A security officer was stabbed by an African 'youth' when he tried to intervene in an armed robbery on a platform in the Paris metro.  The incident unfolded at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the French capital.  Three off-duty GPSR officers from the Autonomous Parisian Transportation Administration (RATP) were heading home after a training session when they observed a suspect armed with a large blade ambush a young woman in an attempt to steal her purse.  The trio quickly intervened and the assailant managed to escape. However, the suspect followed the men on their journey and launched another attack on a platform at the Porte de Bagnolet station.

The suspect was not carrying any identification and may be in the country illegally.

"The protagonist pulled out a bladed weapon with a 15 to 20 cm blade and stabbed one of the officers in the thigh," a police source told Le Figaro. Police arrived on the scene and arrested the attacker, who claimed to be a minor from the North African country of Algeria.  The suspect was not carrying any identification and may be in the country illegally.  The wounded officer was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.  Infowars regularly documents chaos and attacks on public transportation in Western Europe.

Moscow and Kiev issue update on Ukrainian border guards reported killed

The Russian military has claimed that Ukrainian border guards, whom Ukraine initially declared entirely slain, survived, while Kiev's military concurred that it might indeed be the case. Both countries' armed forces on Saturday said that a group of Ukrainian border guards stationed on Snake Island, located some 48km off Ukraine's southern coast in the Black Sea, were captured by Russian forces. Russia says they were taken alive and unharmed to Sevastopol in Crimea. However, the initial story allegedly went as follows: a group of 13 border guards on the island were confronted by a Russian warship on Thursday. The Russian ship ordered the group by radio to surrender, the Ukrainians replied "go f**k yourself," and the Russian ship opened fire. After several hours of fighting, all the guards were killed.

The story spread like wildfire on social media and was held up by the Ukrainian government, Western media outlets... as an example of Ukrainian "heroism." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky honored the troops he declared slain, saying: "On our [Snake] Island, defending it to the last, all the border guards died heroically," and promising to award them the posthumous title of "Hero of Ukraine." The first signs that something else may have happened came early on Saturday, as Russia's Black Sea Fleet announced that dozens of Ukrainian border troops were delivered to Sevastopol, Crimea, with videos online purportedly showing their arrival. Ukraine's Border Guard Service stated shortly afterwards that the troops on Snake Island "bravely defended themselves," but were taken prisoner when the island was captured...

The Russian Ministry of Defense likewise confirmed the capture of the island. Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said that 82 Ukrainian servicemen had been stationed on the island, that all surrendered, and that none were injured. Konashenkov said that as prisoners were being transported off the island, 16 Ukrainian Navy boats disguised as civilian vessels launched an attack on Russia's Black Sea fleet.

Konashenkov said that Russians destroyed six of the Ukrainian vessels, and claimed that US drones were seen operating in the area, suggesting that the US "directed" the Ukrainian boats. These reports have not yet been corroborated. A recording of the Snake Island garrison supposedly telling the Russian ship to "go f**k yourself" is still circulating on social media. There is currently no evidence that the recording is genuine, and Ukraine's Border Guard Service only said that the troops gave a message indicating "no one will surrender."

Oil prices are swinging dramatically, with recent peaks pushing close to a major milestone: $100 a barrel. The possibility of Russia invading Ukraine is the driving force, but more is at play than the risk of war. And complicating predictions further, the possibility of a deal with Iran is hovering in the background. Brent crude prices surged to as high as $99.50 early on Tuesday, after Russia said it was sending troops to eastern Ukraine... U.S. and European countries are drawing up sanctions. Russia is one of the world's largest producers of oil and natural gas, accounting for 17% of the world's natural gas and 12% of its oil. And a sizable portion of Russia's natural gas exports, in particular, are carried to Europe through pipelines that pass through Ukraine. That means the outbreak of war could shut down much of Europe's supply of natural gas. In response to Russian President Vladimir Putin's recognition of separatist-held areas in Ukraine, the Biden administration has already issued sanctions against those regions, as well as against two Russian financial institutions. Russia could also throttle energy exports in retaliation for sanctions. Any of these outcomes would take supply off the market, while also fueling greater uncertainty, which also tends to elevate prices. Some Wall Street analysts are even eyeing the possibility of oil hitting as high as $150.

