A federal senator is furious after a self-proclaimed neo-Nazi allegedly conned him into taking a selfie while he performed a deplorable gesture

Victorian senator Ralph Babet stood smiling and giving a thumbs-up next to Nathan Bull on Saturday, apparently oblivious to the man's partial salute below shoulder height

The 'highly active NSN (National Socialist Network) member' then posted the image to X with the caption 'Heil Ralph Babet, Heil our people'.

The United Australia Party senator, 40, has since distanced himself from the prominent neo-Nazi, claiming he had no knowledge of who Mr Bull was or was aware of the illegal gesture being made out of sight.

Senator Babet has since labelled all extremists as 'idiots'.

'They can all go get stuffed,' he told the Herald Sun.

'The far left and the far right are all a bunch of losers.

'I don't know who he is. I don't care who he is.'

'He told the Age: 'Hundreds of people per month ask for a photo with me everywhere I go.'

'Are you Ralph Babet?' 'Yes I am.' 'Can I have a photo?' 'OK, yeah sure.' That's the extent of it. 'See you later, bye.' '

Senator Babet added that Victoria Police can investigate Mr Bull's post 'if they want to'.

Victoria Police confirmed that it would review the new Mr Bull's post remained online early Monday morning.

The Nazi salute was banned across Victoria in November after a number of self-proclaimed neo-Nazi's performed the salute at rallies.

The son of a woman found dead at home along with her disabled teenage daughter has revealed his white supremacist tattoos as he faced court on Nazi graffiti charges.

Christopher Carrig, 20, appeared briefly in Burwood Local Court on six charges including allegedly spray-painting a statue with a Nazi swastika symbol.

He faced a magistrate for a few minutes in a court room where tattoos numbers '88' behind his right ear and '14' behind his left ear could be clearly seen.

The numbers '88' - representing HH as the eighth letter of the alphabet - are notorious white supremacist code for' Heil Hitler'.

The number '14' represents a 14-word supremacist slogan about white power securing the future of 'white children'.

The graffiti charges stem from an alleged incident at Macquarie University in February.

He is also accused of of stalking a man at a Woolworths in May, both of which pre-date the family tragedy which befell his mother and sister.

Jennifer Carrig, 53, and Ella, 13, were found dead in two separate bedrooms of their home on Menzies Road in Marsfield in Sydney's north-west in early July.

The reason for their deaths publicly remain a mystery with no arrests made. It is not suggested Christopher Carrig had any involvement.

However, the Menzies Road home was visited by police just eight days earlier when Counter Terrorism and Special Tactics Command officers arrived at 6am to arrest Christopher and his girlfriend Taylor Bayly, 20.

The couple were taken to separate police stations to be charged with offences relating to the spray painting of 'extreme right-wing ideology' at Macquarie University in Sydney's north.

Police allege Mr Carrig and Ms Bayly blackened their faces and then entered Macquarie Park - which has around 130 statues, inside Macquarie University - at around 12.17am on February 25.

Court documents allege they used a can of spray paint to mark objects on the campus with a swastika and with the tag of the National Socialist Network, an Australian neo-Nazi political organisation.

The couple were charged with intentionally or recklessly destroying or damaging property, blacken or disguise face with intention to commit an indictable offence, possess graffiti implement and unlawful entry on enclosed lands.

Mr Carrig was also charged with offences dating from May at a Woolworths in north-west Sydney, while police took out an Apprehended Violence Order against him on behalf of another man.

Chris Carrig was already banned from the Woolworths when he allegedly unlawfully entered the premises on the afternoon May 25, and is alleged to have stalked or intimidated the man.

On Tuesday, he appeared in court with a lawyer to have his bail conditions varied, so that he could report to police three times a week.

When approached on the street, Mr Carrig flicked his fingers dismissively and said: 'Go get a real job'.

It remains unclear how Either Jennifer Carrig or her daughter Ella died, with neither having obvious injuries. Locals believe it was a tragic was a murder-suicide.

A masked group which marched past a city refugee protest carrying a neo-Nazi flag and a banner proclaiming "Australia for the white man" broke no laws, say SA Police – but the Attorney General has condemned it as an "absolute disgrace

A city protest by refugees demanding a pathway to permanent residency was targeted on Sunday afternoon by a group of men wearing identical black clothing and holding a flag associated with Australian neo-Nazi group, the National Socialist Network.

Video of the incident obtained by InDaily shows the encounter outside the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade building on Franklin Street, where the refugee group has been protesting.

A man with a megaphone leads two lines of men – most concealing their identities with face coverings, sunglasses and hoodies and brandishing the NSN flag along with a large banner – past the refugee group and police officers.

SA Police officers were present at Sunday's incident, but took no action.

In a statement, SAPOL said it monitored protest activity in the Adelaide CBD on Sunday and "did not observe the commission of offences.

"SA Police continue to monitor individuals and groups who may seek to incite violence in the community," it said.

"SAPOL work with organisers of public activities to ensure the safety of all involved.

"Any information regarding individuals or groups who seek to incite violence within the community is treated seriously and thoroughly investigated.

The state government recently banned public displays of the Nazi salute and Nazi symbols. Under the new laws, people found publicly displaying the Nazi swastika or performing the salute could be fined up to $20,000 or sent to jail for up to a year.

Sahra Saberi, who was supporting the protestors calling for more support for refugees stuck on temporary visas, said the neo-Nazi group's presence was "quite scary".

"They were covering their entire face and body, so they were quite scary, and they came along with such a brutal message," Saberi said.

"It did cause some fear for some of the refugees.

Saberi said one was left shaking after the encounter.

"I've been in Australia for the last 12 years. I learned that I am going to respect everybody. This is the most disrespectful thing I've seen so far in the last 12 years of my life in Australia," she said.

"I don't think this is only disrespecting to the refugees; this is disrespectful to the entire country and the entire multicultural community. It's not only targeting refugees, it's targeting every individual in the community from a different background."

Attorney General Kyam Maher said "most South Australians would agree that these scenes are an absolute disgrace.

"The people hiding their identities are cowards," he said.

"Australia is an inclusive, welcoming place that embraces diversity in all its forms.

"There is no place for this kind of activity."

Maher said that under the new laws, "a symbol associated with the Nazis, or Nazi ideology, can be captured".

"We will of course consider any advice from our police and intelligence agencies and if we need to ban more symbols of hateful ideologies we won't hesitate to act."

Greens MLC Robert Simms described the footage as "disturbing".

"It's shocking to see that happening on the streets of Adelaide," he said.

"Racism should have no place in South Australia.

It seems the fake refugees had visas that expired and expected to stay and be citizens?! They want the rights and benefits Australians have when they are too lazy/dumb to build their own nations into good ones!

The audacity of their demands! They think there is enough of what Australia has to share with everybody!

What about the strain on our resources and infrastructure as well as bringing alien ideology into our peaceful community!
