An Native American woman from a reservation in the United States has arrived in Central Australia to exchange knowledge with local Indigenous groups.

Shalaya Williams is a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

She's currently working with tribal elders to research bush foods and traditional ecological knowledge, and is also a skilled horse woman.

Ms Williams says she's excited to be spending the next month in Indigenous communities learning about everything from camel management to bush foods.

"I came over here not only to tell our side of the story but to grasp their story and bring it home as well.

"Their connection with the land and our connection with the land is very similar, so I think it's great we're sharing these stories."



So as you can see Somebody in all their wisdom set up a "nigger exchange" between the US and Australia, so the indigenous scum can come meet each other and "get each other's side of the story" about the bad White man!

I mean what were they trying to do ? Breed some kind of human weapon? Some hinderance race where they could drop on Iraq or Syria and trash their economy?

Several of China's largest state-run infrastructure groups will bid for a string of port and utility deals in Australia by year-end, reflecting the shift away from deals in the iron ore and coal sectors.

Banking giant HSBC has arranged funding for two of the largest inbound Chinese investments into Australia, in the past year: China Merchants Group, which teamed up with Hastings Funds Management in a $1.75 billion deal to secure a 98-year lease on the Port of Newcastle last year, and more recently China Communications Construction Company for its $1 billion acquisition of former Leighton subsidiary John Holland.

"China has got an enormous amount of sovereign wealth and it is looking to deploy that money into high quality assets into Australia," said Todd Langsford, HSBC's head of leveraged acquisition finance, in an interview with Fairfax Media.



The bank said there has been a strategic shift within China from mining and resources deals to infrastructure assets, reflecting a move in its economy away from heavy industry into transport, logistics and engineering with a long-term investment focus.

"When you talk to the senior folk in those firms, it's not just a pure investment thesis," said Lyndon Hsu, HSBC's Asia Pacific head of leveraged acquisition finance. "In fact the returns these investors are making you could not describe as being short term, high level returns. They are actually more longer term based returns."

While long-term supplies of Australian iron ore and coal remain critical for China, deals are unlikely to be so closely tied to the mine gate, according to Mr Hsu who points to China Merchants and Hastings' preference for long dated, reliable returns from the Port of Newcastle.

"Clearly China Merchants were attracted to the infrastructure asset and they like the long-term returns associated with that type of investment," said Mr Langsford.

It is alleged the assault at the Red Brick Hotel, Woolloongabba, in May last year erupted following simmering tensions between union and protest groups at an earlier rally in South Brisbane.

Unionist Joseph John Myles, who is from Victoria, appeared before the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning to face charges including serious assault and affray.

The court heard Myles had recently been picked up on an arrest warrant at Sydney Airport after returning from an overseas trip.

On May 2, 2014, members of the Australia First Party were protesting at the imprisonment of the Greek Golden Dawn Members of Parliament in a rally at South Brisbane when unionists took offence to the group's use of an Eureka flag, it is alleged.


The union members allegedly confiscated the flag twice before the police retrieved it.

Hours later, tensions between the sides escalated at the hotel.

Myles is alleged to have punched a 66-year-old man to the ground and continued attacking him while he was on the floor.

The union official was previously released on bail in NSW, subject to the conditions that he was to surrender his passport and stump up a $10,000 cash surety.

ACCUSED murderer Wei Li has admitted his mother died at his hands before he left Adelaide for China — but has told a jury he acted in self-defence. 
 
Counsel for Li today said issues of "control, expectation and means", as well as the relationship between Li and Hong Xia Tien, would be central to their client's Supreme Court trial.

Prosecutors, however, said the case was one of strangulation murder, that Mrs Tien had sustained trauma to 53 areas of her body and that Li's bloody fingerprints were found on a metal pole.

One of those injuries, they said, was a 4cm cut to the back of her head.

They said that, after leaving Adelaide and before departing for China, Li was highly intoxicated, complained to friends about "police helicopters" and hired a male prostitute.


Li, 22, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Mrs Tien in the family's Burnside home in March 2011.
