The eminent paediatrician's death is the most recent tragedy for his family after Kathryn Browne-Yung, his health policy expert wife, suddenly died in her sleep in March 2020.

Shortly after her death Dr Yung created a $5,000 scholarship to support Indigenous medical students in the name of his 'kind, thoughtful and intelligent' wife.

His family have requested for donations to be made to the Kathryn Browne-Yung Scholarship Fund In lieu of flowers.

The mother of a woman accused of killing a beloved surgeon with her boyfriend has been viciously and unfairly attacked online

Kerem Aydin, 22, and his partner Jacinta Davila, 27, were arrested while shopping at Torrensville Plaza in Adelaide's inner-west with their eight-month-old daughter at about 7.30pm on Tuesday following the death of Dr Michael Yung, 61.

Referring to each other as 'King' and 'Queen', the couple - who met in July 2022 - shared news of their holiday in Turkey, delighting loved ones with news of their engagement and newborn daughter's birth.

Aydin, who is of Turkish background and refers to himself as 'The Turk', is currently a student at TAFE SA and has worked several different jobs.

The guy has either a Turkish or Armenian or Arabic name. The wife could be 1/2 middle eastern? They aren't Abos though but the crime has the hallmarks of Boongs!

UPDATE: He is a Turk. He'll do time for the killing and be deported. With luck, we'll get rid of her and the brat too.

Emergency services rushed to an aged-care home in Coffs Harbour on the NSW north coast following reports a 76-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted in her room during the early hours of January 1.

Police were told a man perverted pavement ape had allegedly entered the woman's room, sexually assaulted her and then fled the scene on foot just before 2.30am.

Excerpt: A wild brawl has erupted outside a Melbourne reception centre after protesters against the regime of African nation Eritrea clashed with supporters.

The gathering in St Albans in the city's north-west on Saturday turned violent when both groups began hurling rocks and bricks and ripping out fences.

Inside the centre, supporters of the Eritrean government were holding a cultural festival while the protests were organised by members of the pro-democracy youth movement Birged Nhamedu who wear signature blue clothing.

A fence was ripped out from the property and windows were smashed as more than 100 people from both sides joined in the brawl.

More than 14 people were injured and 10 were so badly hurt they needed hospital treatment.

Blood could be seen on the ground outside the centre on Saturday afternoon.

Similar protests held between the Eritrean communities in the US, Canada, London and Germany have also descended into violence.

Victoria Police are investigating the brawl but there have been no charges laid as of Saturday night.

Trouble continues in the Northern Territory town of Alice Springs with the latest crime spree leaving 18 car windscreens and windows smashed by youthsMuds!

The damaged vehicles were all in a private parking area of the River Gum apartment complex on Gap Road, with the destruction taking place about 2.15am Thursday morning.

Video capturing the damage was posted to Action For Alice 2020's Facebook page, which described it as 'one of the worst destructive incidents yet'.

Residents and police believe the damage was likely caused by four or five youths who entered the property and created havoc.

It is believed nothing was stolen from inside the cars but every vehicle had been extensively damaged. It's not known whether all residents had insurance

The rampage didn't favour any type of vehicle - with new and old cars targeted, as well as 4WDs and small hatchbacks.

Frustrated locals were disgusted by the brazen vandalism.

'Everyday, every night this disgusting urban terrorism continues,' one said.

'Give nothing, absolutely nothing of tax payers money until this senseless destruction stops,' one wrote.

Northern Territory anti-crime advocate and local business owner Darren Clarke told Sky News residents had been woken by the sound of glass smashing.

'They went out and there were four to five Indigenous youths fleeing the complex,' he said.

The advocate also said the area where the cars were parked was a fenced off area that had automated gates.

While residents reported being woken up by smashing glass around 2.15am, Northern Territory police told Daily Mail Australia it received a report about the incident from security at 3.54am

The local business owner said money had been given to the town, but it hasn't been used to improve the CBD and surrounding areas.

He alleges council was given $2m to improve lighting and safety, but the area is still in darkness

'They've put one lot of cameras in the CBD, one pole. Even one of the solar panels on that has been smashed,' he said.

The Federal Government announced in February 2023 a landmark $48.8m package to Central Australia to improve safety, as well as tackling alcohol issues and providing opportunities for youths.

Part of this was $2m to upgrade CCTV and lighting in Alice Springs.

Mr Clarke said the apartments are located on a street where 11 lights were not operational.

Daily Mail Australia understands Alice Springs Town Council did receive Commonwealth Government funding in December 2023 so lighting and CCTV could be upgraded.

The funding agreement states work is due to be completed by April 30, 2024.

Alice Springs mayor Matt Paterson told Daily Mail Australia they had asked for the funding and are 'grateful' for it.

'Communities like Alice Springs, and many similar to us across the country, have unique challenges delivering programs on time and under budget,' he said
