Israel is calling on the UN to condemn an international 'Holocaust denial' cartoon competition being held by two Iranian organisations.

Iran's House of Cartoon and the Sarcheshmeh Cultural Complex are organising the contest, and are offering a cash prize of $12,000 (£7,960) to the winner, $8,000 (£5,300) for the cartoonist that makes second place and £5,000 (£3,320) for third place, the Tehran Times reported. Entries are being accepted until the 1 April.

Established in 1996, the House of Cartoon aims to find talented cartoonists both in Iran and around the World, according to its website.

The secretary of the second International Holocaust Cartoons Contest, Masud Shojaei-Tabatabaii, told reporters in a press conference last month that this year's competition is in response to the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed in French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo magazine.

A hospice in Wrexham has reunited a centuries-old Bible with relatives of the family who owned it.

The 1837 Welsh Bible contains family inscriptions and shows it was given to different generations over the years.

It was donated in a bag of belongings to a Nightingale House Hospice charity shop in Wrexham.

But following publicity, relatives of a man named John Parry in Llanfihangel, Montgomeryshire, realised it had belonged to him.

After reading the story, Brian Parry said: "My wife heard it on the news, she let me know that the name of the farm was on the television and I asked her why and it's unbelievable really.

"It's a nice feeling I will look after it and treasure it, just another part of a long family history."

Orania, Northern Cape - Two decades after the end of apartheid, a white enclave in South Africa wants to preserve its way of life and dreams of an independent homeland.

At a street corner decked with flowers, the South African village of Orania has a statue and museum dedicated to 1960s prime minister Hendrik Verwoerd, remembered as one of the architects of apartheid.

Not a single black person is to be seen on the orderly streets lined with upscale houses.

Waiters, gardeners and cleaning women - jobs usually done by black people in South Africa - are white in Orania.

Most South Africans regard the village of 1 100 residents as a last bastion of racial discrimination after it was abolished nationwide with the election of Nelson Mandela as the country's first black president in 1994.

But Oranians say they only want to preserve the unique way of life of a white African ethnic group, the Afrikaners.

"We don't want to melt" into the rest of South Africa - what Mandela called "the rainbow nation" - said Carel Boshoff, Verwoerd's grandson and president of the Orania Movement.

The movement that is informally linked to a small Afrikaner parliamentary party seeks self-determination for South Africa's 2.7 million Afrikaners, also known as Boers.

France promised to show "respect" to the head of Morocco's domestic intelligence, Abdellatif Hammouchi, by giving him one of the country's highest awards - the Legion d'honneur - even as he faces lawsuits over alleged torture.

A year ago, French judicial authorities sought to question Hammouchi about the allegations while he was visiting Paris, sparking a row between France and Morocco. The Moroccan government suspended cooperation agreements with France in protest. "It (France) will show again its respect for him (Hammouchi) by awarding him this time Les Insignes d'Officier de la Legion d'honneur," French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve told reporters in the Moroccan capital Rabat on Saturday.

In February, the two countries resumed cooperation after months of tough talks, after which French President François Hollande welcomed the Moroccan King Mohammed VI at the Elysee palace. The move was important for France, which wants intelligence from Morocco and other North African countries on terrorism suspects, particularly after last month's killings at the Charlie Hebdo magazine and a Jewish store in Paris.

"We have been facing the same challenges, those of terrorist groups which drag some of our nationals to the lines of Daesh group (the Islamic State group)," said Cazeneuve on his first visit to Morocco since the two countries resumed cooperation.

North African and European countries have been the biggest suppliers of Islamic State group fighters, including around 2,000 from Morocco, 3,000 from Tunisia and more than 1,000 from France. Many of the group's militants have at least two nationalities.

"We have agreed to multiply our contacts and meetings between the security officers of the two countries... to face terrorism and organised crime in all its forms," Moroccan Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad said.

'Lose its soul'

Hammouchi received a lower degree of the prestigious order in 2011. He has made no public comment on the lawsuits brought against him by Moroccan-French activists. It was not clear what steps, if any, would be taken next in the lawsuits against him.

Morocco's domestic intelligence, the DGST, has often been accused by Moroccan and international human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, of torturing activists and terrorism suspects, sometimes on behalf of the CIA. "This is an absolute outrage, a disgrace for France," Patrick Baudouin, lawyer for one of the plaintiffs and honorary president of the International Federation for Human Rights, said about the forthcoming award.

