Excerpt: Infighting has broken out in Labour after a leading figure in the party claimed they were 'incapable of tackling racism and Islamophobia following the far-right riots earlier this month.

Mish Rahman, a member of Labour's National Executive Committee (NEC), has accused Sir Keir Starmer and his party of showing double standards by failing to catergorise the attacks as 'terrorism.'

Speaking to The Independent, Mr Rahman claimed Labour's reluctance to label the violent attacks as acts of terrorism suggests 'it is only terrorism when only committed by a Muslim.'

The leading Labour figure has called for Sir Keir to use more compassionate language when discussing migration.

This incident is not the first time Mr Rahman has clashed with the Labour Party. During the General Election campaign he branded the party 'institutionally Islamophobic and racist'.

Mr Rahman was elected to the NEC in 2022 with the backing of the Corbynite grassroot group Momentum.

Greg Smith, a Conservative MP, told The Telegraph: "Police have to use resources to combat these protests."

When asked about the Government's response to the protests the UK has seen in recent weeks, Mr Smith added: "We have to make sure these rioters are stamped out and stamped out hard. Even if [the protest] is anti-climatic, we need as a country to be combating this behaviour as a whole."

Sheffield: A devastated owner has told how his two dogs were shot dead by police in his home after they arrived to arrest him over an unrelated allegation.

Ashley Taylor, 35, gave officers the keys to his house in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on July 30 before going to a police station following the arrest for burglary and other offences.

He put his two dogs - Staffordshire Bull Terrier Lotus and American Bulldog Prince - in the kitchen of the property.

But upon his return the next day, the distraught owner found blood, bullet holes and cartridge casings in the house, alongside just one of his dog's collars on the landing.

Pictures from the scene showing the damage suggest officers killed Lotus in the kitchen before pursuing Prince through the house and firing wildly up the staircase.

South Yorkshire Police later said the dogs had been believed to be an 'unregistered XL Bully and a pit bull type' and were 'aggressive', so they were destroyed 'humanely'.

However, Mr Taylor was left devastated by the loss of his two pets, who he said were like 'his kids'.

Ryan Smith, 43, who lives near Mr Taylor, in the Woodhouse area of Sheffield, described how dozens of officers descended on the address at around 11.30pm on July 30.

But police told him that they were unable to search the property, on Tithe Barn Lane, due to there being dogs inside.

Ryan said: 'I came out my house and there were six or seven police vehicles on the street, and they told me they needed to search the house but couldn't get in because of the dogs.

'I said I'll go in and get them. I stroke those dogs every day, I know them, they know me, they play with my kids.

'The officer said ''no no no, it's an endangerment to life''.

Shortly before 3am, Ryan saw 'officers with two big dog cages and a whole squad of armed officers in full gear' arrive on the road.

He added: 'I heard 12 shots, I think it's completely wrong. Those dogs would still be alive if they had let me go in and get them.'

Describing the scene at his property after he returned, Mr Taylor said: 'There was smashed glass in my kitchen.

'There was blood all up my stairs and bullet holes up the walls.

'It looks like they got to the bottom of the stairs and fired up it because my bathroom [at the top of the stairs] is filled with holes.

'Prince's collar was left on the stairs.

'I just don't understand why they did this. I can just picture them killing Lotus in the kitchen, and chasing Prince through the house shooting at him.'

Mr Taylor said he had recently staged a protest in Sheffield over the incident.

But so far, Lotus and Prince's bodies have not been returned to him, and Mr Taylor has not been given the keys to his property.

Irish police are investigating a potential terrorism motivation in an attack on a chaplain at an army barracks in Co Galway.

The victim, named as Fr Paul Murphy - who is aged in his 50s, was stabbed a number of times and is being treated for injuries that are serious but not life-threatening.

The army chaplain was attacked outside Renmore Barracks on Thursday at about 10.45pm and rushed to University Hospital Galway.

Fr Murphy was approached by a youth outside the barracks and attacked. The chaplain then ran through the barracks gate and was followed by the youth.

A spokesman for the Defence Forces said that live ammunition was fired by on-duty personnel as warning shots after he was attacked.

The injured priest received first aid from Defence Forces personnel on duty.

A male youth, aged in his teens, was restrained by members of the Defence Forces and arrested by gardai at the scene.

A migrant who beheaded his victim and caused his intestines to spill out while he was still alive could avoid deportation from Germany - because prosecutors think he would just come back from Somalia.

Mursal Mohamed Seid, 24, killed his 52-year-old flatmate Alex K. in a homeless shelter in the Bavarian town of Regen in July 2021.

He stabbed his victim 111 times with a knife before beheading him. Seid later told investigators that he believed his flatmate was possessed by two demons he had to kill.

