There are fears Olivia Winnie Muranga and Diana Lasu's extraordinary disregard for COVID-19 rules could spark a Victoria-style outbreak in Queensland, which recorded its first community transmission in two months on Wednesday

The pair, both 19, arrived together in Brisbane from Melbourne via Sydney on July 21 and made false declarations on their border paperwork.

On Wednesday night they were fined $4,000 each - along with a travel buddy still waiting on her results - after living the high life around Brisbane for eight days. 

Ms Muranga is believed to have gone to work for two days at Parklands Christian College in Park Ridge, south of the city, before calling in sick and then going to see a doctor on Saturday, who said to get tested immediately.

She didn't do so until Monday.

Instead she continued to attend venues in Ipswich and Brisbane, including going to a Thai restaurant in Springfield on Sunday and a Southbank cocktail bar on Monday.   

Police have launched a criminal investigation into the 19-year-olds, who between them visited 11 venues in Brisbane while infected

South Australia's latest coronavirus cluster linked with two Adelaide schools has expanded as authorities launch an urgent public health alert amid a surge of new COVID-19 patients.

Chief public health officer Professor Nicola Spurrier announced on Tuesday that two new cases have been discovered. Two women in their 20s have tested positive overnight, including one woman linked to SA's fifth cluster.

"You could say it's a pivotal day; we're starting to see the cases mount up in South Australia," she said

"Unfortunately this young woman has been to a number of public places – I am aware that there is a restaurant or coffee shop, a retail facility and a gym that they have visited during the time she was infected, and we will be providing information to the public about those locations as soon as possible."

The second case is believed to have resulted from community transmission, and further details are expected to be released this afternoon.

After authorities discovered new information about the group's community movements while contagious, Prof Spurrier issued an urgent alert about several northern suburbs businesses they visited. The locations include a gym, juice bar and Persian rug business in Salisbury Downs, Blair Athol and Kilburn.

A secondary alert has also been issued for two schools – at Gepps Cross and Torrensville – and a Walkerville pub.

About 70 students have gone into hotel quarantine while over 1,000 more ordered to self isolate after a young Adelaide woman tested positive to coronavirus.

The woman, aged in her 20s, is a student at Thebarton Senior College, a school for adult learners which will remain closed for another fortnight

She is the fifth case linked to the school cluster sparked by another young woman who visited the college while infected.

The latest case has mild symptoms and is in a stable condition
Seventy of her classmates considered to be close contacts are now in quarantine under police guard at the Pullman Hotel.

Another 1,100 students and staff at the school have been ordered to self-isolate at home until August 15.

Health officials say they're doing everything to keep the cluster under control to ensure it doesn't spark a widespread outbreak.

'We have not got community transmission in South Australia in any way in widespread form, this is why we are being absolutely over cautious in this instance,' Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier said.

The school cluster accounts for five of the eight active cases across the state
'The Thebarton Senior College does have a range of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds of the students attending,' Professor Spurrier said.

'These are young people, and vulnerable young people, and we'll also be engaging some support from social workers as well.'

Thebarton Senior College has been closed for the last week for deep cleaning.

The college was due to reopen on Friday before the latest case was confirmed on Thursday afternoon

I was told by one of our sources that the contaminated 20 year old female adult student in Adelaide is definitely a mud. And it picked up the disease in Victoria, taking part in Black Lives Matter protests and mixing with Muslims. I don't have confirmation, but the assumption is that it is a Muslim itself.

Excerpt: Guests in hotel quarantine have been slammed by police after they were caught spitting out of windows and off balconies.

South Australian police were called to the Peppers Hotel in Adelaide on Tuesday where more than 200 repatriated Non-White Australians are in quarantine after claims of spitting from the building.

A South Australia Police spokesman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia officers were called to the hotel.

'They were spoken to and given an official warning and that was the end of the matter,' the spokesman said.

While they weren't charged all guests in the hotel were warned further spitting incidents would result in a fine or prosecution.

The 272 passengers had arrived on two separate flights with Air India and Singapore Airlines at 12.30pm on Tuesday.