"This is degrading for France to give in to the Moroccan authorities and allow military and security cooperation between the two countries to be restored. It is a way to lose its soul," he said, later adding, "It is difficult then to appear as a country that boasts a respect for human rights."

The protesters, many of whom were divided into groups of men and women, and included children, gathered just yards from the Cenotaph
At least 1,000 Muslim protesters gathered outside the gates of Downing Street to protest against the depictions of the Prophet Mohammed in Charlie Hebdo, the French satirical magazine.

The protestors, many of whom were divided into groups of men and women, gathered just yards from the Cenotaph which remembers Britain's war dead, and blocked half of Whitehall as they demonstated. It comes weeks after two terrorists attacked the offices of Charlie Hebdo, the Paris-based satirical magazine which had published images of the Prophet Muhammad, killing 12 staff and wounding 11 others.

The protest was organised by the Muslim Action Forum, which said that the Charlie Hebdo cartoons had helped "sow the seeds of hatred" and had damaged community relations.  One young child, who appeared to be under the age of 10, stood next to a placard displaying the message: "Charlie and the abuse factory". A series of Muslim leaders addressed the crowd from a platform outside the Ministry of Defence, with the message "Be careful with Muhammad".

The government enforced Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday celebrates a sexual deviant, communist and plagiarist. Learn what the schools are not allowed to teach for fear of political persecution. Martin Luther King Jr. had well documented ties to the Communist Party, USA. On several documented occasions he met with Communist Party organizers to plan civil disturbances and unrest in the Southern United States.

Martin Luther King Jr. was also one of the worst plagiarists of the last century. King lifted sentences, phrases and entire paragraphs from texts like Paul Ramsey's 'Basic Christian Ethics'. Large portions of MLK's doctoral thesis were copied from the thesis of another student, and from the works of eminent theologians. Is this the type of man our children should revere equally with our Founding Fathers? No! It is time White Americans repeal the King Holiday. White students should not be taught to honor a traitor to our country, a sexual deviant and plagiarist fraud.

(STRASBOURG) - More than 276,000 irregular migrants entered the European Union last year, more than double in 2013, the bloc's commissioner for migration and home affairs, Dimitris Avramopoulos, said Tuesday.

"In 2014, more than 276,000 migrants arrived in the EU, representing an increase of 138 percent compared to the previous year," Avramopoulos told the European Parliament. He said some 207,000 of the arrivals landed on European shores via the Mediterranean Sea, where smugglers are now packing ships with hundreds of people fleeing Syria, other parts of the Middle East and Africa, then abandoning them on the water.

"Smugglers are finding new routes to Europe and are employing new methods in order to exploit desperate people who are trying to escape conflict and war," Avramopoulos said in a speech. Since September, more than 12 cargo ships smuggling people have arrived in Europe, mainly Italy. In the past, traffickers used small boats.

"Better coordination and a more comprehensive approach will help to address the roots of the current flows of irregular migrants and of smuggling," he added. Avramopoulos said the EU was in close contact with officials in Ankara to "adapt our strategies" now that Turkey has become an alternative route for smugglers.

He said EU member states have offered more than 36,000 places for Syrian refugees -- some 3.5 million have already fled to neighbouring states -- but Brussels must still "increase the number of refugees resettled in EU countries".

JIHADISTS returning to Germany from fighting with the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq have revealed the extent of the terrorist militia's brutality against its own members, according to a newspaper article.

SOME 200 German jihadists have returned from the fighting and one in five of them is co-operating with German security services and giving details of the time spent with IS, the Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported on Saturday. Many of the returning fighters speak of a climate of fear, mistrust and mercilessness. One spoke of being taken to a "slaughterhouse" because he refused to hand over his passport. The walls and floor were covered in blood.

He also told of a headless corpse being tossed into his sleeping quarters. Suspected informants are tortured, shot or beheaded, the report said. One returning fighter spoke of a newcomer being executed merely because he had hidden his mobile phone. The terrorists are afraid that US drones can lock onto the positioning data of mobile phones. There were also reports that fighters who tried to leave the country without the written permission of an emir were shot.

