The Client
Our client is a well managed Shire Council located on the western side of the Cape York Peninsula. Join this remote community where the fishing is brilliant & the lifestyle relaxed!

The Opportunity
The local Council is seeking to recruit a professional plumber to undertake repairs, renovation & refurbishment to domestic housing, council buildings & infrastructure services. You will oversee new construction, maintain current work & complete other projects as directed.Working with a small team, you will be responsible for the installation & maintenance of the council's domestic & water, drainage, waste & general plumbing systems. Reporting to the Waste, Supply and Sewerage Supervisor, you will also be required to mentor local apprentices.

About You
To be considered for this challenging and rewarding role you will have;

• Essential -Minimum of 2 years' experience within a remote Aboriginal community

• Current Plumbers Licence

• Current Blue Card and White Card

• Gas installers licence preferable

• Back Flow prevention licence preferable

• Experience undertaking a high level of maintenance within a community and as well construction works

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to negotiate, conflict manage and diffuse volatile situations

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve positive outcomes

• Demonstrated experience and understanding of Aboriginal and TorresStrait Islander cultures, with ability to communicate  effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people and knowledge of Aboriginal culture and customs

• Capacity to demonstrate a high level of commitment to interact positively in a remote Aboriginal community
