PHOTOGRAPHS of horrific cruelty to dogs in an NT [Aboriginal] community have been posted on a Facebook page - and then hastily taken down as authorities tried to cover up the shocking scandal.

The pictures showed two animals believed to have been attacked with machetes by boys. Another was of a dog with a broken leg with the bone exposed.

A third was of an animal with all its fur eaten away by mange.

Another dog was photographed getting around the community without the use of its back legs, which were either broken or lame.

The photographs were posted on Facebook by Kristine Love, who works for an animal welfare agency on Groote Eylandt.

And the NT News has been told that animal cruelty and neglect is rampant in some remote [Aboriginal] communities.

Many dogs are well cared for by their owners. But others are often beaten and left to find their own food.



Dirty apes! they just can't leave anything alone! have to mess with :- people, property, animals etc! I bet they don't get penalised for it.. The Govt. just pays off the elder to tell the Abbo lads hurting animals is "naughty"... then he gets his royalties and his Hilux the taxpayer paid for and gambles and pisses his money away. They have no responsibility for anything! Not animals, not even their kids!

That's why Nigger (my dog, for those that don't know), is never left at home on her own. White hating blacks - one of whom's grandfather was no doubt a "que (sic) jumping Afghan" - know where I live and have already tried to smash their way into my home - and failed. If they do manage to get in and I'm not home, Nigger will be be killed by these vermin. The contents of my home are insured and possessions are replaceable, but my friend Nigger is not. It's better for her safety - AND THE COONS'! - for Nigger to never be left alone at home.

Having worked on missions in the early years I am quite aware of the cruelty to animals and each other that they inflict.
We are dealing with stone age mentality on a  par with some rabid beast, when not sodomising each other , they are drinking metho or flogging the crap out of each other, the nigra in the bush is different from the yella fella in the city or towns, the nigra in the bush is more caveman in their thinking and prone to manipulation by the ''spirits'' a bit of flour and bacca keeps these childlike creatures happy plus a good and regular dose of the Black snake or a horses hobble chain works wonders on recalcitrant nigras.

SHOCKING claims have emerged of dogs forced to fight to the death for entertainment before being fed to crocs.
Administration worker Deb Hopkins, 52, said her staffy had been stolen from her home in the remote community of Wadeye, 400km southwest of Darwin, five weeks ago.
"I pray they do not try to use him for dog fights, as that does still go on here," she said.
Ms Hopkins said her dog had looked a bit like a pit bull, which is prized for fighting, and community members have repeatedly offered her money to buy the dog's brother.
Ms Hopkins said she had been told the winner of the fight is then either stoned to death or thrown off the barge landing for crocs to eat.
But Murrinhpatha Nimmipa Store manager Brian Ireland said organised dog fighting doesn't happen in Wadeye.
"I've never heard of organised dog fights," he said.    Ark Animal Hospital vet Stephen Cutter, who is involved with animal management in remote indigenous communities, said it sounded dubious.
"Most dogs in communities are fairly well socialised and don't get into serious fights as they roam, whereas dogs kept behind fences get in more serious ones," he said.
Mr Cutter also said it was hard to tease dogs to fight each other and that they might instead turn on the person teasing them.
He said while dogs were stolen for fights it was rarer than people think.
The Animal Welfare Branch said no one had reported any recent acts of dogfighting in Wadeye.

A MAN will be sentenced for allegedly striking a dog between the eyes with an axe as an act of "revenge" after being bitten in a remote Territory community.

Darwin Magistrates Court was told Michael Berida armed himself with a machete and an axe before entering a cage housing a large dog at Wadeye in July 2011.

He allegedly lifted the 50cm axe above his head and slammed it into the dog's head, right between the eyes, causing a deep gash up to 12cm long.

The court heard the dog yelped out in pain following the attack.

Defence lawyer James Anderson told Magistrate Elizabeth Armitage that the canine survived and had only been left with a large scar on its head.

He said there were a lot of camp dogs at remote communities such as Wadeye that were well behaved and healthy. But he added there were many that weren't adequately cared for.    "Mr Berida on this day had been bitten by the dog - it was his uncle's," he said.

He said the dog was attacked as a form of revenge.