Some fighters spoke of brutal tests of their courage, including being ordered to murder people just to show that they could follow orders from IS. Some 50 fighters have returned to the German state of North Rhine Westphalia. The authorities there are most concerned about the brutalised, battle-hardened jihadists among them. They estimate around 10 men belong to this group. The remaining fighters are traumatised or disillusioned, according to the report.

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, 90, fell down steps from a podium after speaking to supporters upon his return from Ethiopia, say witnesses.  :thumbs up

Mugabe appeared to miss a step and toppled when he left the raised lectern at the airport Wednesday afternoon, according to several witnesses, who insisted on anonymity because of security concerns. His aides quickly helped him up and escorted him to his limousine which sped away, they said.

"He addressed supporters who welcomed him ... He missed a step as he walked down from the podium and immediately fell down," said a witness. Some press photographers who captured the fall said they were forced to delete their pictures by security personnel.

Mugabe's spokesman was not immediately available for comment. Mugabe was elected chairman of the 54-nation African Union at a summit of African leaders on Jan. 30 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role of rotating AU chairman is largely ceremonial.

He celebrates his 91st birthday on February 21. Mugabe takes annual vacations every January to Asia, including Singapore where he has visited specialists for checkups on his eyes, according to Zimbabwean officials. The Zimbabwean leader has repeatedly insisted that he is "fit as two fiddles."

Zimbabwe, a once-prosperous nation of 13 million people in southern Africa, has struggled since Mugabe's government began seizing white-owned farms in 2000. Mugabe is accused of using widespread violence to win several disputed elections, according to human rights groups. The country suffered hyperinflation until it abandoned its currency for the U.S. dollar in 2009.

The EU imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe in 2002 over abuses linked to national elections, banning travel in Europe and freezing the assets of dozens of officials and business representatives. The measures have been gradually lifted in recent years to encourage reform but Mugabe and his wife Grace remain on the EU blacklist.

Now that Mugabe is the head of the African Union, the European Union has decided to ease its travel ban on him while he is chairman for the next year.

"A Greek militant anarchist group has claimed responsibility for a gunfire attack on the Israeli embassy building in Athens last year that caused no injury and minor damage."

Police said Wednesday a proclamation by the "Group of Popular Fighters" over the attack early on Dec. 12 was found in an Athens rubbish bin, following a phone call to a newspaper. Authorities had already linked the group to the Israeli embassy hit, in which more than 50 bullets from assault rifles were fired at the building's facade before it opened for business. Ballistic tests had shown that the weapons had also been employed in a similar shooting, claimed by the "Group of Popular Fighters" outside the German ambassador's residence in Athens in 2013. Nobody has been arrested for either shooting.

A final decision by the Council of Appeals Court Judges weighing the merits of the case against ultranationalist party Golden Dawn is expected next week, marking the final step for the case to go to trial.

The report will determine which of the 70 suspects will face what charges in a case that is being closely watched as the party accused of operating as a criminal organization came third in last Sunday's elections with 6.3 percent of the vote.

Prosecutor Isidoros Dogiakos, who led the probe into the party following the September 2013 murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas by a member of Golden Dawn, has compiled a 700-page report that he says contains damning evidence implicating in the murder key members of the neo-Nazi party, including its leader Nikos Michaloliakos, his deputy Christos Pappas, and party spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris – all three of whom were re-elected on Sunday.

Dogiakos's report suggests that Golden Dawn has been engaged in criminal activities since 1987 and that these surged following the party's election to Parliament in 2012 and included brutal attacks on migrants, several of which resulted in death. He proposes that all 18 party MPs elected in 2012 stand trial, together with another 52 party officials and members on a slew of charges, including running a criminal organization and several cases of murder and assault.

In five years time secure online voting should be an option for all voters in the UK, concludes a report published today by the Digital Democracy Commission.

The Commission recommends that voter education play a major role in this and that the profile and knowledge of the Electoral Commission be improved in order to create a website that will act as an "Aladdin's Cave for those wishing to participate in the UK's political process".

As well as making sure the UK has an effective online voting infrastructure in place by 2020, the Commission has put forward four other recommendations as part of a roadmap towards targets the House of Commons should meet to help it be more transparent, inclusive and engaging in the digital age.

