Getting your Ham License.

If any of you out there are interested in gettin g your Ham Radio Operator license. There is 3 different licenses your first one to get is the technician one which allows you to use the vhf/uhf channels. They go from 2 meters to 160 cm. you n eed to know the basic theories of electronics to do  some things. and if your a US citizen you have to know the FCC regulations. part 97 and part 15 is also important. Then you must find a VEC that gives the test. there is always 3 vec at a test session.
The fee for taking the test and getting the license is 14.00. The license is good to 10 years.
there is three imporatnt things to know about Amateur radio usage.
1. no obsence language
2. no politics or religion talk.
3. no commerical use of  the bands or selling services.
The Ham Licenses is a very useful ticket to get.
Radio equipment can cost between 100.00 to many thousands of dollars.
learn electronics and build and design antennas.
Learn CW codes(Morse codes)
build and design radio equipment
always upgrade your license.
you have technician,general, and Extra

Thing about using a linear amplifier is 1. It is Illegal to use on a CB max amount of power is 5-7 watts. 2. Ham radio you can talk to people all over the world. 3 Cber's are Idiot and all they do is trash talk to each other. 4 Ham radio offer more things to do like PSK31,CW,RTTY,Packet,SSB,APRS, and the list can go on.

I know the dear brother has left this mortal coil.. but are there any other people that have an interest this way inclined?
I have always wanted to get into it, but never actually met anyone that can teach me the basics.. and I mean more than putting in a few plugs and shouting 'breaker breaker'
This method of communication could become of vital importance one day.. and the idea of being able to chat to one of you across the other side of the world is kinda exciting

I made a promise to Reverend Billy before his death that I would get my HAM Radio licence. Of course he did intend to send me two radios that he left me in his will, but the Mormons he lived with in Utah stole everything he owned and stripped his bank account bare. What they didn't sell in their church junk shop or keep for themselves, they threw in the garbage. So now it's a case of purchasing a HAM Radio, getting the licence and knowing that there is nobody on the other end. That's what's been stopping me fulfilling my promise to Reverend Billy.

maybe a few of us should look into getting our ham licence so there is someone on the other end.its something that has always been interesting to me.im sure we could track down some radio set ups on ebay or the like.