Trudeau will try to scare the Russians

A fundamental mismatch between supply and demand was driving prices up well before the Ukraine-Russia tensions escalated...crude prices, the commonly used global benchmark, averaged less than $42 a barrel. In 2021, they averaged just under $71. Prices have spent most of February trading in the low $90s... Surging oil prices benefit oil producers... Gasoline prices in the U.S. are averaging more than $3.50 a gallon, the highest average since 2014. If crude prices should rise higher, gasoline prices would almost certainly climb more. The biggest burden would fall on lower-income families, since they spend a larger percentage of their household budget on gasoline. "I want to limit the pain that the American people are feeling at the pump," Biden said in a speech on Tuesday. "This is critical." Meanwhile, rising natural gas prices could raise electricity and home heating bills.

Biden might try to solve the oil crisis with just a signature

The increasing costs for transportation, power and heat would all contribute to inflation, which is already at its highest rate in 40 years in the U.S.... but a reduction in Russian exports would hit Europe much harder than the U.S., given European reliance on Russian natural gas. Because the pipeline is not yet functioning, this doesn't reduce Russian exports directly, but it suggests that at least some European leaders are willing to absorb potentially intense price increases for diplomatic reasons. The U.S. and other countries have been discussing alternative sources of natural gas and oil to compensate for a Russian shortfall, but it's not clear how much could be made available to Europe, given the tight global market.

The U.S. exited the 2015 Iran nuclear deal during the Trump administration and hit Iran with punishing sanctions that — among other things — sharply limited how much oil it can export. Negotiations are underway to revive the 2015 deal. If successful, a lot of Iranian oil would be heading to global markets. Those Iranian barrels would logically bring prices down.

Rep. Herrell made the announcement on Twitter after she compared Trudeau to brutal authoritarians like the Marxists ruling Venezuela. Rep. Yvette Herrell, R-N.M, said she plans to introduce a bill that would grant temporary asylum to the Canadian "Freedom Convoy" truckers, who have been protesting the country's COVID-19 vaccine mandate for truckers over the last month. Canadian police have started to arrest protestors in Ottawa, Canada's capital.

Approximately 200 have been arrested as of Sunday morning, with 57 vehicles having been towed so far. Townhall reports that among those arrested, 103 have been charged, mostly for mischief and obstruction. On Twitter, Herrell said Saturday that "[J]ust as we provide asylum for political prisoners, we should do the same for truckers who have been subjected to violence, had their property confiscated, and their bank accounts frozen by a government that is quickly becoming the embarrassment of the free world.

During an EU press conference in Strasbourg last week, Terhes denounced Trudeau for his declaration of martial in Canada to crush the protesters who've been occupying Ottawa for weeks. "The prime minister of Canada, the way he's behaving right now, he's exactly like a tyrant, a dictator. He's like Ceaușescu in Romania," Terhes said, referring to the former Romanian communist dictator.

A man who has a track record of assaulting strangers allegedly punched a four-year-old boy in the head in Times Square on Thursday, authorities say. Police say the attack occurred around 3:20 p.m. at the corner of 7th Avenue and West 46th Street when Babacar Mbaye, 34, randomly pummelled the small child who was with his 43-year-old mother... Surveillance footage shows two women, one of whom is the four-year-old's mother, going after the suspect. One of the women tackled the perp to the ground while the other swung an object in her hand while standing over him, the footage appears to show. Two police officers then burst into the frame, with one of them engaging the suspect on the ground...

The boy received medical attention at the scene in Times Square. While being taken into custody, Mbaye allegedly kicked a police officer. Neither Breitbart nor the NY Post which covered this story used the words "black" or "white" to describe this incident. For the record, if a man's name is Babacar Mbaye, he's from Senegal.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association announced it is suing the Canadian government for invoking the Emergencies Act, arguing the emergency powers are a violation of human rights. CCLA executive director Noa Mendelsohn said, "Emergency powers cannot and must not be normalized." She added that the act "seriously infringes on the Charter rights of Canadians." The act was approved by parliament in 1988. It was used for the first time by Trudeau's government, with the justification that the civil liberties protests are a threat to Canada's economy and public safety.

"Protest is how people in a democracy share their political messages of all kinds, whether they be environmental activists, students taking to the streets, Indigenous land defenders, workers on strike, people who know that Black lives matter, and others who oppose government measures of all kinds," Mendelsohn said. Amnesty International also criticized Canada for invoking the Emergencies Act, arguing it "raises concerns and questions relating to the respect of human rights."

GiveSendGo became the preferred crowdfunding site for the protesters after another platform, GoFundMe, suddenly seized donations meant for the convoy and said the money would be shunted to unnamed charities. After backlash, GoFundMe said it would automatically refund all of the donations but protesters urged people to turn to GiveSendGo because of what unfolded. GiveSendGo has run into problems in recent days, though, including being hacked in mid-February. Additionally, a Canadian court moved to freeze all donations for the convoy raised on GiveSendGo. Over $8 million had been donated; that figure is now over $9.6 million. In its update Friday titled "Where's the money?"

