Jewish crime lord behind £35million cocaine haul sues prison chiefs for 'denying him kosher food'

A drugs baron jailed for trying to smuggle £35million worth of cocaine into Britain is suing his prison for not giving him kosher food.

Orthodox Jew Simon Price, 68, is accusing the prison service of 'institutionalised anti-Semitism' and alleges that both Muslim and vegetarian criminals get more favourable treatment behind bars.

The career criminal is serving 28 years after being found guilty of smuggling 700kg of cocaine hidden inside drums of syrup.

I was very surprised to see such a bold headline in the Kosher Daily Mail!  How did that story slip through?!  Normally they want to make readers believe Jews are angels and that Muslims are demons.

As yet I see no comments.  Assuming the story is not "pulled" I wonder if their readers will weigh in and accuse the Daily Mail of antisemism for their tone.

"As someone who is Jewish, I am appalled he should be demanding kosher food. Requesting - yes but demanding?? As others have pointed out, if he doesn't want to eat non kosher food then eat vegetarian. My biggest gripe however is to describe a career cocaine smuggler as an "orthodox jew". Sorry, that doesn't square with my definition! "

Actually I think the reason they pointed out it was an orthodox Jew may have been because they wanted to slightly balance out some of their anti-Muslim stance and appease the Muslims a bit by accusing a Jew for a change.  They may have been concerned the Muslims would be pointing out how Zionist the paper is and felt it might placate them a little.  Just an idea, what do you think?

I don't think it has anything at all to do with attempting to placate Muslims, although, their numbers in Britain mean that the truth about a Jew crime lord is more likely to be revealed, which puts more of an obligation for honesty on the media. I also think the media's reaction to the Jew vs Muslim vs Truth circumstances creates more of a double blind than anything:

• The moment the media write anything negative about the Jew, the Muslim cheers.
• The media can easily pass it off as only following its obligation to print the news.
• The outcry from those screaming "ANTI-SEMITISM!" will overshadow those pointing the finger at the Jew - the media and JOG will make sure of that.
• This is generally a nothing story. It will not raise awareness of Jewish Supremacism

The real story is, what happened to those millions of pounds? Were they recovered by the British government? Or did they disappear into Israeli bank vaults? If the latter, did the British government request the Israeli government hand over the proceeds of crime? If so, then did the Israeli government refuse to hand over the millions as they have done time and again when the same request has been put to them by the US and Australian governments in the same situation?

Many families here fled nations that prohibited them from expatriating their money; those who managed to circumvent such restrictions were applauded, not interrogated. Every Jew knows that all he has to do is smuggle his ill gotten gains into an Israeli bank vault, serve his time in the local prison - time which will be needlessly shortened because of numerous reasons relating to his Jewish status - and he will soon be free to migrate to Israel, where his family, friends and bankers with millions of British pounds will be waiting for him with open arms. He knows that the Israeli government will protect his criminal livelihood with everything at its disposal, beginning with notification that Israel does not have a treaty with any other nation to return money - whether from the proceeds of crime or otherwise, and ending with "ANTI-SEMITES!"

THREE members of an ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, who admitted involvement in a $42 million international money-laundering scheme, have escaped going to jail mainly because of their religious beliefs.

The head of the family, Nachum Goldberg, 58, (right) who masterminded the racket, was jailed for five years and ordered to serve a minimum non-parole term of 2 years.

But his wife Rita, 56, and sons Napthali, 36, and Hershel, 34, were freed on suspended sentences, with Victorian County Court judge Michael Strong saying prison for them would be "extraordinarily difficult".

Judge Strong said few members of the public would have any understanding of the rigours of the "Adass strain of ultra-Orthodox Judaism".

He was satisfied the Goldbergs were genuinely devout in their beliefs in a sect which banned television, radio, cinema, alcohol and tobacco and newspapers other than certain Jewish publications.

All four Goldbergs had pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the Commonwealth.

"I am convinced that prison for a Jew of this level or orthodoxy would be extraordinarily difficult," Judge Strong said.

"Delivery of kosher food to the jail and concerns about its contamination would be a constant issue -- and absolutely vital for the prisoner."

The jail would not be able to provide for the observance of many Orthodox requirements for daily living. Ultra-Orthodox Jewish prisoners would be a prime target for "discrimination and abuse or worse by other prisoners because of their unusual appearance".

The same considerations applied to Naphtali and Hershel Goldberg.

He sentenced Rita Goldberg to 15 months, Napthali Goldberg to 12 months and Hershel Goldberg to nine months, all suspended.

Judge Strong said all three had played relatively minor roles in the scheme. Nachum Goldberg had been in complete control of the enterprise.

Judge Strong said that while it was impossible to determine the amount of tax evaded, it was likely to have exceeded $20 million.

He said the principal offenders had not come before the court. Judge Strong said the fraud in which the Goldbergs conspired was committed not by them but by the tax evaders themselves whom the Goldbergs refused to identify. The Goldbergs' "commission" earned from the money-laundering had been at least $800,000.

The scheme Nachum Goldberg operated masqueraded as a conduit for charitable funds to Israel, said the judge.

False documents and a sprinkling of legitimate charitable cheques maintained the charade.

"When the investigators tried to follow the money trail they hit a brick wall in the form of the refusal of the Israeli Government or the Israel banks to co-operate," the judge said.

Judge Strong sentenced the Goldbergs on June 21, but suppressed reporting of the sentences because disclosure of certain information in the sentencing remarks could have aborted another unrelated trial.
