Dutch Police Warn Citizens of 'Too Much' Tweeting About Migrants

Dutch police have been visiting the homes of people critical of asylum centres on Twitter, urging them to delete posts ... In recent months, police have visited the homes of many more people that criticised the plans for asylum centres. In October 2015, in Leeuwarden about twenty opponents of the programs received police visits at home. It happened in Enschede, and in some places in the Brabant, where, according to the Dutch media, people who had been critical of the arrival of refugees and ran a page on social media on the topic were told to stop. A spokesman for the national police acknowledged to Handelsblad that there are ten intelligence units of "digital detectives" monitoring in real time Facebook pages and Twitter accounts and looking for posts that go "too far".

Violent scenes have broken out in Dover between far-right protesters and anti-fascists from across the country, after the groups had organised opposing demonstrations over immigration.

A rally headed by the Kent Anti-Racism Network was completed peacefully this morning. But hundreds of extra police were drafted in this afternoon as a second protest led by right-wing groups, led by the South East Alliance, the East Kent English Patriots and the North West Infidels, threatened to get out of control.

Far-right groups made a speech about "third world scum", with one speaker claiming Jeremy Corbyn "hates everything British.. and is destroying Britain", according to The Mirror.

Diane Abbott, Labour MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, is among those who have travelled to Dover to join the anti-fascist protest.

The city has been the scene of an ongoing standoff between anti-fascists and right-wing groups led by a resurgent National Front. A similar "anti-immigration" protest in September 2015 headed by the National Front saw skirmishes between groups resulting in a few injuries to both members of the public and police officers.

FACEBOOK'S Sheryl Sandberg has had enough. Now she and others are joining forces to combat extremist content being posted to spread hate online.

The company launched the "Initiative for Civil Courage Online" in Berlin, pledging over A$1.45 million in marketing funding to put a stop to extremism on the platform.

"Hate speech has no place in our society — not even on the internet," said the company's Chief Operating Officer Ms Sheryl Sandberg said in a statement.

A statement in Facebook's Newsroom online said the initiative for Civil Courage Online will support European NGOs involved in the fight against online extremism in Europe.

The initiative will also bring together experts from the field of fighting violent extremism, to jointly to develop Best Practice examples, which are then provided to NGOs, governments and other online services available

Every time you hear the media follow up the report of a Muslim terror attack with worries about a "backlash", this mindset goes up to the highest levels. The authorities are determined to cover up Muslim violence. They do this through the usual "nothing to do with Islam" and "nothing to do with the refugee crisis" lies. But they also have more sophisticated bureaucratic methods for doing this.

One of those has been exposed in Sweden.

Recently The Point discussed the murder of Alexandra Mezher, who was stabbed to death working with asylum seekers at a shelter.

A young asylum seeker on Monday allegedly stabbed and killed a female employee of the refugee centre for unaccompanied minors where he was staying in western Sweden, police said.

The 22-year-old victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but died of her wounds, police said.

"These kinds of calls are becoming more and more common. We're dealing with more incidents like these since the arrival of so many more refugees from abroad," police spokesman Thomas Fuxborg said.

That murder, like many other crimes, was marked Code 291.

Police have collected thousands of cases under the secret code 291 since October 2015. The code collects cases in which the victim, the suspect are migrants. Several highly publicized cases are collected under Code 291. One of them is the murder of Alexandra Mezher.

Code 291 was meant to be secret.

The National Operational Department, NOA, the police previously assessed that all information related to the flow of refugees had to be secret.

"Regarding an Asset 291 that has become known to the media. The code is used as working for the daily situation report. The daily situation report is classified why it says there shall not be disclosed."

SvD can now reveal that under code 291 conceals over 5,000 reported incidents.

The people at the top wanted an overview of the crisis, but they did not want the public to know what was going on. That was what Code 291 was for.

Police would not disclose details of the resources spent on work with refugees and migrants. This despite the fact that the agency kept separate statistics on this using the secret code "291" .

GERMAN Chancellor Angela Merkel has tried to placate the increasingly vocal critics of her open-door policy for refugees, insisting that asylum seekers from Syria and Iraq will go home once the conflicts there end.

Merkel, despite appearing increasingly isolated over her policy, has resisted pressure from some conservatives to cap the influx of refugees, or to close Germany's borders. A record 1.1 million migrants arrived in Germany last year.

But growing concern about the country's ability to cope and worries about crime and security after assaults on women are weighing on support for Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party and its Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU).

Merkel said that despite efforts to integrate refugees and help them, it was important to stress that they had only been given permission to stay for a limited period of time

"We need ... to say to people that this is a temporary residential status and we expect that once there is peace in Syria again, once IS has been defeated in Iraq, that you go back to your home country with the knowledge that you have gained," she said on Saturday at a meeting of CDU members in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

She said 70 per cent of refugees that fled to Germany from the war in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s had returned to their home countries.

Her remarks come after Horst Seehofer, leader of the CSU, threatened to take her government to court if his demand to stem the flow of asylum seekers was not met.

Support for the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) has edged up into double digits. Its leader said in an interview published on Saturday that border guards should shoot at refugees to prevent them from illegally entering the country if need be. Merkel has tried to convince other European countries to take in quotas of refugees, pushed for reception centres to be built on Europe's external borders, and led an EU campaign to try to convince Turkey to keep refugees from entering the bloc.

Germany wants to limit migration from North Africa by declaring Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia "safe countries", which would end their citizens' chance of being granted asylum.
