When Oregon was granted statehood in 1859, it was the only state in the Union admitted with a constitution that forbade black people from living, working, or owning property there. It was illegal for black people even to move to the state until 1926. Oregon's founding is part of the forgotten history of racism in the American west ... The constitution was put to a popular vote in the state in 1857 and included two referendums that were to be voted on independently. The first was whether they should reject slavery. Roughly 75 percent of voters opted to reject the adoption of slavery. The second measure was whether or not to exclude black people from the state. About 89 percent of voters cast their vote in favor of excluding black and mixed race people from the state.

Greetings, P.M. It's been a while since I've posted, but I've been popping on when I can to keep up with things. Since I was in Portland a week ago, I thought I'd drop a comment.


I couldn't agree more with your assessment of this continuing idea for a Northwest - or anywhere else in the country - White dominion. Portland (and Seattle) have been infected with hippie-type ideology for a long time. Some parts of Portland reminded me of the Bohemian, ramshackle, trendy parts of the "rising" Detroit. Lots of confused and denatured Aryans participating in a feel good movement, often at the same time benefiting, consciously, a non-White race. As usual, we have met the enemy and he is us. Hell, you might have a better shot buying up Detroit and moving in White families and businesses than attempting a takeover of the Northwest or other out of the way territory, as seen by the attempts of Craig Cobb in North Dakota.


I suggest we do what President Roosevelt (Teddy, not FDR) advised: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." It doesn't cost anything to risk everything when it really matters...

If people really want to move to be near another brother or sister, then do so because they are moving to a better area with the intention of improving their life. Otherwise, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are" works perfectly for me. After all, it's not as if we don't have the transport available to us to travel when needed.
