Extract: A Sydney taxi driver and part-time university lecturer who left a 94-year-old woman to die on the road after a hit and run worked for six hours after the fatal crash.

"He clearly lacked any compassion," the niece of victim Suzzanne King told Sydney's District Court on Wednesday, where Mohammad "Mark" Farhad is being sentenced over the August 2015 incident at Crows Nest on the city's north shore.

Farhad, 51, smashed into the elderly woman as she tried to cross a road and knocked her about 30 metres, while driving in what the court heard were "perfect" conditions.

He stopped briefly but sped off and continued to work for about six hours, the court heard.

"We all appreciate that accidents happen, but for the defendant to have left our aunt dying on the road is beyond comprehension," Ms King's niece said.

"How could another human being do this?"

WOULD-be suicide bombers allegedly planned to blow up the heart of Melbourne on Christmas Day in a terror attack aimed at unleashing destruction and causing mass casualties.

Flinders St station, Federation Square and St Paul's Cathedral were allegedly major targets of an Islamic State-inspired plot. It's claimed common household goods were stockpiled at the Meadow Heights home of the group's suspected ringleader to fuel the deadly blast.

About 400 heavily armed police late on Thursday stormed properties across Melbourne's north and west to avert what authorities branded an immediate terror threat.

Three men aged in their 20s on Friday faced court on Commonwealth terror charges.

A fourth was charged on Friday night. Two other men and a woman were questioned and released.

The charges make it an offence to do any act in preparation or planning for a terrorist act. If found guilty they could face life in prison.

Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton says there is evidence to suggest there were plans for an "explosive act", which had the power to injure or kill a "substantial" number of people.

"Certainly these are self-radicalised, we believe, but inspired by IS and IS propaganda," he said.

Police have been put on high alert for reprisal attacks but stressed Victorians should go about their business.

Security will be ramped up at major events including tonight's Carols by Candlelight and the Boxing Day Test.

The Herald Sun has been told the accused plotters discussed martyrdom, suggesting they may have been willing to die in the foiled attack.
Authorities are pursuing a suicide bombing as a line of inquiry.

A video branding Christmas a "riotous occasion" for Christians to get drunk and party was among material posted on social media accounts of one of the arrested.

It brands Santa Claus an "evil demon of the north".

Police revealed the accused had come to their attention some time ago but the terror threat accelerated in the past fortnight. They will allege the group intended to conduct a "multi-mode" attack and were so intent on causing havoc they had already conducted a reconnaissance mission in the Flinders St station precinct.

A fourth man, a 22-year-old was last night remanded in custody to reappear in court today.
Zak Dabboussi, 21, of Gladstone Park, who was arrested, was released from custody last night.

Four of those arrested were Australian-born with a Lebanese background and another was an Egyptian-born Australian citizen. Mr Chaarani's sister answered the door at the family's Fawkner home to protest her brother's innocence. "I'm not surprised, they are targeting all Muslims," she said.

Six men and one woman, aged between 20 and 26 were arrested. Two men and the woman were later released without charge.
"We believe that there was an intention to conduct what we call a multi-mode attack, possibly on Christmas Day," Police said.
One investigator described the suspects as "unsophisticated but potentially extremely dangerous".
Police believed the attack "would involve an explosive event, the use of explosives, and we gathered evidence to support that".
"There has also been evidence that we will lead around the possibility of an intention to use other weapons. That could include knives and or a firearm."

Extract: A woman sustained a "significant injury" after being struck in the face and another victim had a pistol held to his head during a home invasion over which seven men have been charged, a court has heard.

The seven accused fronted Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday over the violent home invasion south of Brisbane on Thursday night in which six people were allegedly threatened and four were hospitalised.

Of the seven men, only Luke Rickard-Worth, 21, applied for bail which was denied by acting Magistrate Maryanne May.

Rickard-Worth, Iosefa Ausage, 19, Mona Mona, 20, Timothy Mullen, 22, Samuel Sillence, 22, Abbas Toufaili, 23, and Joe Tumaialu, 20, will spend Christmas and New Year in jail.

They are facing numerous charges including armed robbery, entering a dwelling with intent and wounding, and will have their case return to court on February 6.

Three men of Middle Eastern appearance attacked and brutally assaulted a 36 year old Australian man outside a black comedy venue in Melbourne.

Two of the men have since been charged while police are hunting the third. Police have as usual refused to give a description of the wanted assailant in order to promote racial harmony, but nevertheless require public assistance in finding the third man. The arrested men justified their brutal attack to police by claiming that the Australian man was a RAYSIST. The Australian man denies the accusation, and appears to remain blissfully unaware that where people of colour have pre-eminence, White Men are supposed to make themselves scarce or suffer the consequences.

The moral of the story is that White people, for their own safety, need to boycott all performances by non-Whites. The reason being - in case you have your head up your arse - there is complete racial harmony amongst all races across the world ... but only when there is a White Man that can be singled out and bashed and stomped on, and blamed for all the woes and tribulations of blacks, Asians, Muslims, Jews at al ad nauseam.

Revoke Eric Andre's visa now and deport him back to Africa along with his ((( multicultural ))) thugs.

Extract: A POLITICIAN'S car has been broken into during a crime spree in the state's (Victoria's) east.

The news comes as police investigate how dozens of cars were damaged in Balwyn early Boxing Day morning, where vandals left a trail of destruction.

Shadow Treasurer Michael O'Brien was woken about 1.30am to learn thieves had smashed their way into his car with baseball bats in the Malvern area.

"Our neighbours had been hit and we'd been hit and we understand that dozens of cars had been hit in the area as well. Partly it's vandalism, partly it's theft."

"When you're talking about 20 or 30 cars getting hit in the same suburb in one night this is really becoming a crime wave."

His eagle-eyed neighbour, who startled the crooks when he turned his bedroom light on, said they appeared to be "very set, large fellows" with possibly "dark skin and Pacific Islander in appearance."
