A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into an Alice Springs home and stole a bank card, which he then used at six different stores on a $550 shopping spree.
Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the man allegedly broke into a vehicle and a home at Larapinta on May 10, where he stole a bank card, sunglasses and keys.
"Police allege the offender used the bank card at six different stores in Alice Springs CBD to purchase food items and clothing totalling $550," he said.
The man was arrested on Thursday and was charged with stealing, interfere with a motor vehicle and six counts of criminal deception.
He will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on July 19.
