An Illinois gun manufacturer has unveiled an AR-15 style rifle for children it has called the JR-15 and marketed it with the tag line 'It operates just like mom and dad's gun.

The assault rifle, whose name stands for Junior-15, is 20 percent smaller than a regular AR-15 and weighs 2.3lbs, but its maker, Wee1 Tactical, promises that the firearm packs the same deadly punch as its full-sized version

The .22-caliber long rifle was introduced last month at the SHOT show in Las Vegas, which is billed as the nation's largest shooting, hunting and outdoor industry trade show.

The event was sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms industry that is based in Newtown, Connecticut, which, incidentally, was the site of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre that left 20 children and six adults dead

I had to wait until I was 12 years old to fire an M16! I feel so deprived.

If an Australian kid is caught with a slingshot, or even a stick that fell from a tree, they can do some serious prison time.

There are some guns you can have in Australia but you must have the right license for that gun and obey how they want you to store it in order to not be punished.

It is very strict and rules vary depending on your jurisdiction. The guns we have here are nowhere near as many as what you can buy in the US. The only time you see firearms in public are generally:- security, cops and army.

Going armed in public is an offence, if you have a weapon the facts are you gotta explain why to the Judge.

I know it's crazy to Americans but in Australia the only places I feel I require a gun is when I've been in zones populated heavily by either:- Boongs, Africans or Arabs. It's only a new thing for us since 2005's Cronulla riots our community wanted guns to fight non whites. You need to remember for 100 years we had the White Australia Policy with a couple of exceptions. It is generally safe on the whole. You'd get it if you visited a while, but hard for you to envisage if you haven't experienced our nation. It is not so "dog eat dog" really.

In some places the Boongs were once under the "Flora and Fauna" act and if they got on your turf you were permitted to shoot them without penalty if you chose! ...Quite the opposite nowadays though.

In Australia forget it! Kids would never be allowed guns! Perhaps in Army cadets?!

We didn't give up our gun rights - the government slowly implemented laws. It began with needing to show identification to buy guns, followed by gun registration, then gun licenses. Finally there was a False Flag Op with a couple of dozen people killed in under a minute by prick so retarded he couldn't pick his nose without the assistance of a counsellor. Every politician in Australia worked themselves up into an anti-Gun frenzy and demanded every gun in the country be confiscated from ever ordinary person. Legislation was whipped up, and a month later THEY TOOK AWAY OUR GUNS.

By then, I already had been falsely accused by a bitch of a wife and corrupt police of domestic violence. People under Domestic Violence Orders are not permitted to own or possess weapons.

The following people are not permitted to own or possess weapons of any kind in South Australia (I assume the same for the rest of Australia as well): Creators and supporters, members of the Australia First Party and supporters, skinhead gang members and affiliates, anyone White report as Racist for saying "No" to a Mud, outlaw motorcycle club members and affiliates, anyone that rides a motorcycle that police don't happen to like, and anyone that has posted a "Right-Wing" style meme to Facebook, and probably everyone White that ever signed up to Gab.com. You can add to that list anyone White that ever watched a WWII documentary video on YouTube, anyone that's ever Liked a Politically Incorrect Meme, and anyone that ever thought to question the HoloHOAX. Of course, none of that is written into law. It is, however, how the police choose to utilise existing legislation in line with current government prejudices.

Regulated imitation firearm
The definition of regulated imitation firearm has changed. A firearm is a regulated imitation firearm and requires registration
if it:
• can be adapted to fire ammunition with a moderate exercise of effort and skill; and
• is constructed of materials strong enough to sustain firing ammunition, paint-balls, airgun pellets or other similar projectiles.
A regulated imitation firearm belongs to the category to which it imitates.

Children's toys, BB guns and Airsoft guns
A device designed for the purposes of children's play (a children's toy) that fires toy projectiles is not a firearm and does not need to be registered. BB guns and Airsoft guns are firearms and must be registered to a licence holder (Regulation 5 of the Firearms Regulations 2017)
