Democratic Capitalist countries like the USA, the UK, Germany, France, and Italy actually made most of the scientific discoveries and inventions in history and that is because they did not violate human rights, at least not to the extreme extent that it was violated in the Soviet Union and other Communist countries like China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Ethiopia, Cuba, and Chile.

These Communist countries killed a total of 133,000,000 dissenters and enslaved another 32,000,000 dissenters in their labor camps.

That is why most of these Communist Regimes collapsed because imposing too many restrictions on people's freedom damages the economy because if many products are forbidden from being made and sold, it limits the revenue generated by the government either through taxes or through direct sales as is the case with Communist countries.

Now, the only Communist countries left are North Korea and Cuba but they have already opened their doors to world trade and allowed for some degree of Capitalism after the deaths of Kim Jong Il and Fidel Castro and their replacement with less extremist leaders such as Kim Jong Un and Raul Castro respectively. For example, they already have fast food restaurants, convenience stores, and malls in North Korea, and imported brand new cars in Cuba.
