British metal band Napalm Death has written a letter to President Widodo, after he declared he was a fan of them during last year's election campaign when he proclaimed his love for Napalm Death alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Lamb of God.

Vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway posted a "direct appeal" to him on Napalm Death's Facebook page - which has more than 700,000 followers.

His messaage stated: "As a follower of our band Napalm Death, you would appreciate that our lyrics and ethos challenge the unbroken cycle of violence in the world, whether it comes from a state or as an individual."

"I understand that you are standing as a leader determined to change things for the better, and so I believe granting clemency would be a major step forward in this pursuit of betterment. I appreciate that heroin can be damaging on many levels, but I believe that this is a much deeper issue that cannot be changed or altered by simply taking away the lives of people."

Napalm Death produces grindcore/metal music, which has elements of hardcore punk, industrial music and death metal.

President Widodo has also been previously photographed wearing Napalm Death T-shirts while making the popular rock 'n' roll concert hand salute.

The band's appeal on behalf of Chan and Sukumaran comes as Indonesia's attorney-general has confirmed the pair are in the next group of death row prisoners to be executed.

HM Prasetyo last week said Australians were among the foreign drug offenders in line for executions, but didn't reveal their names.

Asked today if Chan and Sukumaran were on the list for the next round, he told reporters: "Yes, included in the next round." The timing was yet to be determined, he said.

The Bali Nine ringleaders are next in line for the firing squad despite their lawyers on Friday filing an application for a judicial review.

Their avenues for appealing the 2006 death sentences were exhausted when President Joko Widodo refused them clemency.

The attorney-general said various things had to be considered before setting a date for the next round of executions, including the weather.

"We're just waiting for the right time," he said.

"Their judicial aspects have been finished and certainly, we are now in the stage of preparation for their death penalty execution."

Mr Prasetyo said his department was working with the National Narcotics Board (BNN) to fight drug crime.

I have a better Idea, send them into a really violent mosh-pit on the drug fantasy and get the band to play the Napalm Death classics ... and let the other muds in Indonesia use the heavy sound track to get hyped to tear these clowns limb from limb!
