An Imam is recovering after allegedly being punched by a 22-year-old in Adelaide in a random attack.

https://www.google.com.au/amp/www.skynews.com.au/news/national/sa/2017/11/22/imam-attacked-in-adelaide.amp.html

Imam Shaikh Tawhidi has campaigned against radical Islam and told Sky News he suffered a swollen jaw during the incident.

He says he was sitting in his car outside a shopping centre in Mawson Lake when a man he recognised from the local Muslim community approached him.

'He (the attacker) said salam alaikum, which basically means peace be upon you, and so I extended my hand to shake his hand in return, and by then my guards were down, I had nothing to fear from that person and then out of nowhere he gave me a punch in the lower jaw.' Imam Tawhidi told Sky News during an exclusive interview.

He claims the attacker also chased him and shouted threats at him.

Police arrested the 22-year-old man and charged him with assault.

He was refused bail to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Imam Tawhidi is no stranger to abuse, after controversially calling for Islam to be reformed.

He says he has been spat at, sworn at, and last month had his car vandalised with 'ISIS' keyed on the vehicle.

Comment:

The insinuation is that Imam Tawhidi is under attack by RACIST - WHITE SUPREMACIST Australians. The truth is that this and other attacks upon Tawhidi are from Adelaide's so-called MODERATE MUSLIM community. After all, they have to be MODERATE MUSLIMS, otherwise they'd be classed as JIHADI EXTREMISTS ... and then the entire bloody community would be under 24 hour surveillance.

Another, more honest report has Tawhidi filming the arrest, praising South Australia police and declaring: "This is what radical looks like, no beard or anything, you can't even tell he's a radical, look at him."

Quote from: Rev.Cambeul on 9 News - FacebookMurdoch's News.com.au are insinuating by deliberate omission that Tawhidi is under attack by so-called racist White Australia - and it's working for the average sheeple. I never thought I'd be thanking Channel 9 for telling the whole story in a news report.

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-26/nt-police-aware-of-vigilante-violence-on-alice-springs-streets/9090588

The family of an Indigenous boy seriously assaulted in the centre of Alice Springs say they believe it was racially motivated and they are worried about safety on the streets.

A 13-year-old boy, who cannot be identified, was beaten unconscious in the Todd Mall on a Friday night.

His aunties — who are too scared to identify themselves for fear of retribution — said his cousin was also assaulted.

"One of my nephews got beat up; he lost a lot of blood ... head injuries, upper lip, back injuries, from his head to his foot," one said.

"I was sad, I was angry, I was hurt. I thought I was going to lose my nephew that night.

"My other nephew got knocked to the ground and got kicked and punched and pushed and shoved against the corner."

The boy's aunty fears the assault was racially motivated.

She said both boys were at her house for dinner before she told them to go to the youth centre and take the bus home because "it was getting late".

"So they were just making their way home at that time," she said.

"There were some other kids and a boy was involved who stole a wallet ... and my two nephews were just making their way back ... and somehow they just got attacked.

"All I know is my nephew's a good kid and he goes to school and he loves to play soccer."

The family members are upset by what happened to their nephews but want the community to unite, rather than divide.

"The town needs to be a safe place for us and our kids," she said.
A spike of youth crime incidents in recent months has put the Alice Springs community on edge, leading some people to take the law into their own hands.

Acting Northern Territory Police Commissioner Kate Vanderlaan said she was aware of vigilante groups operating in Alice Springs.

"We encourage people if they want to be part of community safety and community service that they join neighbourhood watch and do their vigilance in that regard."

She said police were monitoring comments on social media and making arrests to get the message out there that vigilante behaviour was not encouraged.

The family of the boys assaulted fear the police are not taking their concerns seriously, but Acting Commissioner Vanderlaan said they were doing all they could to protect the community and children on the streets at night.

"We'll be out in force," she said.

"We'll be working with other agencies in the mall around Alice Springs to ensure that doesn't happen again."

'It would be different if she was white': Police accused of discrimination over Indigenous case
ABC (Australia) | 24 November 2017
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-11-24/inquest-after-sacha-green-fatal-stabbing-at-tennant-creek/9184770

Four years ago, 25-year-old Sacha Green was found dead in a vacant lot. Now her parents are accusing the Northern Territory Police of carrying out a substandard investigation into her suspicious death because she was Indigenous.

The parents of a 25-year-old mother of two are accusing the Northern Territory Police of carrying out a substandard investigation into her suspicious death because she was Indigenous.

Sacha's husband Rodney Shannon was later arrested but released without charge
Four years ago, Sacha Green was found dead in a vacant lot in the town of Tennant Creek. No-one has been charged.

Her family are now hoping a coronial inquest next week will give them answers.

"I've been waiting and I'm still waiting. We're still grieving for my daughter. We want justice," her mother Louise Rankine said.

Sacha's father Casper believes she was fatally stabbed at a house party, before her body was moved to a vacant lot across the road on November 21, 2013.

