Just an average day on Australian public transport - except for the miracle that one was arrested

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13604245/adelaide-train-passengers-attacked-elizabeth-station.html

A 27-year-old man * Black bastard has been banned from public transport for three months and charged with three counts of assault and affray following the incident in Adelaide on Friday morning

He'd boarded a citybound train with a beer in his hand before allegedly attacking three elderly men on the Gawler line.

Phil Fiskin, one of the men who was allegedly attacked, said he will 'never ride public transport again' after he was beaten and spat on in front of his wife.

'He ranted and raved at me that I was a racist pig ... and then he (allegedly) spat blood in my face,' Mr Fiskin, who suffered a black eye, told 7News.

'He (allegedly) belted me. I was against the window and the chair, I couldn't even get my hands up.'

Mr Fiskin was allegedly punched several times in the head before an 89-year-old passenger was attacked.

'He came racing down and then bang!' John Webb said.

'Then he got [my] bike and threw it on the rail. He's an idiot, a lunatic.'

Police were called to Elizabeth South Station when the train was forced to stop, along with paramedics who treated one elderly man for minor injuries.

It wasn't until a father stepped in and tackled the alleged attacker to the ground that his reign of terror ended.

Another passenger who was not injured, Jean Watson, said the man who stood up to the alleged attacker was 'defending his family'.

She called him a 'hero' and thanked him on behalf of everyone else on the train.

Trains on the Gawler line were delayed for about half-an-hour due to the incident.

The Elizabeth Downs man will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court.

More Abo crime - White victims and Black offender. These kind of incidents are ramping up bad now! The racial discriminatory baby bonus allowed Abos to breed up and now the Govt doesn't know how to control them, and they split them up so places don't become "no-go zones"; but all it takes is one Abo to spoil a neighbourhood.

An outback Australian town could be on the verge of another lockdown to combat a growing crime epidemic after four off-duty police officers were allegedly attacked

The Northern Territory Police Commissioner is considering introducing the snap curfew in crime-ravaged Alice Springs following an alleged assault on Sunday

One male and three female officers were allegedly assaulted by a gang of 20 male youths on the Todd River walkway in the Red Centre near the Stott Terrace bridge at about 2.15am on Sunday.

The off-duty officers were heading back to their hotel when they were approached from behind by the youths who allegedly proceeded to allegedly assault them.

One female officer was allegedly pulled to the ground and had her bag stolen, another female was allegedly punched in the face and kicked multiple times and had her mobile phone taken.

The male officer was also allegedly punched and kicked multiple times.

The group then left the area as the our off-duty officers returned to their accommodation where they contacted police.

Two of the female officers were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
NT Police Minister Brent Potter condemned the attack and confirmed the Territory's Police Commissioner Michael Murphy may introduce a 72-hour lockdown to restore order.

Mr Potter said the incident was 'criminal' and 'predatory in nature' and the four victims 'just so happened' to be police officers.

He said Commissioner Murphy is considering every option and a decision would be made on Monday.

'I can tell you right now he is looking at the curfew,' Mr Potter said.

Mr Potter said it had been a 'horror 72 hours' in Alice Springs, following an alleged stabbing in the CBD, and  police officer was run over outside a bottle shop.

Sunday's shocking incident comes after new legislation was introduced in May by Chief Minister Eva Lawler granting the Police Commissioner the power to enforce snap 72-hour lockdowns.

A three-week nightly curfew was imposed in April, banning youths from Alice Spring's CBD between 6pm and 6am.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12976685/Unrest-continues-Alice-Springs-windscreens-windows-18-cars-smashed-youths-apartment-complexs-private-parking-area-Worst-yet.html

Trouble continues in the Northern Territory town of Alice Springs with the latest crime spree leaving 18 car windscreens and windows smashed by youths

The damaged vehicles were all in a private parking area of the River Gum apartment complex on Gap Road, with the destruction taking place about 2.15am Thursday morning
Video capturing the damage was posted to Action For Alice 2020's Facebook page, which described it as 'one of the worst destructive incidents yet'.

Residents and police believe the damage was likely caused by four or five youths who entered the property and created havoc.

It is believed nothing was stolen from inside the cars but every vehicle had been extensively damaged. It's not known whether all residents had insurance.

The rampage didn't favour any type of vehicle - with new and old cars targeted, as well as 4WDs and small hatchbacks.

Frustrated locals were disgusted by the brazen vandalism.

'Everyday, every night this disgusting urban terrorism continues,' one said.

'Give nothing, absolutely nothing of tax payers money until this senseless destruction stops,' one wrote.

Northern Territory anti-crime advocate and local business owner Darren Clarke told Sky News residents had been woken by the sound of glass smashing.

'They went out and there were four to five Indigenous youths fleeing the complex,' he said.

The advocate also said the area where the cars were parked was a fenced off area that had automated gates.

While residents reported being woken up by smashing glass around 2.15am, Northern Territory police told Daily Mail Australia it received a report about the incident from security at 3.54am.

