Australian First Nation's Political Party (AFNPP) founder Maurie Japarta Ryan on Saturday led a group of Aboriginals and supporters to the steps of Old Parliament House, across the road from the Aboriginal Tent Embassy.
Mr Ryan, who is from the Northern Territory, told the crowd his family had been in Australia for 60,000 years and 2400 generations.

He announced the AFNPP would run candidates in this year's federal election, due in the second half of 2013, to give a voice to issues affecting indigenous communities.
The party was established in 2011 to contest the 2012 NT election and is Australia's first Aboriginal political party.
"Get up, get off the ground and stand up for your rights and those coming behind you," Mr Ryan told the crowd of about 50 people
