A White mother has come under fire after painting her son's face black

Extract: West Coast Eagles player Nic Naitanui has called for better education after a Perth mother was slammed for painting her son in blackface for a school assembly.

"It's a shame racism coexists in an environment where our children should be nurtured, not tortured because they are unaware of the painful historical significance 'blackface' has had previously on the oppressed," he wrote.

The mother originally wrote on Facebook her son wanted to dress as idol Naitanui .

She said that despite being "a little worried" when deciding to paint his face, she "grew a set of balls and painted my boy brown".

"So many politically correct extremists these days," the unidentified woman wrote.

"He is pastey (sic) White and if I just sent him in a wig and footy gear, no one would tell who he was."

Indigenous rapper Briggs said it was blatantly racist and the mother's "ignorance is not an alibi".

"This was such an obviously reckless, racist thing to do — I thought it was a set up," he said, adding that the mother "should've stopped at the jumper and wig".

"The mother identified she knew this would be an issue and decided to paint her son anyway, genius."

AN ABORIGINAL WOMAN has been reported over the alleged racist abuse of Crows star Eddie Betts on Facebook.

Police from the Serious Crime Task Force have reported the 31-year-old western-suburbs woman for using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

The investigation followed an incident where the woman, Port supporter Maxine Spratt, allegedly posted racist comments on Facebook, calling Betts an "ape".

She will be summonsed to appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

The post went viral, leading to the AFL's indigenous community rallying behind Betts.

As Port Adelaide says it's sickened by racism cases, league hierarchy are pledging to find ways to better educate fans.

Just eight months after a Port fan threw a banana at him during a game in a racist act, Betts was again been targeted by vile racial abuse during and after Showdown 42.

Port suspended the membership of another one of its fans who was evicted from Adelaide Oval on Saturday night for racially abusing Betts during the game between the South Australian clubs.

Port is also investigating claims their indigenous ruckman Paddy Ryder was racially abused by a Crows supporter during the match.

Ms Spratt says she's received death threats after labelling Betts an ape on a social media post and writing he "should go back to the zoo where him and his family belong".

She made the comments on Facebook after Saturday's night match.

Port is unlikely to be able to take any action against Spratt as she's not a member of the club, though Facebook has deactivated her account.

Spratt says she didn't believe calling someone an ape was racist "because I'm part Aboriginal myself", adding she was now fearing for her safety.

"There's been a few people that want to smash my face in and beat me and my partner up," she told the Seven Network.

Port said it was aware of the latest racism controversy involving the club — it banned a female member last year for throwing a banana at Betts during a game against the Crows.

A SHOCKING racist attack in which vandals carved swastikas, destroyed artwork and defaced an Aboriginal memorial created by members of the Stolen Generation has left its creators distraught and "physically sick".

Christine Doolan, one of the women behind the Stolen Generation Memorial and Healing Garden in Stebonheath Park at Andrews Farm, told The Advertiser she was still in shock after noticing the trail of destruction this week.
"They have smashed and pulled some of the tiles out, but have also scratched a big swastika into a plague," Ms Doolan said.

"It physically makes you feel sick that someone could do this. It is really upsetting for everyone in the community to see this, not just for Aboriginal people."
Ms Doolan, of Davoren Park, said she was struggling to comprehend why anyone would vandalise the memorial, designed to promote harmony and understanding.
"These people are so hateful that they don't understand what it (the memorial) means."
The disgraceful attack has prompted Aboriginal Affairs Minister Kyam Maher to urge anyone with information about the attack to contact police.
Mr Maher said it would be "extremely disappointing if someone had interfered with the memorial".

"I would encourage anyone who has information about this to contact the police," he said.

"The Stolen Generation Memorial and Healing Garden is an important place for all people to reflect on our past.

The memorial is visited weekly by school, community and arts groups.
Ms Doolan said she was working with Playford Council to repair the plague and tiles.

Until this morning, I had a voucher on my phone for $110 to be spent at the Port Adelaide Football Club's shop. I had considered getting a jacket and putting a patch of my own over their club logo, but the club colour scheme cannot be hidden - I'm not a fan of any football club and don't even follow the sport. So I've kept the voucher code on my phone for over a year thinking that perhaps I'll give it away ... until this morning, when I deleted it.

Imagine if Port Adelaide FC was handed a photo of me wearing their jacket with a Creator Emblem stitched on? Screw them!

Extract: THE AFL has spoken with Port Adelaide Football Club after photos were posted to social media showing a man wearing a Nazi swastika with his Power guernseys.

Two different pictures show the man displaying the Nazi symbol on his left shoulder while wearing two different Power jumpers. The pictures were taken in Melbourne over the Easter weekend, according to one social media user.

Matthew Richardson, Port Adelaide's general manager of member services, appealed to anyone who might know the man to contact the club.

"Port Adelaide is disturbed by the image and does not condone the action of the individual. It is strictly against our supporter code of conduct," he said. "If anyone can identify the person please advise the club."
