followed by the 'interim' model in November.

It was also pursuing a local bill through Parliament to allow its preferred model of three Māori ward seats, three general ward seats and four at-large seats.

The model is currently unlawful under the Local Electoral Act.

In a statement provided by La Grouw, the group said the council was "riding roughshod over its ratepayers in an effort to achieve its objective of iwi co-governance".

"Co-governance is basically the antithesis of democracy... the minority ruling over the majority."

Rotorua district councillors Reynold Macpherson and Peter Bentley attended the demonstration.

Macpherson said he opposed the interim model, saying as the district's Māori roll was smaller than the general roll, it gave Māori ward voters 2.6 times the voting power of those not.

"We have a right to a thing called equal suffrage. That means we all have the same voting power."

Demonstrator Jocelyn Green said she believed the council was "trying to give [Māori] extra seats".

"They're trying to put people into positions they're not elected to."

She said she could not expand on how that would happen.

Local elections are scheduled for October. The council has not proposed appointing candidates to seats.

A demonstrator who gave her name as Sharyn said she had lived in Rotorua for 70 years and had always seen a "fair representation of people" on the council.

"They want to have extra seats for Māori."

Academic Ngahuia Te Awekotuku MNZM (Te Arawa, Tūhoe, Waikato) observed the demonstration from nearby.

She said, in her opinion, it was driven by "ignorance and fear".