Two men stand by the the gates of a farm

Chegutu in 2009. Zimbabwe's provincial
minister says white farmers who have

original land holdings for the past
15 years since the land invasions
began must now go. Picture:

Harare - A newly appointed Zimbabwean provincial minister says all remaining white farmers must abandon land they still use, as he handed over "offer letters" for some farms still operating under white control to traditional leaders.

An offer letter is a document from the government overriding all previous documents or understandings or title deeds about the ownership of any piece of agricultural land.  Joel Biggie Matiza, who was recently appointed a minister in Mashonaland East province, said this week that all of the remaining 200 to 300 white farmers who have been working small parts of their original land holdings for the past 15 years since the land invasions began, must now go.

"We have invited all the chiefs in the province to this ceremony where we are honouring the chiefs by returning land to the ancestors and rightful custodians," he said.  "In this province, we were protecting the very people who yesteryear were our erstwhile oppressors."

Matiza was speaking about 90km southeast of Harare during the hand-over of offer letters to 19 of the Mashonaland East province's 33 chiefs.  "This event is going to give a fresh outlook and perception in the way the land reform is going to be conducted in the province," he said.

"Freshly mandated from a cultural perspective, the pro-vince will conduct a programme of land allocation. Chiefs, youths, war veterans, detainees, women, civil servants, diplomatic service and ordinary people will be considered.  "The white farmers who are carrying out farming activities on gazetted land will not be tolerated, as it is illegal in terms of the laws of the country. Farms that exceed the recommended sizes will also be down-sized starting in February, so that their sizes comply with government legal requirement on maximum size."

QuoteThe chiefs each got between 60 and 80 hectares of land. Matiza said the province had 20 000 people on the waiting list for land.  Only white commercial dairy and cattle-breeding farmers or those who openly support Zanu-PF would be spared, he said.

AN ITALIAN artist and activist has 'Simpsonised' the Holocaust in a series of unsettling cartoons. aleXsandro Palombo redrew the beloved Simpson characters as Jews in Auschwitz to mark the 70th anniversary of the concentration camp's liberation.

He said the project, called 'Never Again', is "an invitation to reflection, an artwork to raise awareness, an indictment against intolerance, a punch to inhumanity." One image shows Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie emaciated in a gas chamber, while another has the cartoon family looking dejected behind a barbed wire fence.

"We must educate the new generations and tell them what happened. We have to do it without filters, bluntly, over and over again, through the memory of facts and terrifying images that reflect the horror of the Holocaust and the extermination of millions of human beings," the satirical artist explained.

Vancouver city councillor and New Brunswick professor locked in feud over 'white apologies'

QuoteVANCOUVER — Kerry Jang is a University of British Columbia psychiatry professor and a Vancouver city councillor. He had never heard of University of New Brunswick sociology professor Ricardo Duchesne until last June. That's when, he says, Prof. Duchesne sent an email to him and other council colleagues of Asian descent.

Prof. Duchesne directed them to an essay he'd written in reaction to proposed reconciliation efforts under review at the time by Vancouver council; these related to the treatment of Chinese immigrants in the city between the years 1886 and 1947.

Prof. Duchesne wrote derisively of the proposed measures. His essay, titled Chinese Head Tax, White Apologies, and 'Inclusive Redress,' declared that redress efforts — including possible financial compensation to ancestors and classroom education — have "the goal of taking Canada away from the Europeans and transforming the nation into a multicultural and multiracial society."

QuoteHe also speculated that "The Europeans [would not only have to] apologize but admit that their history is a sordid tale of genocide, and then hand over the lands in which this 'sordid exclusion' was played out to those who were excluded."

The Dellwood Market after it was looted in August. It was looted in November again by Ferguson protesters.

More than 180 suspects looted the Dellwood Market following the grand jury decision on November 24, 2014. If you can identiy any of these suspects, please contact the St. Louis County Police at 314-889-2341 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.Police are asking the public for their assistance in identifying the criminals.

The St. Louis County Police Department released nearly 200 images taken from surveillance video on the night looters ransacked a Dellwood business last November. The looting occurred on November 24, in the hours following the announcement that a grand jury would not indict a Ferguson police officer in the shooting death of Michael Brown.

The suspects smashed their way into the Dellwood Market on Chambers Road and stole several items before fleeing. Five Ferguson looters were arrested earlier this month after police released video from the looting of the Ferguson Phillips 66 station.

