Why would the DOJ lie about this?

 Mystery still surrounds the horrific attack on House Speaker Nancy  Pelosi's husband Paul Pelosi at the couple's home in San Francisco.  Namely, who opened the door when police showed up? The initial police account of the attack indicated that an unnamed  third person opened the door when police arrived. Later, the DOJ's  narrative of events said police officers opened the door. Now, NBC is  reporting that a source who has seen the bodycam footage said the  footage clearly shows Paul Pelosi opening the door.

 So far, there has been no public statement from local SF law  enforcement or the Department of Justice about why there have been so  many discrepancies between the various narratives of the events that  night. Although Democrats and the mainstream media attempted to cast  Pelosi's attacker, David DePape, as a right-wing activist somehow  inspired by Republican political rhetoric, subsequent reporting has  revealed DePape was a one-time Barack Obama supporter and a frequent  user of hard drugs.
 

Once again - Paul Pelosi opened the door!

 In other words, rather than a political extremist,  he was just a nut (and an illegal alien from Canada). But that didn't  stop left-wing political commentators from weaponizing DePape's actions  prior to the midterm elections.

San Francisco court officials announced late Thursday
They will release the Paul Pelosi attack video

 The court is expected to release the 911 call and the video of the alleged attack. The tape will be available at 9 AM. The police body camera video showing the attack on former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband at their San Francisco home last October will be released to the media on Friday morning... A statement released by the San Francisco Superior Court said the video and audio in the case of the People vs. David DePape will be made "available to accredited media members" Friday morning at 9 a.m. in accordance with Judge Stephen M. Murphy's order Wednesday. Media representatives will be able to pick up the CD's containing the footage and audio recordings from clerks at the Hall of Justice once the provide identification, a completed criminal records request form and a $25 payment.
 
 A San Francisco judge on Wednesday granted a motion to release SFPD body cam footage of the Paul Pelosi attack and other evidence sought by a coalition of news organizations. The coalition includes the Associated Press, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Press Democrat, CNN, Fox News, CBS, ABC, NBC, and KQED.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking a 40-year prison sentence for David DePape, the man convicted of attacking now-former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) husband in October 2022.

Federal prosecutors said Friday that the sentence would "reflect the nature and circumstances of the offense," USA Today reported on Saturday.

When the initial incident happened at the Pelosi residence in San Francisco, California, police were dispatched to the scene and later said DePape attacked Pelosi's husband, Paul, with a hammer, Breitbart News noted.

Jurors later convicted DePape of assault for the attack on the elderly man, whose skull he fractured, according to an AFP report from November.

DePape, a Canadian, also lived in a hippie commune in Berkeley while allegedly residing in the United States illegally.
