FORMER bikie boss Sam Ibrahim and drummer for rock band Rose Tattoo, Paul De Marco, have been charged after being arrested as part of investigations into an alleged gun running syndicate. 
 
The pair were swept up in a series of early morning raids today along with Sam's sister Maha Sayour. Police also seized 13 weapons resulting from the six-month undercover operation in western Sydney.

De Marco, 55, has been charged with 27 counts including supplying a pistol to an unauthorised person, supplying ammunition, supplying a prohibited firearm and supplying a prohibited weapon.

Ibrahim, 45, was charged with four counts related to the supply of a pistol to an unauthorised person, conspiracy to commit an offence – supplying a firearm to an unauthorised person and supplying a prohibited firearm which is subject to a prohibition order.
They have been refused bail and are due to appear at Blacktown Local Court via audio visual link today.

Sayour, 43, was charged with conspiracy to commit offence – supply firearm to person unauthorised to possess.

She has been refused bail and is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.

Investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.

Ibrahim's solicitor, Brett Galloway, said his client was unlikely to make a bail application.

"I've not yet seen the facts ... these are serious charges and these things need to be given great consideration,'' Mr Galloway told Fairfax.

Following extensive inquiries, police from North West Metropolitan Region, assisted by specialist units, executed six simultaneous search warrants at Windsor, Greystanes, Londonderry, Castlereagh, St Marys and Warilla, about 6.15am today.

A MAN believed to be the father of two young girls who were killed at a property in northeast Melbourne yesterday has been charged with murder, as relatives return to the scene. 
 
The Herald Sun understands police will allege the girls, who neighbours said were as young as three and four, were stabbed by Charles Mihayo inside a granny flat in the backyard of their grandmother's house on Longmuir Rd, Watsonia, during a family Easter gathering.

Mr Mihayo, 35, of Watsonia was arrested at the scene, and charged with two counts of murder during an out-of-court sessions hearing just before 1am.

It remains unclear whether police have found the weapon allegedly used but forensic investigators have not been on scene since 3am, and the clean-up is due to begin.

Two female deceased-estate cleaners, wearing white coveralls, entered the back unit of the property this morning.

A DRUNK man held a gun "gangster-style" over a high-rise Gold Coast balcony and shot a bystander while aiming for a strip club he used to work at, a court has heard. 
 
Rick El Masri, 37, is on trial for allegedly shooting father-of-three Hylton Miller on December 4, 2010.

Mr Miller was walking hand-in-hand with his wife along Surfers Paradise Esplanade when he was allegedly shot in a sniper-style attack from a nearby high-rise unit block.

El Masri's friend Hakan "Harry" Altinoglu told Southport District Court on Tuesday the defendant was drunk at a dinner party at his home on the night of the shooting.

When Mr Altinoglu pointed out strip club Hollywood Showgirls, where El Masri was sacked as a bouncer, his guest patted his hip and asked: "Should I shoot?"

He said he replied to El Masri, who is of Lebanese descent: "Don't be silly, don't be stupid.

"Basically it's haram. In their language (Arabic) haram means it's against God's will."

Mr Altinoglu said El Masri held a gun sideways over the balcony "like in a gangster-style".

He said he then turned to get a drink, heard two loud bangs and turned back around to see two bullet cases on the balcony floor.

Mr Altinoglu said El Masri, who didn't seem distressed, left about 15 minutes later.

After security arrived to investigate, Mr Altinoglu and his girlfriend went for a walk to the beach.

However, police had blocked off the street and told him there was a shooting, he said.

"I panicked," Mr Altinoglu told the court.

"That's when I realised ... I believe yes, he did it."

Mr Altinoglu said he went to El Masri's house the next morning, woke him up and told him to check news reports of the shooting.

He said El Masri appeared shocked and put his head in his hands before saying: "Keep quiet, shut up, don't say anything."

The court earlier heard Mr Altinoglu denied knowing anything about the shooting when police phoned him.

But having thought he'd ended the phone call, detectives recorded him talking with his cousin saying he was concerned about the police attention and didn't trust El Masri.

Mr Altinoglu later named El Masri after neighbours pinpointed his unit as where they heard the gunshots coming from.

El Masri faces charges of grievous bodily harm, illegal possession of a weapon and two counts of dangerous conduct with a weapon.

A MUSLIM man who threatened to "slit the throat" of an intelligence officer has refused to stand for a judge in court. 
 
Milad Bin Ahmad-Shah al-Ahmadzai, 24, yesterday declined to stand as he pleaded guilty to threatening serious harm to a Commonwealth official and using a carriage service to harass and menace.

His lawyer Nick Hanna yesterday told the District Court his client's refusal to stand was due to his religion.

Judge Ian McClintock queried what religious view prevented al-Ahmadzai from standing, which Mr Hanna was unable to answer.

"It is a perceived view that it is not appropriate for him to stand in court. It is not advancing any discourtesy to the court," Mr Hanna said.

Commonwealth prosecutor Karen Leavy said "on the face of it it's disrespectful".

Mr McClintock did not instruct al-Ahmadzai's to stand but said he had noted it.

Al-Ahmadzai pleaded guilty in December last year to threatening the intelligence officer in a phone call in May 2013, telling him "I'm gonna crack your neck" and "come near my family again, I'm gonna slit your throat pig".

He was refused bail. His wife Fatima Elzamtar was in court yesterday with their child. Al-Ahmadzai had been under surveillance by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team since December 2009 because he was "allegedly committing terrorism-related offences".
