Count Dankula is a a Scots YouTuber who taught his girlfriend's pet pug to give the Hitler Salute for a joke. It was a joke - a meme. He was arrested for Causing Offence and thrown into a cell.

The charge the three are facing, first-degree aggravated harassment, makes it a crime to "harass, annoy, threaten or alarm another person" because of their "race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, religious practice, age, disability or sexual orientation." The statute specifically cites the use of a swastika or noose in such harassment.

In short, if you are White, it is a Hate Crime to annoy any Black, Jew or other protected minority. 1^st Amendment - Freedom of Speech in America? My arse! Americans are no more freer than are Australians, British or Euros.
