A 24-YEAR-OLD woman has been charged with manslaughter after the death of a woman at a remote West Australian indigenous community. 
 
POLICE allege she was involved in an altercation with the 38-year-old victim at Kalumburu on Sunday.

She appeared in Kununurra Magistrates Court on Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court in Perth on April 29.

Police say their inquiries are continuing into the death of a 48-year-old man at the same community on the same day, and could not confirm if the cases were linked.

A MAN COON got so drunk at a family gathering he ate a glass beer bottle, NT police say. 
 
Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said police and St John paramedics were called to a Wagaman home just after 9pm on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old man had chewed and swallowed a lot of glass, "and then went for a lie down".

"His family then called police and St John, and he was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital," she said.

This was one of more than 500 calls made to police between 3pm-11pm on Wednesday.

Supt Jorgensen said responding to reports of stupidity frustrates police and stretches an already stretched general duties division.

"People are dismayed when we can't respond to their jobs immediately, but this is why — because of all these other jobs that are coming in.

"General duties police are run off their feet by anti-social behaviour and Alice Springs is in a similar position."

She said the evening shift from the afternoon until about midnight is usually the busiest of the day, with police fielding about 350 calls. But she described this week as "out of control".

"We got 500 calls (Wednesday) evening, and about 450 on Tuesday.
"Most of them are domestics, or anti-social and drunk behaviour."

A 20-YEAR-old will face court on Monday charged with the alleged armed robbery of a Darwin IGA store. 
 
Smith St staff member Tammi McFarlane said her two colleagues were at work on Saturday when a 20-year-old man brandishing a knife entered the store and demanded cash about 10.30am.

"He wanted all the cash,'' she said.

"The person that was working threw the register at him.

"He got out with a few hundred dollars."

It was then members of the community stepped in.

Ms McFarlane said their ice delivery man and a customer out the front of the store ran the man down.

He was arrested by police and charged last night.

The young manNigger was remanded in custody.

Two ambulances transporting patients to hospital had their windows smashed by rock throwers in separate "frightening" incidents in Alice Springs last night, St John Ambulance says.

The incidents follow a spike in vandalism, assaults and break-ins in Alice Springs over the Easter break, including cases of taxis being pelted with rocks.

"[The patients] were sitting on the stretcher right next to windows being smashed," St John NT operations manager Craig Garraway told 783 ABC Alice Springs.

"It's gone off like a bit of a bomb I suppose."

No-one was injured and the vehicles were removed from service for repair.

"It does reduce our ability to be able to service the community when we've got to get these vehicles repaired," he said.

"It's a dangerous act and obviously it makes the job of the paramedics that much more difficult than it already is."

He said this was not the first time rock throwers had targeted ambulances.

"What makes it even worse is they're trying to protect people and people are damaging their cars and threatening them," he said.

"It takes a fair bit of force [to smash a window]. It's quite frightening.

"They are vulnerable people anyway - a lot of people in the back of an ambulance are injured or sick."

Asked about the latest incident, Chief Minister Adam Giles said police were doing everything they could to stop the current crime spree in Alice Springs.

"I think any crime is one crime too many," he said.

"Anyone who is a victim of crime has had a gut-full.

"We all know that no-one wants to see a house broken into or graffiti put on a wall or a rock thrown at them.

"Nobody wants that and that's why police work so hard and diligently to make sure that they stamp out crime as much as they can."

Well if you are dead serious about solving the problem, sterilise the boongs please!

A tourist was bashed with a rock, windows smashed and homes and businesses were sprayed with graffiti on a night Alice Springs police say was quieter than expected.

Taxi companies withdrew several taxis from service due to rock-throwing over the long weekend.

But police said the spike in vandalism, break-ins and assaults was not a crime spree.

"Not from our point of view," Superintendent Travis Wurst told the ABC.

"There were some unlawful entries, five reported. But they were not linked. They occurred all over Alice Springs, some were businesses and some were residential properties.

"It's a fair stretch to say that's a crime spree."

But Chief Minister Adam Giles said the level of crime was not acceptable.

"Obviously we had a terrible piece of crime on the weekend," he said, referring to the bashed tourist.

"But it doesn't matter if it's a local resident, a visiting person from central Australia or a tourist, we don't condone or support any crime, we want to stamp it all out.

"There is crime in our society, we always have to try to get in front of the ledger.

Mr Giles recently claimed the Government had reduced crime in the outback town, which has a reputation for alcohol-related violence.

Police said "compared to the number of people in Alice Springs" the town was relatively quiet over the Easter long weekend.

There were at least 30 incidents of graffiti at about five locations on Monday night, police said.

The holidays saw thousands of visitors flocking to the outback town for a national mountain bike race, the AFL's central Australia Easter footy carnival, the speedway and a heavy metal concert.

"The crowd was very well behaved," Superintendent Wurst said.

"It was a fantastic weekend.

"We had a lot of people in Alice Springs. We saw that late last weekend there were huge numbers around town camps.

"We didn't have the high volume of calls to service we expected over the weekend.

"We found the visitors to Alice Springs behaved very well."

He said up to 30 teams from outlying communities had played at the football Lightning Carnival and 7,500 spectators passed through the gates.

The Blacken the Globe heavy metal music festival attracted more than 500 ticket holders to Alice Springs over weekend, with music fans travelling from across the country to attend.

The weekend was the first time Alice Springs had held an event for the National Cross Country Marathon Series.

Thieves also smashed windows at a tattoo shop, a motorcycle outlet and the front door of the local swimming pool, where they stole ice-creams and food.

The bashed tourist was from New South Wales and visiting town for the mountain bike race.

He refused to press charges, police said.

A TEENAGER  BOONG*has been arrested for hitting his pregnant partner at the weekend. 
 
Police said the 19-year-old allegedly assaulted his 20-year-old partner in the Alice Springs CBD.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said he was charged with aggravated assault and served a domestic violence order (DVO).

He will appear before the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on Monday.

Supt Warren said seven people were arrested during a two day domestic and family violence operation in the red centre as part of Operation Romulus.

Police targeted domestic violence offenders to "reinforce the message domestic violence will not be tolerated".

Supt Warren said the seven arrested were charged with aggravated assault, DVO and bail breaches and outstanding warrants offences.

"Police also conducted 31 DVO and Alcohol Protection Order compliance checks, served seven DVOs, issued two summons notices and took four people into protective custody," he said.

"Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to violence of any kind. Safety is everyone's right and we will hold offenders to account for their actions."

A WOMAN holding her four-month-old baby has been hit in the head with a rock by her partner's jilted ex. 
 
Superintendent Brendan Muldoon said the woman broke into the home, in Driver, about 7.30pm on Sunday.

He said she assaulted a female occupant — who was holding her four-month-old baby in her arms — with a rock.

The woman and her partner fought back, holding the woman in the home until police arrived.

Supt Muldoon said serious crime detectives had taken over and were investigating.

He said the woman would likely be charged on Monday.

Again.. "Rock or bust is the national anthem" for the coons!

A TEENAGE boy was held by a passenger inside a car and dragged along the road before being run over in a vicious robbery - all for his iPhone. 
 
Serious Crime Squad Detectives are investigating the incident, which occurred on Easter Monday on Jabiru St, Wulagi about 3pm.

Detective Senior Constable Toby Wilson said the 16-year-old was held by the passenger inside the car and dragged along the road as the driver sped off.

"The driver then ran over the victim's legs before continuing on to Lee Point Rd," he said.

The boy was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

So what white person would be so desperate for a second hand I-phone? Then run them over?
