Four Pakistani brothers and a Nepali student were convicted and imprisoned for the rapes.

Extract: A WOMAN who was gang-raped at 14 says the greatest injustice she suffered was her treatment in the courtroom.

Tegan Wagner, 29, has launched a bid to stop in-court victim blaming during an emotional interview on Nine's60 Minutes.

The Sydney woman was a victim of the notorious Ashfield Gang Rapists — a group responsible for committing a series of attacks involving the indecent assault and rape of young women at knifepoint.

Ms Wagner was invited to a local house party with a group of friends when she was assaulted by three brothers in 2002. She was just a teenager and had never been kissed before or drunk alcohol.

"After I left the bathroom, that's when things took a turn. I was taken into a bedroom by one of the boys," she told Tara Brown.

"I was saying no, I was saying stop, but I couldn't do anything. Then the next guy came in, and he pushed me back down.

"I said no, but then he started raping me. And then he left the room and I found my underwear and I tried to put my underwear on and leave the room ... that's when the last one came in.

"He slapped me across the face and said, 'Do you want me to stab you?' and I said, 'I don't want you to stab me'. Then he started raping me."

During a gruelling cross-examination that lasted three days, Ms Wagner said she was grilled with more than 2000 questions and "made to feel dirty" like a "slut".
"This was three days of hell," she said.

Extract: A VEHICLE licensing inspector who handed out truck drivers licences without conducting assessments has been the subject of a serious misconduct opinion by the Corruption and Crime Commission.

The report, tabled in Parliament today, reveals Previn Narayanan targeted Indian migrants predominantly from Punjab province to attain heavy vehicle licences from his Mines West Truck Driving School at Neerabup in Perth's northern suburbs.

As a contracted assessor with the Department of Transport, Mr Narayanan was supposed to assess the competence of students through practical driving assessments.

The CCC reported that during 2017 he did not do so.

"He made numerous false entries in the DoT license assessment provider system (LAPS) pretending he had carried out PDAs when he had not," the report read.

"He manipulated entries by falsifying times and dates to make it appear he had carried out assessments."

The CCC noted Mr Narayanan had admitted to falsifying the LAPS records, conduct which may constitute offences of falsifying a public record, punishable by up to seven years' jail under the Criminal Code.

A MUSLIM BUS driver's indignant fury at being given "the finger" by a slow motorcyclist led to a bizarre road-rage incident, which ended when the rider veered off the road and cannoned into a wheelie bin.

Najeebullah Aryobi's angry over-reaction to being held up by motorcyclist Joshua Luke brought and abrupt end to his bus-driving career and almost landed him in prison.

Aryobi was ferrying passengers on the 502 Route along Bridge Rd at Salisbury East on a January 2015 night, when he became frustrated by Mr Luke's riding — with the extraordinary events caught on dash-cam.

"(Mr Luke) was driving at about 10km under the speed limit so you flashed your high beam ... Mr Luke noticed this in his side mirror and became annoyed," District Court judge Simon Stretton said.

Aryobi, 33, moved the bus into the right-hand land but Mr Luke suddenly accelerated and stopped the manoeuvre.

Aryobi tailgated the rider after they turned onto Buckingham Rd as the incident escalated in front of bemused passengers.

"(Mr Luke) became more annoyed. He began to swerve to indicate this, then he sped up to get further away, lifting his front wheel under acceleration. He gave you the finger," Judge Stretton said.

Mr Luke, 24, stopped his motorbike briefly but upon seeing the bus pass again, chased it down and again rode in front of it with his middle finger raised.

"(He) veered with the bus' movement towards him and inadvertently drove off the road and collided with a wheelie bin near a bus stop," Judge Stretton said.

Aryobi continued on his route and only stopped when he saw police and ambulances at the scene on his return journey.

Mr Luke, who was fined $220 for not having proper control of his motorcycle, was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital with injuries including a partially severed toe and broken and degloved fingers.

Judge Stretton said Ayrobi had pleaded not guilty to causing harm by dangerous driving and leaving an accident scene but was convicted after a trial.

"Your actions were dangerous and reckless. You left Mr Luke on a suburban street, alone and late at night, with no assurance he would be able to obtain help," Judge Stretton said.

He accepted it was possible Aryobi did not intend to harm Mr Luke, "but acted out of sudden anger".

"Mr Luke accepts that due to his behaviour, including that he had his head turned toward you and was still giving you the finger when he came off the road, that he contributed to the accident."

Aryobi, who came to Australia from Afghanistan as a political refugee at 17, was asked to resign from the job he had held since 2010.

Judge Stretton said the issue of whether Aryobi should be imprisoned was "finely balanced", but agreed to give the father-of-three a second chance by suspending the 18-month jail term and banning him from driving for three years.

"If you breach the bond and commit any further offence ... you will be going to jail for a considerable period of time," he warned.

A Melbourne woman claims she was threatened with rape and robbed during two aggravated burglaries at her home in the city's south-east.

Noelene Nolan has told A Current Affair a group of at least three thugs stormed her Dandenong home in the middle of the night on April 27.

One of hooded intruders grabbed her.

"The one that had me by the scruff of the neck said 'I wonder what it'd be like to rape a white girl'," Ms Nolan said.

"The whole time they were in my bedroom they were screaming 'money', 'phones'. They said 'give me any valuables.' I thought I was going to be raped and killed."

Noelene Nolan claims she has been assaulted twice at home.

The thieves made off with a safe that was in Ms Nolan's home.

In July, the 43-year-old was returning to her property with her now-late mother, who was undergoing cancer treatme at the time.

Detectives from Narre Warren police are investigating the home invasions, but so far, no one has been apprehended.

Rates of crime from foreign-born Australians are rising in Melbourne.
It comes as new statistics reveal a sharp rise in the number of foreign-born offenders committing crimes in Victoria.

The independent data shows the number of aggravated burglaries committed by Sudanese-born criminals has soared 390 percent since 2014.

In the 2016-17 period, 98 Sudanese-born offenders were responsible for home invasions.

That compares to 28 New Zealanders and 20 Kenyans.

Motor vehicle theft by Sudanese-born youth in Victoria has climbed by 140 percent in the past three years.

The rise is more pronounced with Kenyan-born offenders - there's been a 320 percent increase since 2014.

More New Zealanders have committed car theft - but that number has remained steady over the past three years.

"There's no doubt looking at statistics that some elements of our community, particularly south Sudanese, have been over-represented in those statistics and shouldn't be," Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Stephen Leane said.

"I think that we've still got a long way to go from a police perspective.

"We're working to keep our communities safe around home invasions, and there's a lot of work to be done there. We can't deny that."

Carmel Guerra, from the Centre for Multicultural Youth Issues, said the solution to the problem was not as easy as jailing offenders.

"We need to address the reason behind youth offending," she said

"International research and our own programs tell us that locking them up does not affect change."

Extract: Police allege Indonesian national Wawan Pradiat, who is living in Australia on a 457 visa, filmed the women inside their bedrooms and bathrooms in two Surry Hills homes earlier this month.

They believe thousands of people watched the footage online through a livestream on a pornographic website before they were finally notified of the illegally filmed vision.
