The 27-year-old Sudanese male refugee, known as Faysal, sustained the injuries on Thursday and was flown to Brisbane on Friday afternoon ... He died at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital on Saturday.

Note: The Manus Regional Processing Centre is one of only 2 offshore Australian immigration invasion detention facilities, located on Los Negros Island in Manus Province, Papua New Guinea, operated on behalf of the Australian government. The centre is located on the PNG Navy Base Lombrum (previously a Royal Australian Navy base called HMAS Tarangau).

A THREE-year-old girl is dead after she was pulled from a car and suffered cardiac arrest in Sydney's northwest.

Emergency services were called to Cameo Crt, Glenwood about 5pm, Saturday, after receiving reports the girl was inside a car parked outside a home.

Police say family were performing CPR inside the home when they arrived.

Extract: At least 34 migrants, most of them toddlers, have drowned, as coastguard boats and other vessels tried to save hundreds of others packed into boats off the coast of Libya.

One of a group of boats listed suddenly, sending about 200 people tumbling into the Mediterranean, Italian Coast Guard commander Cosimo Nicastro told Reuters.

"At least 20 dead bodies were spotted in the water," he said. Rescue group MOAS said it had already recovered 34 bodies. "Most are toddlers," the group's co-founder Chris Catrambone said on Twitter.

The coast guard called in more ships to help with the rescue, saying about 1700 people were packed into about 15 vessels.