The attack was so violent that the victim's intestines spilled out while he was still alive, German media reported at the time.

German immigration authorities want to deport him back to his native Somalia as soon as possible, but the prosecutors are hesitant to issue a deportation order because they think the criminal would return to Germany anyway, tabloid Bild reports.

Senior public prosecutor Oliver Baumgartner told Bild: 'The prescribed overall assessment must include, among other things, the seriousness of the crime, the dangerousness of the convicted person and the likelihood that the convicted person will return to Germany.

'In this regard, it was necessary to take into account that the convicted person would be free in his home country and that there is no guarantee that he will be treated properly. A return to Germany was considered possible.'

While the prosecutors are hesitant about signing the deportation order, Said also wrote a letter saying he refuses to be deported to Somalia in February.

A former soldier with severe PTSD described by a judge as the "least involved" person he had dealt with over the riots was jailed for 12 months.

Gary Harkness was present at a riot that broke out in Plymouth on Aug 5 as violence swept the country following the Southport stabbings in which three children were killed.

The court heard that Harkness, who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, was "steaming drunk" after downing up to 18 cans and three quarters of a bottle of tequila with a friend before going into the city.

Body-worn camera footage played to Plymouth Crown Court on Tuesday showed the 51-year-old pushing a police riot shield and being "prolifically vocal" as he tried to help someone on the ground during a riot in the port city last Monday.

He was also said to have made lewd gestures and been heard swearing.

Judge Robert Linford described Harkness as being the "least involved" in terms of "direct violence" to come before him, and acknowledged that he was not associated with either "faction", nor had he attended the riot "with the intention of starting or being involved in any trouble".

But handing down his sentence to Harkness, who pleaded guilty to violent disorder at an earlier hearing, Judge Linford said: "Of the people I have thus far sentenced, you are the person who provides me with the most difficulty because it cannot be levelled at you that you hit anyone, neither have you thrown anything, neither is it said that you spat at anybody.

"But it is accepted by you that you were a party to this disorder and I have to sentence you on that basis, and you know that anyone party to it has to receive a custodial sentence."

Harkness thanked the judge as he was led away.

A New Jersey father has entered a plea deal after fatally punching a man who called his kids the N-word. Lavallette-Seaside Shorebeat reports that the Black man, Anthony Collins, struck Robert May, 70, in September 2023 in Seaside Heights, NJ. Collins pled guilty to manslaughter in connection to the attack in June and will now spend three years in jail. Under terms of the No Early Release Act, the man will need to serve about 31 months of his sentence before he's eligible for parole.

At least five people have been injured after an attacker wearing a skeletal mask, helmet, and a 'bulletproof vest' slashed multiple people in the city of Eskisehir yesterday.

The 18-year-old suspect, armed with a long knife, broadcast the attack at the tea garden of the Tepebaşı mosque on X.

The suspected attacker did not say a word during the more than two minute graphic clip.

Only heavy breathing can be heard in the footage in which the suspect runs through a park, train station, and along the streets randomly slashing at people.

A crazed Turkish teen who appeared to be wearing Nazi paraphernalia stabbed at least five people outside a mosque — and livestreamed the bloody rampage on social media.

A street performer who witnessed the stabbing said he saw a young, white male wearing a black T-shirt and jeans attack the pair.

Desmond, 45, said the knifeman focused the attack on the girl, putting her in a headlock and stabbing her.

Desmond, who performs as Darth Vader on the square "every day", told The Telegraph that he was standing outside the Lego store when the stabbing took place.

He said: "I was looking forwards, and when I heard the screaming I had to turn to the side. And when I looked he [the assailant] was attacking the little girl. He was stabbing her with a knife."

Before Desmond could get down off his stand, he said two men who appeared to be passing by intervened.

He said: "The two boys who were passing, they rushed the [attacker], and pushed him to the ground. And the police got there really quickly and handcuffed him and put him in a van."

When the police arrived and put the attacker in handcuffs, Desmond told The Telegraph that the attacker did not resist: "He was not fighting or struggling with them, he was not struggling at all."

The force said a man had been arrested and was in custody. Police do not believe the suspect knew the victims and said they did not believe the attack to be terror-related.

Scotland Yard said neither the child or woman's injuries are life-threatening and added there is no suggestion the attack is terror-related.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the national security committee met on Monday morning to discuss the change.

'Probable does not mean inevitable and it does not mean there is intelligence about an imminent threat or danger,' Mr Albanese told reporters in Canberra.

'But the advice that we've received is that more Australians are embracing a more diverse range of extreme ideologies.'

ASIO director-general Mike Burgess said Australia's national security environment had become more volatile.

'There's a greater than 50 per cent chance of an onshore terrorist attack in the next 12 months,' he said.

'Politically motivated violence now joins espionage and foreign interference as our principal security concerns,' he said.

