POLICE say arrests 'are a last resort' as they seek to defuse racial violence that erupted in Logan for the third night in a row.

Police today defended their response to racial tensions in the city, south of Brisbane.

Logan Mayor Pam Parker had called for a "zero tolerance" approach and an increase police presence after Pacific Islanders and Aborigines were involved in a dispute for a third night.

Mr Stewart called on elders and church groups to get involved to help resolve the racial tension.

"This is not going to be fixed in a day, this is not going to be fixed in a week," he said.

"I know that the churches get very much involved down there because they have very large followings of both culture groups and I ask them to take as much action as necessary to get a peaceful resolution to these current tensions." [more ...]

Mobs tearing up Logan tonight. Did any of them do a day's work today, or was it business as usual and welfare on tap?

Federal Trade Minister Craig Emerson told the ABC Mr Laming's quotes were disgraceful and callous, and inflaming a tense situation for political gain was appalling.

When contacted by The Courier-Mail, Mr Laming confirmed it was his tweet, but said he did not comment on his social media.

I remember when the appalling Federal Trade Minister Craig Emerson MP and his ilk were happy to use Cronulla's White protesters as political gain in their war against decency and common sense, while at the same time they turned a blind eye to Muslim rioters burning, looting, stabbing and bashing their way through Sydney. Nothing has changed: but this time both sides are Black, so the politically correct have no "White Supremacists" to blame, so the irresistible urge is to coddle all of the offenders under a banner of big-brotherly love and guidance.

Police respect a local Aborigine's right to roam the streets armed with intent to do physical harm


Assistant Commissioner Peter Martin said "Arrest for police is always a last option."
Is it an Aboriginal? Is it a Pacific Islander? No, it's Token the (presumed) White man!

Earlier, Premier Campbell Newman said the state government would consider relocating the families involved, if they agreed.

"There are some of these people in public housing and if they wish to move to a different location so we can defuse these things - those are the sorts of things we'd do with people's co-operation," he said.

"I'd ask them to consider any offers that we might make like that." [more ...]

This man made no racial comments! However the media is pointing the finger at whitey in this situation and saying he is racist just for implying the people in that suburb should be at their jobs instead of using the place as a battlefield!

PEACE talks between warring Aboriginal and Pacific Islander families at Logan, south of Brisbane, ended with jokes, laughter and a hint of embarrassment.

The Aboriginal family is moving out of Douglas Street in suburban Woodridge after six years.

They say it's an act of conciliation and they are looking to make a fresh start on the Gold Coast. [more ...]

NO ONE was more shocked than Joesiah Briggs at the confronting photograph of himself wielding a weightlifting bar on The Courier-Mail's front page yesterday.
The 18-year-old engineering student says the angry young man pictured on the streets of Woodridge, south of Brisbane, does not reflect who he is and he wants to apologise.
"That was me, but it's not me," he said as calm returned to the suburb yesterday.
"I've been brought up from the day I was born to right now in a Christian home. I regret doing that and I'm sorry."
Joesiah was in Townsville when his parents' Woodridge home was attacked on Saturday night during a dispute with a Tongan family living in the same street.
Days of violence followed until the two warring families finally declared the fight was over yesterday and pledged to repair the damage to the community.
As peace returned, Joesiah said his mother Bronwyn's anguish convinced him of the need to personally apologise for his part in the clashes.