Public servants in the Defence Department have been banned from associating with extremist political groups, at work and in their spare time.

The department's employees will also be expected to dob-in colleagues they suspect of dabbling in extreme ideology.

Defence boss Dennis Richardson told his 21,000 civilian bureaucrats last year that their private political activities could now result in them being punished under the Australian Public Service Code of Conduct.

The move extends bans already in place on Australian Defence Force members belonging to groups that hold views that are extremist, violent, bigoted or discriminatory.

Anybody caught in defence workplaces advocating supremacist views or with material that is offensive or belittling to minority groups will be in trouble, staff have been warned.

The Interior Ministry has been seeking a renter for the fascist dictator's home in Braunau for three years

The Interior Ministry of Austria is having a hard time finding a renter for Adolf Hitler's birthplace in Braunau. The rent for the 8,600-square-foot home where one of history's worst villains was birthed in 1889 has become hard to keep up–at 4,600 Euros-per-month–since the building's last tenant left in 2011, Agence France-Presse reports.

The Austrian government has been renting the building since 1972, but hopes to have a new occupant by 2015. There are stipulations for occupying the building, however—the rental contract says the house cannot be used as a museum, in an effort to prevent neo-Nazis from occupying the space. According to AFP, the space must be used for "social or educational purpose."

This evening, Fox News formally apologized for a false claim about Muslims that was so egregious, even the Prime Minister of Great Britain and all of French television had to step in and call them out for it.

"Over the course of this last week we have made some regrettable errors on air regarding the Muslim population in Europe – particularly with regard to England and France," anchor Julie Banderas said during tonight's newscast. "This applies especially to discussions of so-called 'No Go Zones' areas where non-Muslims allegedly aren't allowed in and police supposedly won't go."

Germany's anti-Islam PEGIDA march cancelled due to 'assassin' attack threat from Islamic State

ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Germany's anti-Islam PEGIDA movement says it has cancelled a planned march, citing a death threat against organisers from the Islamic State group.

The march was planned in the eastern city of Dresden on Monday, however local police said there had been a "concrete threat" of an attack against one of its leaders at the weekly rally. Police cited information they had obtained from Germany's BKA federal crime office and the Saxony crime office.

"Assassins have been called up to mingle among the PEGIDA protesters and murder one of the individuals leading the rally," police said.  The intercepted appeal was "similar to a tweet in Arabic calling PEGIDA demonstrators the enemy of Islam".

The cancellation was also confirmed on the Facebook page of the group, whose name is a German abbreviation for "Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West". "Unfortunately we have to cancel our 13th rally due to security reasons," PEGIDA wrote.

"An 'abstract threat', as it is called in police jargon, has been switched to a 'concrete murder threat' against one of the people in our organisation team." A spokesman for the Dresden police said that they had placed a "general ban" on all public gatherings on Monday.

Last Monday's PEGIDA rally - the 12th - attracted a record 25,000 people. It followed the Islamist attack on French magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris. The cancellation came after German security authorities said on Friday they had specific warnings of a risk of militant attacks on central railway stations in Berlin and Dresden.

The Dresden rallies began in October as a local protest against new shelters for refugees and have attracted growing numbers of demonstrators. Counter marches have taken place across Germany with far larger numbers.

(Reuters) - Palestinian protesters heckled and threw eggs at Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird during a visit to the occupied West Bank on Sunday, denouncing Ottawa's diplomatic support for Israel.

Baird was not hit, but one of the eggs smacked onto the roof of his car after a meeting with his Palestinian counterpart at the Foreign Ministry in Ramallah.

Several dozen Palestinian special forces armed with machine guns and riot gear made no effort to confront the egg-throwers among a crowd of about 100 protesters.

"You're not welcome," the demonstrators shouted at Baird.

"Belgium is deploying hundreds of troops to guard possible terrorism targets, including Jewish sites and diplomatic missions, following deadly raids on an Islamist cell, the defense minister said on Saturday."

Up to 300 military will be stationed at locations such as the U.S. and Israeli embassies in Brussels and NATO and EU institutions.

"It's very important to say that this wasn't a simple decision, but it was necessary, at a time when police are overly engaged, for the army to enter in a supporting role," Defense Minister Steven Vandeput told reporters.
