London bloodbath: Man, 22, shot dead in Tottenham Cemetery – police launch murder probe

A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been shot dead at Tottenham Cemetery in north London as a wave of violent crime continues to sweep the capital.

The man, who has not been named, was gunned down at the cemetery on White Hart Lane in N17 shortly before 8am.

Armed police officers, a police helicopter and paramedics from London Ambulance Service were scrambled to the scene of the attack.

However, the victim could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scotland Yard's Homicide and Major Crime Command has launched a murder investigation following this morning's shooting.

No one has yet been arrested in connection with the attack, and police are unsure of the motive behind the shooting.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called to Tottenham Cemetery in N17 at 07:53am today.

"Armed officers, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended the scene.

"They found a 22-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We sent an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic, two single responders in cars and an ambulance crew.

"Sadly, despite our efforts, a person died at the scene."

More than 100 people have been killed in London so far this year, heaping pressure on politicians to tackle the crime wave.

BREAKING: Brit town centre on LOCKDOWN after '70 youths start MASS BRAWL'


A HUGE brawl allegedly involving 70 schoolchildren has forced a Brit town centre to be placed on lockdown.

Police scrambled to Uxbridge town centre in west London tonight where teenagers reportedly "stamped on people's heads" in a mass fight.

The major brawl allegedly involved pupils from three schools and broke out near a Clark's shoe shop in the town's main High Street.

Witnesses say "hundreds" of youths were fighting and that shops on the street were forced to "lock the doors" due to the "chaos".

One passer-by even claimed an "old man" who tried to intervene was also set upon.

The witness said: "100+ children smashing up Uxbridge town centre; stamping on random people's heads after kicking them to the floor. Shops closed, police present.

"They were all in school uniform. They were overheard on the bus after bragging and watching the films they'd made. Saying it was self defence.

"One young student they pushed off his skateboard and then all stamping on his face. Second was an old man. So sad."

Police say all the youths had dispersed by 7.25pm – more than an hour after the fight broke out.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police added that one youth fled into the Clark's shoe shop to escape the fight.

The Met say they have now authorised a Section 35 dispersal order, meaning anyone who refuses to leave the town centre, or who returns after being made to move on.

The force said in a statement: "A dispersal zone has been authorised in Uxbridge Town Centre, to prevent Anti-Social Behaviour and violence with injury.

"This has been granted by Inspector Harris and is in place from 5.40pm September 10 until 5.39pm September 12.

"Section 35 of the Antisocial Behaviour, Police and Crime Act 2014 allows a police officer of at least the rank of Inspector to authorise a dispersal zone for up to 48 hours.

"Once authorised, a constable in uniform may, under circumstances, direct a person to leave the area, in whole or in part, and direct the person not to return for up to 48 hours."

Shedding more light on what happened, Hillingdon Police tweeted: "We were called to a large group of youths fighting in the high street.

"As we've arrived there were approximately 70 youths causing issues and fighting amongst themselves."

London bloodbath: Manhunt launched after man stabbed in Croydon

Police were alerted to a stabbing on Bensham Lane, Croydon, at about 9.12pm.

Once at the scene they found a man in his 30s had been stabbed multiple times.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at about 9.12pm to reports of a stabbing Bensham Lane, Croydon.

"Officers attended along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service.

"A male, believed to be aged in his 30s was found with stab injuries.

"He remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."

No arrests have been made at this time.
