Immigration rises hugely in UK

Net migration to the UK rose to 260,000 in the year to June - an increase of 78,000 on the previous year.

The figure is calculated by taking away the number of people leaving the country from the number coming in.

Prime Minister David Cameron has said he hoped to get net migration below 100,000 before the election in 2015.

But according to the data, 583,000 people immigrated to the UK in the last year - an increase of 45,000 from the EU and 30,000 from outside.

Net migration is now 16,000 higher than it was when the coalition government was formed in 2010.

Labour leader Ed Miliband has accused the prime minister of "spectacularly" breaking the "promise he made to the British people".

Well.. what do you expect? They joined the EU and that is just an immigration free for all !

The UK is the most sickeningly politically correct place on earth next to Holland and Canada! Is there anything that isn't tolerated there anymore?

"Baa baa rainbow sheep". Just given their nation away to Islam, poofters and everybody from every place else!

Even other allied EU states like Finland make a system internally of only giving their own children the jobs no matter what so the others bugger off even if they are work legal and have become literate in Finnish!

Mate! I got pulled of a boat at Dover after being in France for 1 week wanting to re-enter on a tourist visa after my work permit expired.. I had to fight tooth and nail to get back in AS A COMMONWEALTH SUBJECT! Our soldiers have died bloody deaths for British pursuits and they treat me like that ! Then they have the hide to let people from Austria and Germany in there no questions asked?

The political parties over here have been talking about cutting back immigration for years! But neither have actually made any progress! UKIP (UK independance party) have claimed if they are voted for they will abandon the EU and due to this they have won several regional votes and are steadily on the increase! They allow them to use pathetic excuses to avoid deportation, unfortunately I couldn't find the link however I remember reading my local paper and seeing one even avoided deportation because "he had a dog"

As for you having to fight to gain entry into the UK is outrageous! Australia even flys the Union Jack in its flag and to me that should allow you the right to walk on british soil just the same as I can!

The think-tank British Future has recently published the report How to talk about immigration based on research conducted by ICM, Ipsos MORI and YouGov. The report purports to provide a blueprint for both the pros and antis in the immigration debate to manage the subject most effectively in public discussion.

This is not something which they achieve because they have bought into the internationalist agenda, viz: "Some three or four generations on from Windrush, it is now a settled and irreversible fact that we are a multi-ethnic society. Managing immigration effectively and fairly in the public interest should and does matter to Britons from different ethnic backgrounds. We should be suspicious of approaches that sharply polarise British citizens along racial lines, in whatever direction".

Nonetheless the research does have much of interest. One finding is truly startling. Faced with the question "The government should insist that all immigrants should return to the countries they came from, whether they're here legally or illegally" the result was agree 25%, disagree 52% and neither 23% (p.17 of the report). In addition, many of those who said no to forced repatriation were also firm supporters of strong border controls and restrictive immigration policies.
