Protest organiser Robert "Bear" Cameron, a member of the Gypsy Jokers for about 20 years, said the concerns were about the Government's push to take the authority for declarations away from the courts.

"Why should it be up to politicians to make that decision when they can't get anything right, let alone know if someone is guilty or not," he said.


Failed independent Upper House candidate Mark Aldridge and members of the Liberal Democrats and the Free Australia Party also spoke at the rally.

The Government's legislation would declare 27 bikie gangs, including the Gyspy Jokers, Hells Angels, Mongols and Rebels illegal, with no avenue for appeal.

FABIAN Brock's accused murderer sprayed "about 30" shots across the Top End around the time the young father died, Darwin Magistrates Court has heard. 
 
More details have emerged about the chain of events that led to Mr Brock's death on June 13, after a man appeared in court accused of seeking revenge for his mate's murder.

Alfred Walker, 40, was released on bail on Thursday less than 12 hours after he was charged with two counts of ­unlawful assault, aggravated unlawful entry and going armed in public.

Defence lawyer Peter Maley said Walker, who was to marry his long-time partner on Friday, would plead guilty to at least three of the offences.

A COUNTRY council boss has admitted he quit his $1million contract in protest over a decision to fly the rainbow flag because it conflicted with his views despite the effect on his family.


His dramatic resignation came after debate over whether the council should consider "flying the rainbow flag celebrating diversity" during the Feast Festival over a fortnight in November.

Councils throughout South Australia were asked to fly the flag during the festival, which is the state's largest "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer," cultural festival.

The council voted in favour of flying the flag, but resolved that Mr Harder would have discretion on the specific location.

Greek Prime Minister Alex Tsipras had already made it clear his government would not be paying the 1.6 billion euros repayment required to keep the bailout package and his 11th hour appeal for a stall on the default was seen more as an attempt to again convince his people Europe was at fault for the crisis.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel emphasised that no discussions about Greece could happen before this Sunday's referendum where Greek voters are to be asked yes or no to remaining in the Eurozone with the government urging its people to vote no.


"Before the planned referendum is carried out, we will not negotiate over anything new," she said on Wednesday.