The truckers have received  some of the funds, the company said, but not all. The "bulk of the funds are in an undisclosed U.S. bank," GiveSendGo said. That was one of the steps taken to prevent the court-ordered freeze from taking place. "Right now, the teams involved are actively discussing the legal  options for getting the funds where they need to go," the company added. GiveSendGo did not respond to a list of emailed questions, including  exactly how much of the money has been conveyed to the truckers. The company is asking people who donated not to request a refund  because the funds "will be needed for the truckers and their legal  teams.". Organizers said that the Canadian government did not have  possession of the donations and described the court order as "a  temporary block."

"Our legal team is challenging the government's order and we are  working at ways around this," they wrote. "The best way is to continue  donating to help the truckers here on the ground and not request a  refund. We thank GiveSendFor for their commitment to ensure that the  donations flow directly to the Freedom Convoy truckers here in Ottawa." People have continued donating through Feb. 19...

The Ottawa Police have threatened to arrest members of the media who are covering the Freedom Convoy arrests

 
The threat comes one day after a vow from Interim Police Chief Steve Bell to crack down on the protest. "All media who are attending the area, please keep a distance and stay out of police operations for your safety. Anyone found within areas undergoing enforcement may be subject to arrest. There will be a media availability later today at 474 Elgin Street," the department tweeted from their official account.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, Bell said, "do not come to our downtown court. We're sick of what's happening in our streets so leave our area. We will continue with that message this weekend. What you're seeing is an increased enforcement presence. And we won't be allowing people to come down for the unlawful activities of engaging in demonstrations."

On Thursday evening, two key organizers of the convoy were arrested. Tamara Lich, a spokesperson for the demonstration and organizer of the GoFundMe and GiveSendGo fundraisers, and organizer Chris Barber, were both arrested. According to the Freedom Convoy Twitter account, Lich and Barber have been charged with "counseling to commit mischief." Barber has additionally been charged with "counseling to commit obstruction."

Data shows that the value wiped out by the selloff in Meta's shares exceeds the market caps of all but eight companies in the S&P 500 Index. While he denounced what was happening in Donbass as "genocide," he also said that everything should be done to end the war there by fulfilling the terms of the 2015 Minsk 2 agreement, which would see Donbass reintegrated within Ukraine with significant autonomy. The council said that such images could be illegal if displayed for "propaganda purposes," a term that can be decided by authorities on a case-by-case basis, but maintained that prevention was the better approach in dealing with most  incidents.

It also pointed to Federal Supreme Court case law, which finds it acceptable "that objectionable views are also represented, even if they are untenable for the majority." The ruling angered the Swiss Federation of Israelite Communities (SIG), which represents Switzerland's 20,000 or so Jews. "This attitude of the Federal Council is incomprehensible," read a statement from SIG, which argued that because  "People who give the Hitler salute in public or use a swastika already  represent a well-established anti-Semitic ideology ...

US nuclear submarine violates Russian waters – Defense Ministry

The Russian Navy has detected a US nuclear submarine in the country's territorial waters, chasing the vessel away

A US Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine has been detected and chased away in Russian territorial waters off the Kuril Islands, Russia's Defense Ministry said on Saturday. The vessel was found submerged off the small uninhabited island of Urup while Russia's Pacific Fleet was holding exercises in the area. Russian vessels contacted the submarine, warning it was in the country's territorial waters and ordering it to surface immediately, the military said. The submarine, however, did not respond to the messages, and destroyer Marshal Shaposhnikov was deployed to chase it off. The Russian vessel used "appropriate means" against the US sub, the military noted without providing any further details. Following the run-in with the destroyer, the Virginia-class submarine used an active radar decoy, sailing away from Russian waters at full speed.

The Pacific Fleet's drills continued as scheduled after the incident, the military added. Shortly after the incident, the Russian Defense Ministry said it has summoned a US military attaché to explain the incursion. Moscow added that the actions of the submarine constitute a major violation of international law, and create a threat to Russia's national security. The military said it reserves the right to take any security measures in its own territorial waters.

Biden's response to US casualties

Washington had not commented on the incident at the time of this article's publication. It was not immediately clear what exact vessel was involved in the incident, with no official statement produced by the Pentagon on the incursion so far. The US has 19 active duty Virginia-class nuclear-powered submarines. The vessels are armed with cruise and anti-ship missiles, as well as massive Mark 48 torpedoes.