'Unfortunately, here and overseas, we are seeing spikes in political polarisation and intolerance and civil debate and un-peaceful protests.'

Mr Burgess said anti-authority beliefs were also growing along with a decline in trust in democratic institutions.

He added: 'There's plenty of anti-Semitism but there's plenty of Islamophobia at the same time. It's almost equal treatment, not quite, but almost equal treatment.' 

Mr Burgess said ASIO and his law enforcement colleagues were 'reviewing our caseload of assessed violent extremists'.

Internal rancour has gripped the US NGO National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a CIA cutout responsible for fermenting political discontent in countries regarded as adversaries by Washington. It's perhaps best known for helping to foment the 2014 Maidan coup in Ukraine, a country that its founder Carl Gershman labelled "the biggest prize."

The debacle has resulted in two senior officials being fired and a "civil war" erupting between older neoconservatives and younger management – which the former accuses of being too "woke" – according to documents obtained by The Grayzone.

The scandal was sparked after then newly-appointed NED vice-president for communications broke ranks by engaging with journalists the organisation had previously shunned. Leslie Aun took exception to the Grayzone's portrayal of the organization as CIA proxy, and initiated a call with the outlet's Max Blumenthal and Alex Rubinstein, which it published in May 2023.

During the call, Aun, failed to provide any assurance of any statutory separation between the NED and the CIA. "I don't know if it's in the statute. I don't know if it's — I mean, I don't — I don't know. I'm going to sound like an idiot. I don't mean to sound like an idiot," she told the reporters.

On Tuesday, the Grayzone published several leaked emails between Michael Allen – former editor of the NED's 'Democracy Digest' blog – and the Endowment's founding president Carl Gershman, revealing that the fallout from the call's publication may have cost Aun and Allen their jobs. Grayzone didn't reveal where it had obtained the correspondence.

"Amateur hour – hugely embarrassing!" Allen emailed Gershman and NED VP for government relations, David Lowe, a day after the recording was posted on YouTube. "I specifically counseled against her talking to these people."

Lowe described Aun's performance as "breathtakingly ignorant" and "too painful to listen to." Both he and Gershman, who retired in 2021, appeared to disparage the new NED president Damon Wilson – a veteran of NATO's Atlantic Council adjunct – for hiring her.

Gershman described the call as a "disastrous screwup" and described Aun as "obviously clueless," a "moron," and a "clueless wonder" whose hiring was an "egregious error" reflecting Wilson's alleged focus on media and image.

In messages to Gershman and Lowe, Allen blamed NED communications director, Christine Bednarz, who reportedly encouraged Aun to talk to the Grayzone. Allen also turned his fire on Bednarz for instituting mandatory "diversity, equity and inclusion" training and berating him about his "white male privilege."

In one email, Allen complained about the DEI training agenda including "microaggressions" and the "ideological, not historical" 1619 Project, noting that Bednarz had berated him for not using pronouns on his business cards and email signature.

In a June 5, 2023 email to Gershman, Allen complained about the communications team focusing on the "more urgent matter of NED's LGBTQIA+ agenda" rather than the Grayzone fallout.

Another point of conflict arose after the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, with Allen complaining that several NED staffers "promoted and attended the pro-Palestinian march organized by ANSWER" and that the NED president still backed Black Lives Matter on Facebook even after they "enthusiastically celebrated the Hamas massacres."

At one point, Gershman asked if Bednarz harbored some kind of personal resentment for her Israeli ex-husband, or if she was "just a woke flake," to which Allen replied: "The latter, combined with a certain megalomania and defensive resentment over the Grayzone fiasco."

Allen was eventully fired on December 12. In an email to Gershman and Lowe in February, he claimed his move was in part due to "marginalization prompted by the Grayzone affair, arguably the biggest PR fiasco in NED's history."

Aun was fired at some point as well and paid a substantial settlement for "sex discrimination," according to the documents obtained by the Grayzone. Her online biographies make no mention of her work at NED.

NED was founded in 1983 at the behest of the CIA, which proposed the creation of such an organization to then-President Ronald Reagan. NED founder Allen Weinstein admitted to the Washington Post in 1991 "What we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA."

An elderly Trump supporter has been seriously hurt in a 'politically motivated' incident after being run over by an ATV while he was putting up a campaign sign in his yard.

The 80-year-old Michigan man sustained critical injuries after the vehicle plowed into him in front of his home in Hancock on Sunday.

The suspect was identified on Monday after he called police to confess to 'a crime involving an ATV driver in the last 24 hours', according to their statement.

However, when cops arrived they discovered the 22-year-old Biden/Harris supporter dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police alleged the driver had vandalized two other vehicles prior to the hit and run, and was linked to three 'politically motivated' cases in total.