"They left her covered up with a blanket during a stormy night, when there was a big rain. And then her cousin's sister found her here in the morning," he said.

"It shook the world for us. It's just unbelievable that she's dead."
When the body was found the police initially suspected self-harm, because the wound was on her inner thigh.

Sacha's husband Rodney Shannon was later arrested but released without charge.

In July this year, police named him as a suspect, but have not found enough evidence to charge anyone.

"On the first day, the police were everywhere, asking people questions, and after two weeks they were starting to fail," Mr Green said.

"After the second week police told me they can't do much."
There was no police public appeal, press conference or reward offered for information.

Her father is accusing the police of incompetence.

"I wish the police would have found the knife, as evidence. They told me there's nothing they can find," Mr Green said.

Sacha's parents are also accusing the police of not devoting enough resources to the case to solve it because their daughter was Indigenous.

"It could be different if she was white. I think they would have investigated for months and months," Mr Green said.

"We're supposed to get treated the same way. We're all humans."
Sacha had served a prison term for stealing, and her father also had been in jail for assault and fighting with police.

"The police, they are probably looking at me because I've got a criminal record, and the police will say 'Ah stuff him, he's a criminal, so why do we have to investigate his daughter?'" Mr Green said.

The death of Darwin mother Carlie Sinclair in the same year prompted a different response.

In that case there were multiple public appeals and a $250,000 reward was offered by the police.

Within 18 months Ms Sinclair's partner Danny Deacon was charged, and he was convicted of her murder.

'All suspicious deaths given same response'
The NT Police have told the ABC that Major Crime Squad and forensics officers investigated Sacha's death at the time, and are still investigating.

"Rodney Shannon is still a suspect and, despite the inquest occurring in Alice Springs in the near future, police continue to actively investigate the criminal aspect to this death," NT Police said in a statement.

"All suspicious deaths, regardless of where in the Territory they occur, are given the same level of response with a specialist investigative team being deployed to commence any investigation."

Asked why it has taken four years for an inquest to be held, the NT Coroner's office said: "These questions are going to form part of the inquest. The Coroner's Office can not pre-empt the inquest by commenting beforehand."

The family are now hoping the inquest starting next week will provide them with some closure.

"I'm hoping for it to get to the bottom of this, to catch the person who did this to my daughter. I need him or her to take the punishment," Mr Green said.

http://www.ntnews.com.au/entertainment/television/sandy-talks-about-her-time-on-sbs-tv-show-first-contact-and-why-she-left/news-story/b623a1ac94b1bacd244226a110337a52

"I WAS only really aware of the fact that people think it's bad to call them Abos when I was going on this show," says 41-year-old mortgage broker, Sandy.

Of the six guinea pigs in SBS's indigenous social experiment, First Contact, the mother of five seemed to be the most steadfast and outspoken. So it was a surprise when half way through filming, she suddenly quit.

In the program hosted by Ray Martin, which continues tonight, Aussies with little or no experience of indigenous communities had their views — mostly negative — challenged.

"Give them houses and they burn them down," she said.

"You think that's racist, well I don't f***ing care."

At first, Sandy seemed keen to engage with new experiences and people she met, but after visiting a remote community on Elcho Island, off the coast of Arnhem Land, she quietly packed her bags and left.

"I had a lot of stuff going on at home as well, with a divorce, and my children back here in Newcastle," she says. "I just figured I'd done a lot already in the time that I was there."

Sandy had been vocal in sharing her opinions from the start.
Sandy also says that behind the scenes, she was being provoked by nutrition student, Alice.

"The nights I spent with the girls, she had a habit of questioning me off camera, starting arguments off camera. I said to her, 'Save it for the show. They're valid points, we can have these discussions in front of the camera so they can see where we're coming from'. On camera, she was completely different.

"I'm thinking, 'For f*** sake, are you for real? I'm not putting up with this shit for the next 18 days. I've got enough drama at home'."

Stoic during filming, an emotional Sandy says she has seen the problem of alcoholism first-hand.

"My mum was a functioning alcoholic. It would make her a different person, it used to blow me away," she says. "It makes you a really nasty person. I guess it's the same with Aboriginals. "They start off drinking and it's OK, but it gets to a certain point and it makes you crazy, that's the alcohol. I've done 30 years of looking at that stuff, I don't need that any more. I don't put myself around that stuff any more."

Sandy says her time on First Contact hasn't changed her views.

"No matter what colour we are, or where we're from, we all have opportunities to change our lives," she says.

"It doesn't matter if you're Aboriginal or come from overseas on a boat, everyone has opportunities here to live a different way.

"A lot of the Aboriginals choose to live (in poverty), I think it's what they're used to. Sometimes it's hard to change.

"In Alice Springs they're all drunks, and then there's other areas where there are dry communities, no alcohol. However, they'll find another way.

"On Elcho Island there's a thriving cava trade, and it's all under cover. There's a lot of cash floating around on that island."

