The Indigenous Voice to Parliament has been rejected by the Australian people at the referendum.

New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania have all voted No.

65 per cent of the votes which have been counted in Queensland are a No.

It is a resounding victory for the No campaign, with a No vote likely the outcome in every state.

Victoria is trending toward a No result, but it is far closer at 52 per cent against the proposal.

'A week of silence for the Voice': Indigenous Australians speak out

A group of Indigenous Australians who supported the Voice have issued a two-page statement vowing to begin a week of silence beginning tonight.

'Indigenous leadership' to make major announcement this evening as 'period of mourning' is declared

Sky News reporter Laura Jayes said they will declare an 'official period of mourning', during which they will make no comment about the catastrophic result.

Jayes said the leaders would acknowledge there is 'no hope for reconciliation'.

How states and territories are forging ahead with their own Voice and treaties despite a resounding referendum defeat

South Australia: Premier Peter Malinauskas has legislated the Uluru Statement in full, which includes Voice, Treaty and Truth (a Truth and Reconciliation Commission/A Racial Court run by Abos for Witch-Hunted recalcitrant White Australians). Around 65 per cent of voters in South Australia opposed the Voice.

Queensland: The state government has committed to the treaty process several times and across multiple state election campaigns. Around 75 per cent of voters in Queensland opposed the Voice.

Victoria: The First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria - an independent, elected body representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional owners - was established in 2019 to prepare for a treaty between First Nations communities and the government. The Yoorrook Justice Commission, a formal truth-telling process into historical and ongoing injustices experienced by Victoria's First Peoples, is due to deliver its next report in December 2024. Around 55 per cent of voters in Victoria opposed the Voice.

New South Wales: The state government promised five million dollars towards establishing a treaty process before the state election in March but they are yet to begin consultations. Around 60 per cent of voters in NSW opposed the Voice.

Tasmania: The Tasmanian government has committed to 'progressing truth-telling and treaty in true partnership with Tasmanian Aboriginal people' and in December appointed a six-member Aboriginal advisory body to oversee the process. Around 60 per cent of voters in Tasmania opposed the Voice.
