2024 Backyard Finished! (Well, close enough.)

What's Stella looking at? Perhaps she sees a rat on the fence?

Needs more and better plants hanging from the fences, but from that angle, the yard is finished. Fence painted, clothesline painted and awning as perfect as it can get. Painted trellis, hanging plants. Also the shed is painted to match, the gate off to the right matches the trellis and the lawn has been replaced with added stepping stones. Even the palms and banana plants over the back are better after working with the neighbours the other weekend.

Additional solar lighting all around the fence, under the awning, a flood light at the gate and on top of the awning there's a coloured light pointing at the palms, which adds to the neighbour's coloured lighting in their pool which reflects up into the palms.

* If I'd known how to do the awning, I would have done that ten years ago.
* If I'd known it was best to paint the fence ...
* If I'd known about laying grass instead of planting it ...
* If I'd been allowed to cut the fence and make a gate ...

2024 Backyard Finished!

The pergola needs done
Also the front fence
The house needs painted inside and out
Have to finish work on the car
And then I can begin on the motorcycle
All of that before I turn 60 - I have 6 years to go!

I got creative and added a back gate through to my neighbour's back yard.

This makes it easier for my neighbour and I. And it's perfect for my dog. She likes to run in the neighbour's larger back yard.

I'm building a shelf unit/cupboard/wardrobe into an alcove in my spare room. A brother is currently living in there so he needs it - especially as I refuse to allow him to buy a shabby old wardrobe to lumber me with.

I'm building it from floor to ceiling @ a height of 295cm
Width 154cm
Depth 45.4cm
That is taking into account the thickness of the Structural Ply @ 21mm

The wood is all cut and stashed out in the backyard under the pergola. I have the walnut varnish/stainer mix ready to apply. The intent is to apply the varnish/stainer out-doors. Once dry, glue and screw. Then the next week I get to work on the shelves and clothes hanging rails.

It took me six years, but it is in a spare room I almost never go into. I just kept forgetting about it. Years of having others live in it using the shelves as they were, unfinished, didn't help. ... But I am glad to be finished.

Next is to repaint the ceiling first, walls second, and finish with carpet.