Born in the small community of Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory, and delivered by an indigenous midwife, Sandy grew up in Sydney with her mother and step dad, a wool-classer who worked with many indigenous people. She says she subconsciously formed many of her controversial opinions in her younger years.

"My step dad, he really liked the essence of the Aboriginals and outback Australia.

I used to get in trouble for calling them Abos all the time, but that's how I grew up referring to them."

Hey!If you don't like seeing your tax money get wasted on Boongs drinking or destroying everything or neglecting everything The have including their family ,I guess the way to go is political persecution to try and make it look like you are in the wrong!?!?

A "RACIST" health system means Aboriginal Territorians are missing out on kidney transplants that are going to non-indigenous residents for no good reason, a leading Darwin kidney specialist says.

http://www.ntnews.com.au/lifestyle/darwin-doctor-slams-racist-health-system/news-story/f7ce8b615fdd40cf11f73beff335a26e

Menzies School of Health Research senior fellow and Dr G Yunupingu's doctor Paul Lawton said while a non-indigenous kidney patient living in Darwin was as or more likely to receive a transplant as someone living in Sydney or Melbourne, that was not the case for Aboriginal people.

"The bad news is that an indigenous Territorian from the same area, from urban Darwin, or Alice Springs, will have around a 15 per cent chance, so 85 per cent less chance, of getting a kidney transplant even though they're the same age, same gender, same illness profile," he said.

Dr Lawton said the inequality was a result of "systemic bias" which favoured non-indigenous Australians.

"We've organised our systems to deal very well right around Australia for providing really good services for non-indigenous Australians but we don't organise our systems of care to deal with indigenous Australians," he said.

"What I'm talking about is not the sort of racism you might see at the Ku Klux Klan ... it's not that sort of overt racism, it's actually the way in which our system works tends to favour non-indigenous people getting good care over indigenous people."

The requirement for transplant recipients to complete a dental check to be eligible for the procedure was just one example of the bias built into the system, Dr Lawton said.

He said while it was a relatively simple box to tick for non-indigenous Territorians, the reliance of many Aboriginal people on the "under-resourced" public health system created a "barrier to getting on the waiting list".

"It's only one (barrier) but it's an important one and this happens all the way along for pretty much everything, barrier after barrier after barrier that favours non-indigenous people getting through those barriers but indigenous people not," he said.

Dr Lawton – who treated Yolngu musician Dr G Yunupingu before his death from kidney disease in July and backed claims the singer was racially profiled at the Royal Darwin Hospital last year – stressed the issue was not a case of blaming individual hospitals or their staff.

"It's not individual doctors and nurses who are racist ... it's actually the systems that are racist," he said.

The drunk Abos destroy their kidneys with Booze and just expect to be given new ones in the same way they trash homes and expect to be given new ones?!

[SARC]'Cause black people never do or say anything to provoke trouble[/SARC] ...

AS THEY mourned the loss of their 15-year-old mate in a birthday party tragedy, a random man started yelling racist abuse at African teenagers, disturbing footage shows.

http://www.ntnews.com.au/news/grieving-african-teenagers-racially-taunted-after-losing-a-friend/news-story/59976307f80e5ff690bc68d3bfd14375

The images from Glenelg Beach in Adelaide yesterday were taken after the lifeless body of the Goodwood teen was spotted by beachgoers in calm waters underneath the jetty where he had been seen jumping off earlier in the afternoon. Despite efforts to save him, the teen, believed to be from the African nation of Burundi, died at the scene.

The footage was uploaded onto social media with the caption: "Black child just died and this fool wants to say s**t like this. SMH TOLERATE NO RACISM."

In the video, a passer-by is pointing at about 15 youths of African appearance and yelling:

"You're weak, you're all f***ing weak, you weak f***ing dogs," he shouts. "You f***ing black c***s."

The group of teenagers then turn on the man in the footage — throwing punches to the back of his head.

Local police say they are aware of the altercation, which they say occurred a short time after the boy drowned but added that it was unrelated to his death.

Alain Aquade, who filmed the incident said the man's tirade was unprovoked.

"I can assure you all that nothing was done to him prior to any of this," Aquade posted on Facebook. "He was the one instigating the whole thing and was only "harassed" after what he said."

The infamous stretch of water claimed the life of 15-year-old Pacific School Games star Nitisha Negi from India just last week.

Her body was found on Monday morning, after she and four others fell from the rocks into the sea on Sunday.

Frida Meares, 12, was one of the first to alert lifesavers after seeing girls waving in the water near the rocks at Holdfast Marina about 5.50pm last Sunday.
"We heard screams and people in distress," she told The Advertiser.

"Without thinking, I started to run towards the lifesavers ... they all stood up when they saw me."

Negi's death followed those of 11-year-old migrant boys Frank Ndikuriyo and Thierry Niyomwungere, who had been playing on the same breakwater on New Year's Day in 2016.
