http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/labor-wedded-to-partners-in-marriage-equality-law-bid/story-fni6uok5-1227375396613

COUPLES could choose to use the term "partner'' instead of "husband" or "wife'' during wedding ceremonies under Labor's proposed marriage equality law.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten will on Monday introduce into Parliament a Bill to amend the Marriage Act to allow same-sex marriages.

The Bill proposes replacing the term "a man and a woman'' in the Marriage Act with "two people''. Straight and gay couples would both be permitted to be legally referred to as "partners''.

"This recognises that some couples prefer the word 'partner' to 'husband' or 'wife','' a memo on the Bill says. Ministers of religion would be exempt from conducting same-sex weddings if they were inconsistent with their beliefs.

The amended Marriage Act would recognise same-sex marriages officiated overseas.

The proposition Bill is likely to be replaced by legislation jointly sponsored by Labor and Liberal MPs.

Labor Leader Bill Shorten yesterday defended his decision to introduce the Bill before the Liberal Party has voted on whether to give MPs and senators a conscience vote.

Mr Shorten said he wanted to work with members of all parties on the issue but was being hampered by the lack of a conscience vote within the Liberal Party.

"There is not a hope for marriage equality in Australia while Tony Abbott does not allow a free vote for Liberal MPs,'' Mr Shorten said.

"On this issue it is not a Liberal or Labor issue. It's just an issue of how we treat people.''

O.K when is this going to stop what about a marriage act to allow people to marry girls under age? Or multiple people should we have a free for all?

FACEBOOK has slammed shut a racist and violent site depicting street fights and bashings, many involving intoxicated Aboriginal people, and which the Race Discrimination Commissioner described as "disgusting".

The NT News first reported about the "N.T Fights" Facebook back in January.

On Friday, the page had 36,000 followers but revealed a level racial hatred that should disturb all Australians.

The site was closed only hours after News Corp Australia alerted both Race Discrimination Commissioner Tim Soutphommasane and Facebook Australia, both of whom stated they were appalled by the content.

Brutal content
The site featured supposedly humorous voice-dubs over shocking scenes, such as a seated Aboriginal man — apparently a drunk itinerant — being kicked full-on in the face by another Aboriginal man.

The moment where the man's head snaps back and hits the ground is looped on fast replay, apparently for comedic effect. The clip was viewed 140,000 times.

The thousands of vile comments on the site suggest that the nation — which at the elite level talks of reconciliation as being close to a done deal — has a long way to go in the lead-up to a referendum recognising indigenous Australians in the constitution. ;D ???Oh Duh ???

Dr Soutphommasane called N.T Fights "quite simply disgusting and abhorrent" and earlier in the day said he would urgently ask Facebook to shut the site.

Facebook Australia initially said it would refer N.T Fights to its US data managers to assess whether it breached their policy, but after looking at the page themselves decided to make the call and instantly removed the site.

Bigot brigade

Brenton Jones is one of almost 3000 people who made comment about the kicking video. He wrote: "Coon count. Bit of boong r and r."

Ashley Cromwell wrote: "All aboriginals are trouble makers like black negroes in America."

Jess Sailgari said: "Filthy f**king things they are."

Allen Patterson commented: "watch the do good dick-wits scream racist for even showing this."

The NT News reported on the site in January, with police at the time warning that the videos, all shot on smart phones, could form the basis of evidence in prosecutions.

However, the issue goes beyond that, revealing a profoundly toxic free-flowing racist and scatological commentary and ultra-violent vision that was "liked" by thousands and not moderated by the site's creator.

'Have a laugh'

The man, whose identity is not known, told News Corp Australia in a Facebook exchange in January: "I started the page as a joke to have a laugh with a few mates and see how many likes it could get."

However, Dr Soutphommasane said: "This material has no place in our society and I'm very disturbed by it. We should take a very dim view of anyone who revels in physical violence and who celebrates racial bigotry."

A Facebook spokesman said: "We have removed this page for violating our community standards."

The company said it wanted Facebook to be a safe environment and would not allow attacks on people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or disease.

... Still .. The individual would have taken it upon themselves to remove the sticker/flyer . Had they have not have made their own choice to do this they wouldn't have done this to themselves! You can't be to blame because somebody made their own choice to pull it down with out the use of adequate PPE or the correct tools.

It is a bit like saying "Well I picked up the phone receiver on the Phone booth and I think Mr Brown was the guy that put the LSD  solution on it , he knew it was absorbed through the skin. Mr Brown has been prosecuted for dealing LSD before."

"Money isn't my currency , my currency is blood!" Ken Mc Clelland /Brutal attack.

Ha ha ;D So I can imagine this:- "Hello Sir,sorry to bother you this morning. This is the Cun+stubble d1ck head from the Scottish police, we are conducting an investigation into these people that go around sticking bits of paper up on public property.

They have been very naughty people you see they are serial "litter bugs" they have been putting up bits of paper around the place that indicate they love their race and we see this as hateful and provocative, we have even seen them leave a big flag with a letter "W" on it .

We can't just grab that and throw that in the dumpster we need to get the culprit he's dangerous to the community.. what would people say if they really found out heir own nation was getting ripped away from under their feet?"  :angel

http://www.ntnews.com.au/news/northern-territory/four-young-boys-arrested-after-leading-cops-on-low-speed-chase/story-fnk0b1zt-1227372610428

POLICE have described the arrest of four youths — including a 12-year-old, two 13-year-olds and a 15-year-old — over a low-speed pursuit as a "sad state of affairs".

The youths were arrested after leading police on a low-speed pursuit through Karama*Dodgy area with Coon housing trust* about 12.30am Thursday.

Superintendent Brendan Muldoon said the arrests "make you wonder what's going on at home".

Police were responding to reports a car had been left in the middle of Kalymnos Drv, Karama. He said as police responded, the car was spotted being driven by a group of five youths.

Checks quickly revealed the blue Mazda sedan had been stolen.

Supt Muldoon said police attempted to stop the car, but the youths dodged them. He said the pursuit lasted about 15 minutes before police were able to stop the car.

"The youths then fled on foot, and members were able to chase them down and arrest four."

A fifth youth escaped.

Supt Muldoon said they would be interviewed some time on Thursday.
