Protesters trash Cory Bernardi's Adelaide office

ANGRY students have stormed and trashed Senator Cory Bernardi's Kent Town office, protesting his opposition to the controversial Safe Schools program.

More than 20 students occupied the Grenfell St office from noon and scrawled abusive messages directed at Senator Bernardi on the outside walls and veranda.

They also hung a large banner inside the reception area, wrote messages in chalk on the carpet and overturned tables and chairs as they chanted slogans such as "racist, sexist, anti-queer, Bernardi is not welcome here".

Senator Bernardi's wife, Sinead, and some staffers retreated into other rooms. [more ...]

There were no arrests.

Lefty totalitarians have trashed my office and threatened my staff because their agenda has been exposed. What a bunch of cowards.

TWELVE people have been reported for allegedly trashing the office of Senator Cory Bernardi during a protest in March.


Just hours later, Senator Bernardi responded to the arrest on Twitter by saying he was glad the "losers" had been arrested.

They have been reported for disorderly behaviour over the protest at his Kent Town office.

Three of the twelve people — four teenagers and eight adults — reported have also been charged with property damage following the March 18 incident.

Police will allege the group entered the MP's electoral office and defaced walls and carpet as well as pushing over a fence and destroying electoral material.

On Twitter, Senator Bernardi posted: "Good to hear that the losers who trashed my office and intimidated my team are being held to account by SAPOL."

He also sent out an official statement condemning the alleged offenders, saying there was no place in society for such actions.

"It is alarming that there are those that think that this sort of bullying behaviour is justified against people whose views are different from their own," it says.

"The fact that such actions were taken in the name of tolerance and equality is desperately hypocritical."
Reported for both offences are an Inglewood girl, 17, Prospect woman, 24, and a 20-year-old Klemzig woman.

Those reported for disorderly behaviour are: a Glenunga man, 21, Adelaide man, 21, Bradbury woman, 18, Prospect man, 23, Croydon man, 23, Croydon Park woman, 22, Athelstone boy, 17, Rosewater girl, 14 and 19-year-old Hewett woman.


Senator Bernardi tweeted: "Good to hear that the losers who trashed my office and intimidated my team are being held to account by SAPOL."
