Paris mayor condemns 'black only' feminist festival

A black feminist festival in Paris that excludes white people could be being banned, the city's mayor has warned.

During the 'blackfeminist' Nyansapo Festival in July, 80 percent of the venue, owned by the city of Paris municipality, will be reserved for black women, reports Le Figaro.

Black people from both genders will be permitted to enter another section, while a third area will be open to all.

In a tweet today, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, tweeted that she reserved the right "to prosecute the organisers for discrimination".

Hidalgo added that she "strongly condemns the organisation in Paris of this event".

The controversy has strangely united both anti-racism advocates and the country's far-right National Front party whose candidate Marine Le Pen failed to win this year's French presidential election.

SOS Racisme called it "an abomination" and said it "wallows in ethnic separation", while Licra, the International League against Racism and Antisemitism, said: "Rosa Parks [the pioneering US civil rights activist] would be turning in her grave."

Wallerand de Saint-Just, president of the National Front at the regional council of Ile-de-France, described the event as "a festival forbidden to whites".

In a statement, he called for the mayor to "immediately explain the organisation in municipal premises of an event highlighting an openly racist and anti-republican conception of society."

The BBC reported the festival organisers said in a statement that they had been "the target of a campaign of disinformation and fake news orchestrated by the extreme right" and they were "saddened to see some anti-racist associations let themselves be manipulated".

The statement added that many people had "no problem" with women-only feminist groups when race was not stipulated.

A spokesperson for the Paris police department said it had not been informed of the event but it would "ensure strict compliance with the laws, values and principles of the republic".

While it's a good thing that the Mayoress of Paris is speaking up against anti-White racism, remember that she is part of the cause and as right as she is, is only seeking votes to oppose the dreaded Right-Wing monster that every Left' and Libtard wets their knickers over ...

Anne Hidalgo is a French politician who is the current Mayor of Paris. She is the first woman to hold the office. She has been a member of the Socialist Party since 1994, previously serving as former National Secretary for Culture and Media.
