TERRIFYING eyewitness accounts of a wild brawl onboard a Jetstar flight from Sydney to Phuket have emerged as authorities continue to investigate.

Jetstar said flight JQ27 was diverted to Denpasar after a group of five passengers, travelling together, were being "extremely disruptive" amongst themselves.

The pilot decided to divert the plane after the group refused to calm down and were handed over to Indonesian police.

After a two-hour delay the flight continued without incident to Phuket.

One of the alleged passengers posted an image on Facebook that appeared to show him and one of his travelling companions sitting on the plane before take-off from Sydney.
In response to comments on his Facebook page, the alleged passenger posted: "One of our group had an altercation so they took all six off the flight".

"We are being taken back to Australia on the news they said a brawl ect (sic) passengers were scared no such thing," the man posted on Facebook.

Passengers on the flight described a very different scene, taking to Facebook to tell of their terror.

The General Manager at Bali's Gusti Ngurah Rai airport, Trikora Harjo, said the airport had received a report from Jetstar that there were "unruly passengers fighting in the cabin" and the pilot had decided to divert the plane to Bali.

Mr Harjo said the men, who were being questioned by airport authorities, were found to be drunk and that three of the five involved in the melee had smelled of alcohol.

It is understood that the brawl involved five men – four against one.

Mr Harjo said the men would not be charged with any offence but would be sent home to Australia on a Jetstar flight on Friday.

"The other customers onboard supported the decision to offload the group in Bali and thanked the crew."

A social media user posted on the Sunrise Facebook page saying that three of her friends were on the flight.

"I've been talking to one of them this morning. She said it was really scary. She was in tears and kids etc were screaming," she wrote.

"Blood was everywhere. It was a massive punch-up."

SECRET police crime maps reveal Melbourne neighbourhoods near rail corridors and major roads are being terrorised with home invasions and car thefts committed by youth gangs, including Apex.

The explosive documents released under Freedom of Information come as Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton urges Victorians against forming neighbourhood vigilante groups to combat rising crime.

The operational police maps show parts of Melbourne's southeast were repeatedly hit last year, in­cluding parts of Murrum­beena, Carnegie, Mordialloc, Men­tone and Sandringham. Elsternwick, Chelsea, Highett and Clarinda were also hit hard.

Police told the Herald Sun the crimes recorded on the confidential maps were aggravated burglary, car theft and stealing from cars, offences commonly committed by "young, networked offenders".

Southern Metropolitan Region Inspector Bernie Edwards said the documents were used to deploy officers to emerging hot spots on 24-hour patrols.

However, Insp Edwards warned that criminals moved fast.

"Once we follow our intelligence and evidence to target particular areas, you can find that offences begin to occur in alternative areas," he said.

"That's where we have to keep up with crime trends to best use our resources.

"Our division, like the rest of the state, has experienced a number of burglaries where car keys and luxury vehicles have been stolen. These crimes have often been committed by young, networked offenders."


The crime hot spots appear to follow the Frankston, Sandringham and Cranbourne/Paken­ham rail lines and some areas were targeted repeatedly last year, prompting day and night police patrols.

Sources told the Herald Sun Apex members and young criminals claiming to be affiliated with the notorious gang were operating in the region. They are becoming more brazen and strike near main roads, which allow a quick getaway.

South Eastern upper house member David Davis accused the government of failing to keep up with the skyrocketing crime rate, warning that stations were closing their doors to the public in Melbourne.

"Nothing replaces the presence of local police who know their local community, work in the local community and are trusted by the local community," he said.

Premier Daniel Andrews called on fearful Victorians to not take matters into their own hands after residents in Caroline Springs began patrolling their neighbourhood at night — which is also being hit by a wave of youth crime.

"People need to be very careful that they are obeying the laws themselves," he told 3AW. "I think there definitely are many Victorians who are uneasy, fearful and challenged that we have seen certain types of crimes rise. We won't get across these issues unless we acknowledge it.

He said up to 100 arrests had been made since the start of Operation Cosmas in May.

Woman attacked by Indian while exercising near Adelaide Zoo

A woman has been attacked while exercising near the Adelaide Zoo just off War Memorial Drive.

The woman was indecently assaulted on Tuesday about 9:30am by a man.

SA Police said the man approached her and struck up a conversation before assaulting her.

"She immediately left and reported the incident to police," a statement said.

The man is described as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, 20 to 25 years old, about 160 centimetres tall and skinny.

He had brown, wavy, shoulder-length hair and was wearing light-coloured jeans, an orange jumper and black glasses.

Extract: A UNIVERSITY student and two constructions workers have made a citizen's arrest after a man started throwing punches at people on a busy Adelaide city street.

UniSA student Kye Grimmer, 19, told The Advertiser he was walking along North Tce with another student when a man approached them and smacked the cigarette from his friend Travis's hand.

He said the pair tried to ignore him but he started yelling at them, saying they should not walk in the direction they were heading.

"Without the swearing, he said to us, 'no, you're not going that way — go the other way'," he said. "Travis said, 'I have to go this way'."

He said a short time later, the man approached them again and started throwing punches at Travis.

"He started swinging punches at him. After about 20 seconds of trying to punch Travis, two construction workers came over.

"He hit one of the construction workers on the helmet, which wasn't smart."

The three men pinned the man to the ground and waited several minutes for police to arrive.

Police arrested a 30-year-old man, from Walkley Heights, and charged him with disorderly behaviour. He was later released with a police caution, which means [the charges were dropped due to multicultural feel good B.S. and] he will not face court over the incident.