The local business owner said money had been given to the town, but it hasn't been used to improve the CBD and surrounding areas.

He alleges council was given $2m to improve lighting and safety, but the area is still in darkness.

'They've put one lot of cameras in the CBD, one pole. Even one of the solar panels on that has been smashed,' he said.

The Federal Government announced in February 2023 a landmark $48.8m package to Central Australia to improve safety, as well as tackling alcohol issues and providing opportunities for youths.

Part of this was $2m to upgrade CCTV and lighting in Alice Springs.

Mr Clarke said the apartments are located on a street where 11 lights were not operational.

Daily Mail Australia understands Alice Springs Town Council did receive Commonwealth Government funding in December 2023 so lighting and CCTV could be upgraded.

The funding agreement states work is due to be completed by April 30, 2024.

Alice Springs mayor Matt Paterson told Daily Mail Australia they had asked for the funding and are 'grateful' for it.

'Communities like Alice Springs, and many similar to us across the country, have unique challenges delivering programs on time and under budget,' he said.

'We have actioned things as quickly as possible but it's incredibly difficult to get contractors in a timely manner in an isolated part of the country.

'While things have not progressed as quickly as anticipated, the funding paperwork was also not finalised until December 2023.

'I think this is a really good opportunity for Canberra to understand some of the challenges we face in Central Australia. We are progressing things as quickly as possible.'

Mr Clarke said residents do not feel safe leaving their home and believes more police patrols are needed at night, although he concedes there is a lack of staff.

'They should have a permanent three to four cars patrolling every night and they just don't do it. They don't have the staff to do it,' he said.

Northern Territory Police have urged anyone to come forward with information about the incident.

After receiving a report about the carnage they attended the scene to interview residents and gather forensic evidence.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said the criminal damage was a 'deplorable act.

'[It] not only inflicts financial harm on the victims, but also disrupts the ability of these people going about their day,' he said.

https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/crime/police-respond-to-brawl-in-alice-springs-with-reports-of-weapons-ahead-of-final-night-of-towns-curfew/news-story/8b12fcfd175087c4d4bdf5eb5e2b8103

A massive brawl has broken out in the centre of Alice Springs prompting a major police operation ahead of the final night of the town's curfew

Police have descended on central Alice Springs after a major brawl broke out in a prominent thoroughfare as the nighttime curfew could be extended.
The snap 72-hour lockdown announced on Monday was triggered after four off-duty police officers were ambushed by a group of 20 men over the weekend.

The Police Commissioner Michael Murphy quickly acted after laws were passed in May which gave the government the authority to enact an immediate curfew.
But while adults and children are prevented from entering Alice's town centre between 10pm and 6am, it has not stopped violence breaking out during the day.

The massive brawl on Wednesday erupted outside the Coles on Gregory Terrace and Bath Street with witnesses reporting "many weapons" in plain sight, according to the Action for Alice Facebook group.
About 50 people, both adults and teens assembled in the Coles carpark with multiple spot fires breaking out, SkyNews.com.au understands.

Footage has also emerged showing a heavy police presence descending on the area to quell the violence.

Multiple arrests were made while police have confirmed the situation is under control.

Two females aged 17 and 19, as well as three males aged 21, 26 and 42 were all arrested at the scene after multiple police units including Strike Force Viper, the Dog Operations Unit and members from the Southern Traffic Operation arrived on the scene.

However, locals have told SkyNews.com.au there was no visible police presence around the town centre when the brawl broke out

Alice Springs business owner and founder of Action for Alice, Darren Clark said while officers arrived "pretty quickly", there very few police vehicles around the scene during the day.

He explained, during the last snap curfew in March there were typically multiple groups of four officers patrolling the streets in the day.

Mr Clarke said the government had failed to adequately equip the town with appropriate resources this time around.

"The last few hours have been pretty unsteady," Mr Clark told SkyNews.com.au

"They've got to get more boots on the ground and have a really strong presence in the middle of the day."

As the curfew will come to an end at 6am on Thursday, the government is considering extending the measure for a further few days.

Police Minister Brent Potter said the decision would not be made until Thursday, according to the ABC.

The curfew has been welcomed by locals as an effective stop gap measure to quell the emerging crime crisis, according to Alice Springs Mayor Matt Paterson.

Mr Paterson said while the situation at night was not "perfect" there was an obvious and noticeable difference.

He also said after the last curfew ended there were knock-on effects which reenergised the town.

"It was actually a really nice place to live from the last curfew. It's actually made a dramatic impact," Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia on Tuesday.

"So, whatever they did 12 weeks ago has clearly worked, and we've just had a small hiccup.

"But people are frustrated and, you know, they don't celebrate the decision for a curfew, they welcome it because they want to be safe."

However the police response has not been met with universal praise, with the CEO of the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC), Catherine Middleton telling The Guardian there was "no evidence that snap curfews like this work".

Indigenous Australians Minister Linda Burney was asked on Tuesday if she supported the NT Police's decision, but she refused to respond, instead claiming long-term funding commitments were the "only" solution to growing crime.
