POLICE are hunting a man who was filmed smashing the window of a Nightcliff business in relation to Saturday's ram raids.


Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said in the early hours of Saturday morning, a stolen Hino truck was allegedly involved in three ram raids.

"Around 3am CCTV footage at a Nightcliff business captured the vehicle of interest pull up in the car park," he said.

"A male, believed to be a passenger in the vehicle, is then observed smashing the window of the business, before being disturbed by staff members and fleeing.


"Police are extremely interested in talking to this individual."

The man is described as being of indigenous appearance, wearing dark pants and a black top with white runners. At the time of the offence he was wearing a white cloth as a makeshift hat.

THE manhunt for escaped convicted killer Jeffrey Ahwon continues a week after he walked free from the Darwin Correctional Centre.


Ahwon, 19, was reported missing from the Darwin Correctional Centre when he failed to attend a muster parade last Saturday morning.

Police raided a number of properties across Darwin and Palmerston last Sunday linked to the convicted killer but are yet to track him down.

Ahwon is described as being of indigenous appearance, 175cm tall and of medium build.


A police spokesman said Ahwon was not considered to be a threat to the public.

A MAN threatened three innocent people with a gun after he was fed bogus information that the victims knew the location of Fabian Brock's alleged killer, believing he had kidnapped another young man.


Alfred Walker was duped by "rubbish" information from a woman, defence lawyer Beth Wild told the NT Supreme Court.

"He acknowledges the terror (the victims) must have felt," Ms Wild said.

"We don't know why this misinformation was provided to him – there is probably some other intrigue."

Walker, 41, has admitted three counts of aggravated assault. Ms Wild said the offence happened the same day Fabian Brock – who Walker saw as a "little brother" – was found dead from a gunshot wound.

Ms Wild said her client and co-accused Shane Mulhall were led to believe that the alleged killer Rodney Kenyon, who is now on remand charged with murder, had kidnapped another person Walker considered family, Raymond Petterson-Cummings, and was torturing him. Ms Wild said the woman gave them an address in Driver, and told them a man named Marley Maxwell knew where to find Kenyon
Walker produced a sawn-off shotgun from a Coles shopping bag at the door of the Maxwell's unit and said, "The gun's loaded, let me in, this is no joke", about 6pm on June 13.

Mulhall allegedly bailed up two men at another unit and demanded to know where Kenyon was. Maxwell took off out his back door. Walker chased him. Maxwell tried to wrestle the gun from him but copped a smack in the face.

He jumped a fence into a yard with the other two men, when Walker shoved the gun through the railings and waved it at the trio.

Ms Wild said retribution was not her client's motivation.

"He was worried about the life of his young friend," she said., adding Walker was traumatised after pulling bodies from a car wreck at Tiwi last year.

Justice Jenny Blokland ordered psychological and pre-sentence reports.

NT Police are calling for witnesses to an assault on two backpackers in Alice Springs early Thursday morning.


Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said the tourists – a brother and sister – alleged they were assaulted by two unknown men on Traeger Avenue at about 5.30am.

"The male of the pair was assaulted by the two men, who then fled with the tourists' backpacks," he said.

The female tourist was unharmed, but her brother was taken to hospital with minor facial injuries.


Both suspects are described as being indigenous in appearance. One of the men was wearing a red hat, dark hoody and dark pants, while the other had a black hat and hoody.
