I could see how it would increase. This added expense with crazy inflation will bring a lot of crime!

Where I live theft of non-ferrous metals is rife! As soon as a property is vacant, the crooks come fleece everything there!

They make a hell of a mess to fix! If they're old copper heaters in the roof, they'll just drop it through the ceiling with no regard. They'll cut:- gas pipes, hot and cold pipes so it's hard to know precisely how to re-connect! They'll isolate power and flog all the cables too!

They get winches on 4x4's and pull cables out of the ground in new housing estates!

It's hard to prove where the scrap originated from and you can sell it fast. If you target vacant places there isn't a big risk of penalties.

They even broke into a construction site to interfere with machines there and try strip wires out of them.