A new poll  released last week shows Hillary Clinton would beat Joe Biden in  Florida, a key state Trump won in 2016 and 2020, if the election were  held today. Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is expected to  speak at next week's New York State Democratic Party Convention,  according to people familiar with the matter.Clinton, who previously represented New York in the U.S. Senate, is  likely to take the stage in front of party leaders at the Sheraton hotel  in Times Square, these people said.

"She's beloved by the mainstream members of the Democratic Party and her popularity is likely higher than that of President Biden. It's good  for her because it keeps her relevant and her appearance is likely meant  to galvanize the party and the audience," said one of the people who  said Clinton is set to speak at next week's event.

Internal Affairs Bureau conducted probe in response to a police-brutality complaint

The beating of an unconscious Trump supporter by a DC Metropolitan Police Department officer on January 6  was deemed to be "objectively reasonable" after an investigation by  the department's Internal Affairs Bureau... The Internal Affairs investigation was opened in September 2021 based  on a complaint filed by a Texas man who assembled video evidence of the  officer striking an unconscious Rosanne Boyland with a steel baton and a  large wooden stick at the entrance to the West Terrace tunnel at the  U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Boyland, 34, of Kennesaw, Ga., was pinned under a pile of protesters  who fled the tunnel when police deployed a crowd-control gas. After  several minutes of being crushed by the weight of other fallen  protesters, Boyland lost consciousness and stopped breathing, witnesses  have said....

As Boyland lay unconscious on the ground DC Metro Police Officer Lila  Morris repeatedly struck her with a steel baton and what appeared to be  a wooden walking stick, according to a video recording.  The sudden attack horrified Boyland's friend and traveling companion,  Justin Winchell, who pleaded with police and protesters to provide  first aid to Boyland. Police bodycam video shows Winchell's shock when  he saw Morris strike Boyland in the head. "She's gonna die! She's gonna die! ... During the 11 minutes after Boyland fell, protesters made repeated  attempts at CPR—efforts that were frustrated in part by the beating and  police spraying pepper spray into the faces of those trying to help  Boyland, video shows.   "The use of force within this investigation was determined to be  objectively reasonable," wrote Capt. David K. Augustine, director of the  Risk Management Division... "Officer  Morris is still employed with the MPD and not facing criminal charges  related to the use of force on January 6."

Officer Morris... She raised the weapon over her head  with both hands and struck Boyland at least four times in rapid  succession. The stick broke at one point. Morris continued to strike at  Boyland until other officers pulled her back. "There is nothing reasonable about hitting a non-responsive woman  lying on the ground over the head with a baton," ... "The fact that they have been lying from the beginning is reason  enough for investigation," Anderson said. "The only reason why anyone  even knows this is because I barely survived and am here to now call out  their blatant lies (about) the woman that they killed."  McBride sent two videos as evidence along with his police-brutality  complaint. Trudeau responded to questions from the Opposition Conservatives on Wednesday, by claiming that Canada has never been so united. Vaccine mandates and the fact that Canadians stepped up to get vaccinated to almost 90 percent ensured that this pandemic didn't hit as hard here in Canada as elsewhere around the world," he said. "We  stayed focused on following the science, on promoting public health  rules and Canadians stepped up in their communities, for front line  health workers, they stepped for each others, and Canada has never been  as strong and together as we are now."

Why is he still there?

The  prime minister faced criticism from Liberal MP Joel Lightbound, who said that the prime minister made a conscious effort to divide Canadians  in the last election.  "A  decision was made to wedge, to divide and to stigmatize. I fear that  this politicization of the pandemic risks undermining the public's trust  in our public health institutions,"

The Arizona Forensic Audit Team announced during their  summary report 10 days ago that they caught Maricopa County deleting  subpoenaed files during their investigation

Investigator Ben Cotton shared the IT results from the audit of the  2020 Maricopa County Election Results in Maricopa County. During his  presentation, he noted that files were deleted by those involved in the  election the day before the machines were to be handed over to the audit  team. This is very likely a criminal act. Cotton noted that his team was able to identify the time stamps for  when the files were deleted and altered by Maricopa County officials. Ben Cotton: "We have captured screenshots of Maricopa County people at the keyboards during those time periods." The audience cheered in hearing the news!  On Thursday Maricopa County officials testified before a US House committee hearing.

The protests for the freedom of truckers, farmers, and people from all walks of life continue. Truckers from Canada blocked the Ambassador Bridge connecting Canada and the US. Truck drivers in Alaska made their own "Alaska Freedom Convoy" on Sunday in support of Canadian truckers.

Now, Hundreds or thousands of protestors drove in convoy to New Zealand's capital on Tuesday and blocked the parliament to protest against vaccine and mask mandates. New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern refused to meet the convoy saying she has other priorities.
