Vandals have tagged one of Australia's oldest mosques with Islamophobic and neo-Nazi phrases - as well as the name of the accused Christchurch shooter

The Islamic Council of Queensland has condemned the graffiti attack on Holland Park Mosque in Brisbane in the early hours of Wednesday morning and say the community is now living in fear.

Horrified worshippers arrived at the mosque to find the entrance wall spray painted with the name St Tarrant, a reference to Australian white supremacist Brenton Tarrant who allegedly killed 51 Muslims while they prayed in Christchurch in March.

Also tagged on the walls was 'remove kebab' - a phrase written on the gun used in Christchurch - which was originally from a Serbian anti-Islam song about the massacre of Muslims in Bosnia

The neo-Nazi swastika symbol and phrase SS were also tagged on the entrance sign and a wall.

The vandalism has since been removed by a group of local schoolchildren who painted over the graffiti in a display of support for the Muslim community.

The shocking vandalism coincided with the 18th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks which claimed almost 3000 lives, including 10 Australians.

Worshippers at the mosque now fear for their safety.

'This threat is real after Christchurch, this kind of threat has became real and it put fear in the community,' Islamic Council of Queensland spokesman Ali Kadri told Nine News.

He suspects the vandalism is the work of white supremacists.

'It is related to the neo-Nazi and white supremacist movements. Whoever has done this is no child, they have been radicalised,'Mr Kadri told the Brisbane Times.

'This kind of graffiti at the mosque aims to terrorise the community, but it brings us together and we have had a lot of support from the wider community.'

State Multicultural Affairs Minister Stirling Hinchliffe condemned the vandalism attack in 'in the strongest possible way'.

'Queensland is a diverse state and these types of vile actions in no way reflect who Queenslanders are,' he posted on Facebook.

'We are a united and inclusive Queensland. We stand by our Muslim families and friends and the Queensland Police Service is doing everything to ensure that those responsible are caught and face justice
Federal MP Terri Butler added: 'Our community is vastly stronger than the anonymous coward who did this.

It's understood the vandalism occurred between between 2.30 and 4.30am on Wednesday.

Police spent the day at the scene collecting DNA and will examine CCTV from the mosque.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia it is investigating reports of willful damage at the mosque

No good activism here, just childish pranks! ... if it was really a pro white activist? Could have been a Muslim , could have been a Jew doing this to stir the pot?

We all have our opinions on Muslims and how in compatible they are with Western society but I am sure we can all agree here this sort of thing makes trouble for legal activists  and these people who do understand Muslims are not compatible could be put to better use given some education.

It may be 2,000 klicks north of Adelaide, but I know the area well. Brisbane is full of Serbs, who do use the term Kebab in reference to Muslims. So, as @Br.IanVonTurpie said, it could have been Muslims themselves (I expect Croats), or Jews, which makes it Hate-Crime Fraud.

The thing is, if it was Serbs, then "REMOVE KEBAB" becomes cultural - Multicultural even - because those Serbs typically hate White Australians. They fervently believe in Multiculturalism - just without Islam.

I find the Slavs to be very territorial. There are different kinds of Slavs though.

It seems the Slavs are arguably the whites keenest on keeping their European heritage? Everybody else in Europe is happy for multiculturalism to wreck their lands it seems?

It seems like Tarrant spent time in Serbia? He could have met people who were very anti Muslim or even people involved in violence towards Muslims?

Then again this guy spent time in Muslim places such as :-Pakistan and enjoyed it as well as having an extended stay in Turkey!

Too many things just don't add up with the event. Some people believe it was impossible for him to get around Christchurch in the time he did to commit the crimes as well as others believing he was assisted by others?

Anyway you can't compare some provocative spray paint to carrying out a massacre.

Saudi Arabia has launched an extraordinary attack on Australia calling its government racist for its 'sympathising' with the Christchurch mosque killer

Abdulaziz Alwasil, Riyadh's Ambassador to the United Nations, said the country's sympathy for Muslim haters had led to the massacre of 51 people by Brenton Tarrant in March.

In the aftermath of the killings Australia rejected as 'distasteful' claims that its counter-terrorism agencies had neglected the threat of right-wing 'extremists' such as Tarrant because they were too heavily focused on the threat from Muslim terrorists.

'These extremists groups – neo-Nazis, or white supremacists, extreme right wing groups, whatever term you want to apply to them, they've been squarely on their radar,' said Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton said of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.

'They are well and truly looking at this threat, they are dealing with the threat and to think that they've just discovered it or they are coming late to the party is complete rubbish'.

Australia's Ambassador to the UN, Sally Mansfield, had delivered her address to the 47-strong United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, of which Saudi Arabia is a member

In statement backed by the UK, Canada, Germany and New Zealand, she said: 'We remain deeply concerned at the human rights situation in Saudi Arabia. Civil society actors in Saudi Arabia still face persecution and intimidation.

'Human rights defenders, women's rights activists, journalists and dissidents remain in detention or under threat.

'We are concerned at reports of torture, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, unfair trials and harassment of individuals engaged in promoting and defending human rights, their families and colleagues'.

These guys think Australian government wanted him to go on the massacre? They got called out for their own human rights violations so this is "wriggle room" . We don't know just yet for sure if a foreign Government recruited Tarrant to do the massacre .

In general Australians dislike Muslims because of the Gang and violent/ criminal behaviour they always engage in!

Counter terrorism investigators have charged a New South Wales man for allegedly making a number of "concerning" right-wing extremist posts online.

As part of ongoing investigations into extremist activity on the internet, an operation late yesterday saw a 43-year-old man arrested in Newcastle.

The NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team became aware of "a number of concerning posts with right-wing extremist views on social media" earlier this week, police allege

A subsequent investigation commenced into alleged threats of violence
At 5.10pm, officers from Newcastle Police District and Police Transport Command, assisted by specialist officers from Tactical Operations Regional Support, arrested the man near Cleary and Beaumont Streets in Hamilton.

"Following a search of the man and his backpack, police seized a mobile phone, which will undergo forensic examination," a spokesperson said

The man was taken to Newcastle Police Station for questioning and subsequently charged with use carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

He was refused bail and was due to appear in local court today.

Police have urged anyone with information about extremist activity or possible threats to the community to come forward, no matter how small or insignificant you may think the information may be. The National Security Hotline is 1800 123 400.

So using a carriage service to talk about white nationalism is naughty!
