It is indeed! That's one power Westminster allowed the Scottish government to dictate, however it's not me that's required to squat! My relative is still held up in a B&B for the time being! And I don't think he's in the situation where he and his partner would be required to squat!

So, what is the job situation like in Scotland? I realise there is more work in places like Edinburgh than say Glen Coe .. but as a whole is it hard to get some kind of job?
Something to get by on until something better is found? Or do you need a lot of skills?

Is it possible for these people you know to get a secondhand bike and use that for transport at this temporary place if they are hard up for transport for work.. or to access shops? Got a charity shop around? Online second hand classifieds?

I know Ireland is up the $hit right now as there are so many Irish getting sponsored to live in Australia to work. This one woman told me their economy is still poor and no intention of returning. No bother.. I like looking at these cute Irish girls over here.

For the younger generations jobs are hard to come by! I use to stay in aberdeen! Plenty jobs in the oil and gas sectors but many employers even retail jobs require experience so a lot of young people are finding it hard to obtain a job! I work in the leisure industry and when we had a vacacy for a part time leisure assistant (20 hours a week) we had a surreal amount of applicants! I believe it was nearly 200. I've recently moved out to the suburbs and I know even here job opportunities are as rare as a blue moon. So I reckon scotland is well on the path to reaching the stage Ireland is at if its not already at it.

No they are further out in the suburbs than I am and the location the local council has placed them doesn't even have a shop! All it accommodates is a pub. There's about 2 public busses a day passing through the town.

Yes scottish newspapers always contain advertisements regarding tradesmen being given the opportunity to immigrate to Australia

That wouldn't buy you a brass razoo! Does the state supplement your wages if you do opt for the part time job?

Having 2 x public busses a day in the place  is a damn farce!
Shouldn't there be one every hour? That means if you havn't a vehicle you rely on buying a market cart and wheeling the groceries onto the bus to get home. Heaven help you if you miss the bus.

Personally If I faced the fate your friends do. I'd move to a place where they'd give me better housing more accessible to work and shops. So you say Aberdeen has job vacancies?

Well yeah even in 2010 there was a bunch of British plumbers where I worked.. more than Aussies infact. The thing is their trade isn't recognised 100%, they have to go to night school to get extra papers. Their wives hate it and they are drained from working all day to do that.

As far as Australian's Northern Territory goes. It is a boom place lots of things going on and there are jobs.. but the sweaty , hot and humidt conditions knock Europeans around, and it is very costly to reside in. The ones with indoor jobs are the ones that last beacuse they work in airconditioning.

So seems SADLY that the Government here is more interested in getting Phillipinos as they know English and can take the environment better and work for less money and they don't fight back if you want to push them around. The amount of white guys with "dial a brides" from The Phillipines here is sickeningly rife!

I'm not entirely sure as I've been in full time employment since the day I left school! I believe they may offer benefits like help with rent etc if you earn a certain amount but don't hold my word to that!

Yes there are plenty of vacancies here in aberdeen but unless you happen to know someone who can hook you up or you have previous experience they won't even look at your CV! So throughout the next coming years I fear the next generation of whites are going to be in a difficult position to find a job, therefore increasing the amount of people claiming job seekers allowance and increasing the taxes and maybe even the crime rate.

Yes I'm a painter and decorator by trade and even considered immigration as I have family in Australia but I doubt I could handle the heat! I haven't left scotland much throughout my life so I haven't got much experience with it.

I can imagine it's painful to see, there are a few here but you can spot them from a mile off, following the stereotypical elderly rich white male and his younger teen dial a bride

Well .. you know Australia is a vast continent. The top half that's tropical. Always hot. Has just wet season and dry season. You live in an elevated home like this.




The middle, well that is barely habitable!Some people live under the ground in starwars style dug outs.



So this means if you are in the construction industry the wet season makes everything slow as it isn't suitable for building in. Very humidt and uncomfortable to work outdoors in.. but the North is taking off as a lot of Gooks find it close to home and are doing business and trade with the mining and gas resources . The heat and expense drives people away from the north.

So the Flips come and work and they can handle the humidity better and don't grizzle to the employer.

Now the Southern capitals are a lot cooler and have better climates, that doesn't man to say a heat wave doesn't come and zap you with a 40 degree week in summer some times.. but it is generally a dry heat not a wet heat.

If you like the cold then either Melbourne, Tasmania or Canberra are the best places to live. Still... you won't see snow unless you go to a mountainous region.. and some season the snow isn't in an abundance.
