Matthew Doyle, believed to work at a south London-based talent and PR agency, wrote: "I confronted a Muslim woman in Croydon in south London, England yesterday.

"I asked her to explain Brussels. She said 'nothing to do with me'. A mealy mouthed reply."

Mr Doyle was later arrested with police confirming: "A 46-year-old man was this evening arrested at his home in Croydon on suspicion of inciting racial hatred on social media. He has been taken to a south London police station and enquiries continue." [More ...]

A YOUNG Sydney Muslim woman (Mini Elali, age 27) took a stand this week when an elderly man asked her: "How are the terrorists going?"

"I was shocked and replied, 'What?' He repeated the question. I answered, 'How would I know?' He looked annoyed at my answer and stayed standing next to me. He was just staring at me.

"He looked angry and I was going to just walk away. But I was attacked in 2011 in (nearby) Burwood and I didn't have a photo of my attacker for police, so I made sure to get a photo this time."

Ms Elali says it's insulting to be asked to condemn Islamic State because she considers that an attack on her humanity.

"It made me feel upset, he insinuated I was a terrorist. And I find that offensive ... I'm sick of being asked continuously to condemn Daesh and other similar groups. Of course I condemn them.

"I only speak for myself, I am not a spokesperson for anyone. Daesh are killers, rapists and occupiers. They are criminals. Asking me and any Muslim to condemn them implies if we don't, we condone (what they do)."

Her message is this: "Muslim women are not easy prey or a target for bigoted men ... There are many bigoted extremists in Australia, and like extremists in any community, they are the loudest."

Following the confrontation, Ms Elali took the photograph to Auburn Police

She said a young girl approached her and apologised for what she'd seen. "She ran after me and apologised on behalf of the man. She said, 'I'm so sorry you had to go through that.' I thanked her." [more ...]

A British man has been charged with using social media to incite racial hatred after posting anti-Muslim tweets in the days after the Brussels attacks.

Matthew Doyle was charged on Friday after more than a day of questioning by police. The 47-year-old is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

He is charged with publishing or distributing written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting and likely or intended to stir up racial hatred. [more ...]
