The son of a police chief who tried to join his father's force was rejected for being 'a white, heterosexual male without disability'.

Matthew Furlong, 25, had applied for his 'dream job' as a constable with Cheshire Police, where his father, Liam, 52, is a detective inspector.

He performed well in tests and at interview but the force was so desperate for more recruits from ethnic minorities or who were gay or transgender that it refused to hire him.

Mr Furlong, who has a degree in particle physics from Lancaster University, lodged a discrimination claim against Cheshire Police under equality legislation, and won.

It is believed to be the first successful case of its kind.

In a ruling last week a judge criticised the force for treating candidates with 'protected characteristics' – including those who were gay, transgender, disabled, black or from other ethnic minorities – more favourably than Mr Furlong, who was 'a white, heterosexual male without disability'.

Mr Furlong, of Frodsham, Cheshire, declined to comment, but his father said: 'I've tried not to get involved. It is such a political hot potato.

'The chief constable is big on diversity, which is quite right, but it has to be applied within the letter of the law and they didn't do that.'

That discrimination in the police against whites has been going on for years in this country. My own uncle had this problem a long time ago. He was refused entry because he was white and the police had to adhere to a so-called "diversity quota". It is a fact that in the UK, you are more likely to get into many jobs including the police if you are non-white.


And then our enemies say our concerns about the future of our race are unjustified. It would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic.

I am tired of this "legal discrimination" crap in the work place too!

I would have been offered a permanent role in this one group I was with if I was an Abo. The Government comes to the party and they subsidise wages of Abos making them cheaper to employ.

I have also been in trouble for photographing areas that Abos live in at work.(In a zone I need a permit to be in because they were granted the land under native title).

If they took pictures /video there'd be no penalty.

Nobody stamped my passport to enter that land. Still just as much my nation as theirs.

It s only legal to discriminate against White people.

I've lived in the UK too and I know what it's like to talk about racial / political/ religious or current affairs there. So easy to invoke either a chimp out from a black or get a Jihad against you from a muslim zealot!
